  1. Maybe I went too in-depth. We'll sum it up like this: Body checks work 99% of the time if the checker is two points lighter than the receiver. Anyone can check anyone, but if the general rule doesn't apply, I'd say it's about a 15% chance.
  2. I think @kingraph is correct. The checking rating seems to make a difference.
  3. Body checks work 99% of the time if the checker is two points lighter than the receiver. The exceptions to this are when the receiver has high stick handling (5 or 6), when the receiver has a strong enough home advantage and >=4 stick handling. Sometimes a check just won't have any effect at all. I'm not sure what causes this, but it's a lot more common when you play against the CPU. That is what I consider to be the remaining 1%. Anyone can check anyone, but if the general rule doesn't apply, I'd say it's about a 15% chance. Also, body checks should be done with enough distance between the players. If you are too close when you start your check, you will just brush up against your opponent. When you are very close to someone you want to check, watch the legs of your player, and start your body check when you are on your back leg so you can get enough momentum. This doesn't apply to ALL situations, but usually you can tell when you are too close to body check. Raph summed up the rest.
  4. @kingraph did you ever get your 10,000 bitcoin???
  5. There are tons of pale Portuguese people. A lot of people from Portugal look like the typical Caucasian
  6. Now that we have an efficient way to record with Windows 10, we can easily make videos from .krec files. Does anyone have any notable .krecs they would be willing to share? Maybe someone out there is willing to upload them to YouTube.. who knows I have .krec files of nearly every single game (exis included) from December 2012 on. So for me, here are my key games (that are not on YouTube): Fall Classic 2012 GENS B - Plabax vs. TomKabs93 GDL 9 - Plabax vs. BoKnowsNHL94 Spring Classic 2013 GENS A - Begley15 vs. Plabax Spring Classic 2013 GENS A - IceStormNHL94 vs. Plabax GDL X - eggink444 vs. Plabax GDL X - Plabax vs. Carse (game 5 desync) GDL X - Plabax vs. IceStormNHL94 GDL XI - Houly vs. Plabax (forfeit after game 2) GDL XI - Plabax vs. FlamingPavelBure GDL XI - Plabax vs. Depch GDL XI - Plabax vs. Zalex Blitz 09 - Depch vs. Plabax Blitz 09 - Plabax vs. IceStormNHL94 Blitz 09 - Plabax vs. Freydey GDL XII - zeppelin55 vs. Plabax GDL XII - Fitzo vs. Plabax (multiple desyncs) GDL XII - Plabax vs. Uncle Seth Blitz 10 - Fitzo vs. Plabax Blitz 10 - Zalex vs. Plabax Blitz 11 - brutus vs. Plabax Blitz 11 - IcestormNHL94 vs. Plabax Blitz 11 - kingraph vs. Plabax GDL XIII - matthurray vs. Plabax GDL XIII - IceStormNHL94 vs. Plabax GDL XIII - Plabax vs. kingraph (forfeit in game 4) GDL XIII - Zalex vs. Plabax Fall Classic 2015 GENS A - kingraph vs. Plabax GDL XIV - FlamingPavelBure vs. Plabax GDL XIV - zeppelin55 vs. Plabax GDL XIV - IceStormNHL94 vs. Plabax Spring Classic 2016 GENS A - Plabax vs. Zalex GDL XVI - matthurray vs. Plabax GDL XVI - Freydey vs. Plabax GDL XVI - Plabax vs. angryjay93 GDL XVI - Uncle Seth vs. Plabax Plabax League - HABS vs. Plabax Plabax League - Plabax vs. Depch Plabax League - Uncle Seth vs. Plabax If anyone wants the files for a specific game or series, let me know. Also, if you've played exis or regular season games against me, and you want to see them to analyze your game, I can provide that too.
  7. I feel that it starts to feel like a chore (for some people) when you have to play so many games.
  8. If you're interested in analyzing your game, you can download the okai recorder and have it automatically record your games on GENS.
  9. You have me convinced.. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
  10. dcicon lets himself get blown out whenever he thinks he can't win. I thought he would have stopped by now.
  11. You could use NOSE (a program you can download on the forums) and transfer the rosters over to NHLPA '93.
  12. @swos @floating @MrSandman @nahkahomo are all European, but they are all inactive. You could at least try I guess.
  13. How about the @LA Robbie set play... instant replay after a goal against
  14. 1. Offensive zone faceoff win to dman --> one-timer pass to winger in the middle 2. Faceoff to winger and accelerate towards the net immediately 3. Offensive zone faceoff win to winger against boards --> crease cut Those are the only ones I ever used.
  15. I think he goalies are a lot better in NHL '94. It's possible you aren't very good at deking the goalies. I remember we used to have a '93 league, and it wasn't extremely rare to score 20 goals in a game.
  16. In the SNES version, you will only see highlights in playoff games. In the Genesis version, you will see them in either. The game manuals say so.
  17. The actual ratings are correct, but I think some of the positions may be wrong.
  18. The CB check was discovered in 2014
  19. i understand where you are coming from, but I think tru makes a good point. The runner-up list excludes people that aren't a part of a select list. Look how halifax deliberately didn't put me on the list (again). With AJ and kingraph having bud of the year awards, I would definitely have one too if my reputation weren't tainted.
  20. Controllers need to be configured as 6-button to avoid desyncs.
  21. It seems like nobody ever mentions the awareness stats when discussing players.
  22. The World Cup and Olympics are only considered to be premier events because of hype and tradition. They are established, prestigious events that bring out the best of the best and have this aura of being the "best". The prestige in winning them comes from the fact that the events are held in high regard. However, you can't go around talking about being the best because of a World Cup or an Olympic Gold Medal. There are other events that determine who the best really are because the format is better at doing so. In the case of the Super Bowl, there is no alternative. While major sports playoffs are small samples, they are large enough. You could make the President's Trophy winner the Cup winner too.
  23. I agree... however how you play it is more important. You guys are playing in a live tournament but under what rules? Coin flips and best-of-one or three series? How do you gain bragging rights from playing like that? What is there to brag about? Why not play blindfolded or play first goal wins.. it wouldn't matter because it would be in person, right? I'm sure the King of '94 is awesome. I don't like how people are acting as if it's the World Cup of NHL '94. I don't see how it can be the Premier Event to win in NHL '94 because of the format. Why not make the tournament three days and have all round-robin matchups best of 3, then have everyone who advances past it everyone play best-of-5 or best-of-7? Also, let people choose their teams maybe... Anyone can win King of '94 with the current format. That's why the winners are not even community members. Playing live games does produce the best results, but you need to play enough games. A small sample size does no good, and the King of '94 produces a very small one. BobK and Jamil had a max of just seven games combined through winners and losers even though they played in Grand Finals and reset the bracket. That's ridiculous. The equivalent for many other competitive video games would be fifteen games (3x best-of-five going to game five), which is more than double of what King of '94 offers.
