  1. Even if you CB check with heavy, there is still an advantage. The light counterparts of the CB checkers suck. Playing to C check doesn't give you the guys like LaFontaine and Gilmour, it means playing with Tom Pedersen and Dallas Drake. Would you rather have 2nd round Don Sweeney, or 4th round Al Iafrate? Iafrate is better, but is picked later because he can't C check as well. If you take Iafrate and use the CB check.. then how is it not an advantage, especially when everyone else is using shitty light players.
  2. You should have to sacrifice important assets if you want to body check players. What I believe is represented in Blitz (no bugs), so I think my opinion is correct to an extent. If you want to body check in Blitz, you have to sacrifice skill. C-checkers would end up with Jimmy Carson/Wendel Clark/C. Lemieux, I would end up with Klima/Recchi/Damphousse, Roenick/LaFontaine/Gilmour, or Ciccarelli/Gagner/Davydov. To me this makes sense and is equal. Play easier defense with Carson but leave your self vulnerable to B-checks on offense (with less skill), or play easier offense with Klima but leave yourself vulnerable to C-checks on offense (with more skill)? It's harder to avoid C-checks, so more skill should be given. This is a clear trade-off. With the weight bug, the prime C-checkers are average/shitty players. It usually means picking guys like Russell vs. Manson, Svoboda vs. Bourque, Drake vs. Kamensky, Broten vs. Hull, Lebeau vs. Lemieux. My GDL 11 team vs. EA's GDL 14 team is the best representation of what I'm talking about. Gretz/Lemieux/Carson/Coffey/Murphy vs. Roenick/Emerson/Drake/Zhitnik/Maciver. The first one is for me, the other is for the guy who wants to play like Raph. Now anyone can take my team and get the best of both worlds with the CB check. This is not equal. There is no trade-off. Light guys with high stickhandling were never even a problem. Before the CB check, the biggest threat modern GDL ever saw was HABS using Wayne Gretzky and losing in the first round. Bo lost with Bure, I lost with Roenick, Carse lost with Gretzky, Swos lost with Fleury.. The B-check always handled it fine. There's a disadvantage to the B-check and there's a disadvantage to the C-check. There is no disadvantage of using the CB check so I don't see any equalizer.
  3. After getting beat by Raph in too many games, I have realized that there is nothing I can do to beat the CB check as a player who prefers the B-check. The whole appeal of the B-check is that it works with any player, meaning you do not have to sacrifice any important assets unlike the C check. The downside is that it is harder to play defense with the B-check than it is with the C check. Now with the CB check, what was a big advantage of the B-check is now nullified. Example.. The C-checkers prefer Petr Svoboda because he is lighter, but a B-checker like myself prefers Larry Murphy and Zalapski because they are more skilled.. Now you can just take Larry Murphy and CB check. That's not the purpose!!!! I know I am the one that brought the CB check into play and although I use heavy players, I still B-check over 90% of the time. Most of my checks with the heaviest of players such as Lindros and Stevens are still B-checks. fuk!!!
  4. Thank you for taking the time to support your my argument by conveniently ignoring the question.
  5. Rude newcomers are not a thing.. I think most would put money on that. Where are the "plenty" of new guys responding to chatter they don't like? I don't think anyone in the history of this community would agree with your statements.. I've been playing here since Fall 2011 and I've never had any problems with the 100+ newcomers I've played with. Unless you are provoking the noobs(?), I don't see how you could even get them to engage in chatter they don't like.
  6. Not all experienced players are good at the game. Just because someone doesn't have a winning record or plays at a "B" level, it doesn't mean they aren't an old vet. I think being accused of being another player is a compliment and not an insult, as most new guys are terrible. You also never know. I went 12-27 in GENS A with Pittsburgh despite being one of the better players.
  7. Make the tournament more than one day.. Allow the use of emulators.. and hack the ROMs to get rid of penalties (with b-checks) so the games are 8 mins instead of 25.
  8. Ya. Only Gretzky is more agile when it comes to forwards. Yzerman does have 6 agility, so he can achieve max agility depending on how hot he is.
  9. My body is fresh and the dust has been wiped off of my keyboard
  10. Whatever man. The majority of the guys here don't like your posts. It's best to just let it go.
  11. I wish... I must have gotten about two body checks total within my three seasons of Blitz. I still racked up a lot of penalties. I think the game gives power plays to coaches who are being dominated, which could be an explanation for why I get called for so many random penalties. I think the game has a flag that will make the next interaction between two players result in a penalty for Team X. I think that flag can be altered by the CB check, but is completely random otherwise. There is really no real correlation between playing style and penalties (from what I know). Some games I get 16PIM, others I get 0. I don't understand how I can have zero body checks, the most body checks against in the league and still get less PP time than PK. It makes no sense. EDIT: That was for Blitz 11. Blitz 09 and 10 I had more PP than PK. But I still get penalized.
