To be clear, we still have a week to finish games, right? So these scenarios are hypothetical (and meant to get guys to finsih games!), right?

Feel like a bit of a moron, but CoachMac helped me solve my problem. Turned out the second window was just off screen, where I could not see it. So, in Win7 I right clicked on the program in the Taskbar and chose "Move" and was able to move it back on screen. Doh!

I love playing online. But my technical experience is getting worse, not better. We all know how glitchy this all is. here is my latest problem. Using the old Kaillera, I get a high % of desynced games which is super frustrating. But when I switch to the new Kaillera, and click the Host button, instead of getting to the 2nd window (where you checkmark "Ready") the thing just goes into Purgatory. That is, the 2nd window ever shows. And I cannot do anything to connect. Thoughts? For the record, the new Kaillera worked fine for me for several days in the beginning.

Just to be perfectly clear, under the column titled "GIH H/F", if the number is zero or even, they are left handed, and odd numbers are right handed? I would have expected numbers to be either 1 or 2, but Corey Perry has a 7? Any significance to the higher numbers? (Or maybe I have the wrong category altogether?)

Newbie question but how can you tell if they are a lefty or righty in NHL16v3.xls? I expected a column that said L or R? Hoping for an answer before 8pm (when I have to pick)!!!!

This is a great first post! And it touches on how NHL'94 was so amazing that it transcended all barriers. As someone said in another post, it is like if there was a Cricket'94 -- cricket being a game I have never played or followed -- and it became huge in hockey hotbeds like Canada where I live. There is a documentary being made about this great game, and I wish the documentary maker (Mikey) had the budget to fly all over the world chasing great stories like yours. Welcome!

I didn't realize this was such an unknown/controversial topic? I will test it myself by using two controllers head-to-head and trying different permutations. I will say I didn't realize until now you didn't have to press B. (I always pressed B, because that is what give you the little animation, but now I have tried without and see it still works.)

So do we know what stats -- if any -- affect winning faceoffs? I was thinking possibly stickhandling or agility might be important? Or is ability to win faceoffs truly up to the coach's reaction time and luck? (And independent of the skill of your center?)

Thanks for the replies, guys. I am going to try Jer_33's approach (intuitively I don't feel like should have to close the ROM) and if it doesn't work, download smozoma's link and try his approach. If neither works for me I will just keep doing what I do (with random crashes and whatnot) and be thankful it is even possible to play at all.

"Gens rerecording"? Is this different than "gens.exe" and "gens-netplaysave.exe"?

So to be clear, you do not close the ROM at all? You just close the Netplay screen (the 2nd Kailera screen)? Because this is what I *feel* like I should be able to do, but it never works and I end up having to close the ROM (or the whole damn thing hangs and I have to start from scratch opening gens.exe.)

Just to be clear, you are able to close the ROM without closing kailera? Because when I try that, I get a message like "Cannot do this action while Netplay is active" or something similar. I always have to close Kailera first (unless I am missing something).

Hello and Good Day! I am in the Classic B1 league, and tend to play opponents 4 games in a row, two home and two away. What is yhe fastest way to switch from Home to Away? Currently, I drop the game in Kailera, close K down completley, then close the ROM. This means I have to re-open everything I shut down. Is it really necessary to close the ROM? Common sense tells me I should just be able to drop the game, close the 2nd Kailera window, and choose Connect instead of Host from the primay Kailera window, but this never seems to work. I end up having to close Kailera and the ROM entirely, as I described. So what is the fastest way to switch? Do I have to close the ROM?

Hello and Good Day! A friend I play with in person mentioned that he believe that you can control the tempo of a game -- including the AI of your team mates -- by your own play. Specifically, he says that when he plays aggressively, and does a lot of C-check, the rest of his team mates will follow suit and as the game progresses, they will check more, and they will lose their defensive shape. Conversely, by avoiding C-checks and staying put, he feels the rest of his team calms down and holds strong defensive positions. Is there any truth to this? I can see how you can control your own tempo, but I am suspicious about this extending to the other guys on your team, that thr CPU controls?

Just wanted to update folks. These tips are awesome! They have greatly changed my play. When I started this thread I was 3 and 21, which is, well, pretty crap. But since incorporating tips suggested by the pros here, I have gone 3 an 5, and a couple of those losses were in OT. I have also recorded a bunch of my games, or at least I think I have. So I expect to improve even more when I review those. Anyway, thanks for sharing your knowledge. There are many great points here but three of my favorites are 1. start using B-checks more than C-checks 2. (when without the puck) get a forward back to help on defense and plug the middle (I was usually controlling a D-man before) 3. and just position the goalie in front of pucks without even worrying much about using C.

That is really cool! My favorite part of nhl94online.com i being able to see your stats, and see how your players are doing accoring to the stats (as opposed to a hunch). Awesome news!