  12. This is where I think people get too personal. It's the internet, you should be able to handle a little trolling on some NHL '94 forums. Makes no sense to be worrying about some guy bashing GENS '94 at the age of 35-40 on a personal level. Don't you have other things to worry about? When I'm 35, the last thing I'll be worrying about is how some guy (that I don't even know) made fun of a bug in a game I liked.. lol
  13. lol!! I defend tru because I'm in the same boat. There are a number of guys who will cuss at me and only me because everyone else does. Look at skip. He cussed me out for nitpicking his NHL '16 ratings.. But when Depch did the same, skip was the nicest guy in the community. You were even the one to bring it up to me. Remember how hard kupuck would try to hate on me just to look cool for the mods? He probably had pictures of hali in his wallet and a larger one covering the mirror in his room. It's just how it works. People aren't comfortable speaking out against others. The comfort is only there if everyone else does. How many times have you seen someone speak like a saint on the forums but then cuss like a sailor and gossip like a little girl in a private AIM chat? There was even a time when Houly posted your chat logs on the forums and you weren't too happy about it because it represented what I am referring to. Don't take it personal. You don't want to end up being the guy who talks to his wife, friends, and doctor about getting trolled on NHL '94 forums by some guy named tru.
  14. What I said isn't true? You give me a break. Stop trying to sound like a good guy. Your previous speech was corny and obviously false. You're seeking approval from others because you're a weakling. "We are blessed that this is actually around" -- I'm sure you feel that way... Maybe next time you won't drop GDL without telling anyone. So blessed! "I have no personal allegiance to either system" -- Preferred System: Gens " I greatly respect the people who play and runs SNES leagues" -- Nah, you don't. That's corny. You don't give a s**t about the average guy who plays in an SNES league. How does playing SNES deserve "great" respect in any way? Your post is garbage and you're trying too hard to get the respect of the general population so you can be the hero. Calm down, and go back to being the weakling you are.
  15. When one figure is hated on, most of the hate comes from people who do it just to fit in. What people like to do is follow the "cool" crowd, so if this guy and that guy think it's cool to hate on tru, then nearly everyone else will. People also take things too personally. A lot of people, such as the ones who ignore your posts, are truly bothered by your troll posts. I'm sure some of the guys like FPB or Sebe have told their girlfriends/wives about you because you bothered them so bad. I know I've had my moments of attacking and screaming at tru (even getting banned), but those were more of an attempt to try and redirect the shots he takes at others back in his face. I have never been bothered by tru on a personal level, just on a video game level. I don't have any hard feelings against tru, but I'm sure most of the members do. So, the combination of these two factors have resulted in an exaggerated negative reputation of tru. I'm in the same boat, but I don't have to make these kind of threads because I do most of my talking over AIM. Tru's reputation can't be fixed. People want to see him as the villain. I think the best solution would be for the mods to stop having knee-jerk reaction to anything tru says. And to stop deleting his posts/punishing him for things he says simply because it's honest or tru!!
  16. I remember FPB quitting against me in GDL 11 because the game was "already over" as I was up four goals late in the third. When the classic leagues did not use save states, the coaches would have to manually input the scores of the game. FPB was known to increase his goal total by giving himself an extra one or two goals in blowout games in hopes of breaking the goal record.
  17. Good luck to anyone with the 16th pick against a similarly skilled player with the 13th. It's a steep, steep diiference.
  18. Why not just make it fair for everyone? I don't see the purpose in deliberately being unfair to 3-4 coaches.
  19. Outside of the highest tier, the players in NHL '94 are very similar. It seems as if they follow a prototype, kind of like how Raph classified the types of players in his draft strategy. There are shooters, skaters, speedsters and servicemen. However.. for some reason, there is a clear lack of hybrids. This had to have been done intentionally. Shooters are never skaters/speedsters. Speedsters are never skaters/shooters. Skaters are never shooters/speedsters. A player that should be a hybrid usually gets into one of the categories, and ends up with 4s in the other categories. Here are examples of what I'm talking about: Joe Sakic - Fits into shooter, but should be a skater too. His agility/stick are capped at 4. Mats Sundin - Fits into shooter, but could possibly fit in to all three. Everything else is capped at 4. Sergei Fedorov - Fits into skater, but should be a speedster too. His speed is capped at 4. Valeri Kamensky - Fits into shooter, but should be a hybrid of all three. All the other stats missing are capped at 4. Geoff Sanderson - Fits into serviceman, but should be a hybrid of shooter/speedster. Instead they are all capped at 4. Joe Juneau - Fits into serviceman, but should be a hybrid of skater/speedster. Instead everything is capped at 4. Stephane Richer - Fits into shooter, but should be a hybrid of the shooter/speedster. Instead he has 4 speed. Mark Messier - Fits into skater, but should be a speedster as well. Instead he has 4 speed. Cliff Ronning - Fits into speedster, but should be in the skater category. Instead he has 4 stick. Shooters cap at 4/4 skating and 4 stickhandling. Skaters cap at 4 speed and 4/4 shooting. Speedsters cap at 4 stickhandling and 4/3 shooting. Klima is the one true exception, meaning they must have really respected his talent. My guess is that too many players outside of the real-life stars would have had too high of an overall if they had received higher ratings than 4 in their areas of specialty. Were there really NO forwards in the NHL that were fast with a good shot? No forwards that were fast with good hands? No forwards with good quickness, good hands and a good shot?
  20. ...Time to move from AIM
  21. Turning speed is universal. There is no stat that makes you turn faster. Agility is acceleration. I'm pretty sure there's no relation between Agi/Turning.
  22. lol. Guys, all lefties turn the same and all righties turn the same regardless of stats. A skater with 15 weight and 0 agility can spin the same as his 0 weight, 6 agility counterpart. Left-handed players move differently than right-handed players. It's just how the game is programmed. Righties can spin and stickhandle better (allows for better deking of defenders and goalies), but I find that left-handed players are better at scoring floaters. Guys like myself, Carse and Zeppelin who score a ton of raw floater goals usually do so with lefties. As for the stick length.. I have no idea.
