  1. Welcome back! This is a fantastic community. Perhaps either @kingraph @angryjay93 @smozoma or @chaos might know regarding the Blitz league? If you haven't yet, grab the new Retroarch package from www.nhl94online.com, and join the Discord server so you can find people to play against. Typically people use the playoff roms so that there is "unlimited" overtime clock. Peace bud.
  2. Emulator data sizes for Retroarch are pretty large, and it has to integrate with the existing PS4 structure/OS. This isn't too bad honestly.
  3. I don't condone piracy, but if it happens, you can blame our friends at EA for not making it available for stand alone purchase at launch. If anyone tries sharing it on here, I hope admins will take it down. Piracy through this platform on something people can actually buy new would be a great way to get our beloved site taken down. I know that for every NHL94 rom download for online play, dudes have a cart(or in my case about 25) and thus piracy isn't really a thing. Hacks are a grey area. If the game is $15 or less, I'll buy it just so that it helps the overall numbers. If the
  4. This thread just became magical. @DanK there is an awesome group of guys who play in Chicago, both versions that meet at DMen Tap on Belmong Monday nights. Some of them attend my NHL94 tournaments. You should lock it down with them and have an amazing time.
  5. Growing up, I had NHL Hockey for DOS, but never owned NHL94 on console until later on in life. It was and still is a great game, albeit not the easiest to fire up like a Genesis or SNES. Scoring methods weren't as plentiful/repeatable as the console versions of 94, but I enjoyed the challenge, and the full season mode _ digitized narration was a major plus over consoles. Once I got my first Playstation, I was drawn to the 97, 98, versions, and I eventually started getting PC version of EA NHL in 2000. I also enjoyed the 2K series on Dreamcast. While these games weren't perfect, they d
  6. I know this is a bit early and will rehash some thanks from this year's tournament, but I thought it would be a good time to put some thanks out there to buds who really deserve it. I highly encourage folks to continue in this thread by thanking people that deserve recognition. Believe me it's a good break from all this political nonsense in the world these days. Good vibes buds! This is in no particular order, and if I missed you, just know that you are no longer very important to me. J/K Love ya buds! @angryjay93 joined us for the 5th consecutive NHL94 tournament run by this
  7. The fact that a disabled guy had to hop up concrete steps on one leg to the concessions area is atrocious. Where's the damn beer guy, and why isn't he coming down to serve the masses?
  8. You're a tough read bud. I could have sworn by the end of your initial review back in early 2018, that we had done a horrible job. As you're probably aware, we moved SNES to the back end of the tournament the following year, and it ended up being a very competitive field filled with dedicated SNES players, who were also good at Genesis. Nearly no one who travels to these things is willing or able to do that right now, and I don't blame them. While we had a tremendous showing at our Green Bay Tecmo tournament in September, most of it from outside of the area. Their thoughts/conce
  9. The almighty question, will it support online multiplayer needs to be answered.
  10. I think you meant tecmobowl.org? There are links on their site with a farewell message pointing towards places where you can get rom hacks and other tools.
  11. We will make every effort to stay clear of King of 94's schedule for two reasons. Common decency, and not wanting to put people in a tough spot where they'd have to make a choice between one or the other. While I'm no Nostradamus, and I think our NHL94 tournament is awesome, I wouldn't expect anyone to choose us over KO94 in a tight scheduling window, unless they were regionally closer to us, or didn't have a passport. The idea regarding the Sunday schedule would be to piggy back on our already well-populated Full Nelson Tecmo tournament in Green Bay, so we'd simply be expanding the wee
  12. Haha, that is what's known as a "fan mask". Since I am enormous it looks awful, and for that I love it. I appreciate the feedback everyone, please keep it coming.
  13. Now that the annual Full Nelson Tecmo event we run in Green Bay every Fall has concluded, the lidless, great eye of my attention shifts to other matters, including the future of this NHL94 tournament for 2021. I continue to lean on the feedback of those who have attended our events, and have wanted to, but haven't been able to yet. The general attitude of retro gamers, being willing to travel to events, varies per individual. That isn't the point of this discussion, as most of those who do attend our NHL94 events have made it abundantly clear that circumstances surrounding mandato
  14. I hope everyone is doing well. Normally about this time of year, we'd be dipping our toes in the waters of tournament planning. Lord knows it's awesome when people can gather, break bread, and enjoy a common activity. For us, NHL94 isn't just an activity, it's a passion, one that many of you share, and that's why exist. We exist to share that passion with others. We know each and every weekend is a valuable commodity, and we're honored every time one of you decides to spend it with us at our NHL94 tournaments. It is our heart's desire to hold an event in 2021. We want to see ev
  15. Cmon man, gotta get the one that matches the blue ice.
  16. I empathize greatly with my friends over on the East Coast who have experienced a lot of isolation and and frustration this year. I am so grateful that we were able to do what we did, when we did it. At current, things are much different here in Wisconsin outside of Milwaukee. Time will tell if we can pull off something worth holding. As most of our player base is a long distance traveling one, knowing where you guys stand is quite important, and I thank you for the frank feedback. I'll continue to poke my head into here as things develop in the world. I do appreciate each and ev
  17. Sorry this is a long post, but there is a lot to get to. Well it's hard to believe, but it's been nearly 6 months since the Modano Mo Problems NHL94 tournament in Minneapolis at the Pourhouse Uptown! In some ways it feels like yesterday, and in others it feels like it was 2 years ago. So much has changed regarding public events, how they're viewed by the public, and the general risk associated with having them. This view varies depending on where you are, and how hard Covid has hit your respective communities. It's very hard to tell the future, but here are my wishes for
  18. The Model 3 is an official clone console if that makes sense. It was licensed by Sega, but produced by a 3rd party, and even had its own 6 button controller complete with autofire options. It works with the 1st party 3/6 button controllers. It lacks the ability to work with the add on consoles like the Sega CD, but is region free, meaning you play foreign carts with it. It's very light and doesn't take up much space. I have either 2 or 3 of them, and they work great for tournaments. My major complaint is that due to their lack of weight, they are prone to moving. I run the Edge of 9
  19. That's a Mort level maneuver. His mid Tecmo tournament naps are legendary.
  20. I legit was concerned buying product from there when I saw that site. I wonder if that turns away business.
  21. @clockwiseIf there is no 4 star graphic representing GA, then what is this life for? Am I missing something, or are you scoring on the Minnesota Wild?
  22. Use this feature, but don't have users connect to it, save one-two people who will stream this on the Internet with commentary on a public platform like Twitch/Facebook/Youtube. IE Smoz competes against Chris 0 in Genesis. Smoz streams his screen to the Discord server feature just mentioned. Trojan and Angryjay capture the game footage into OBS and stream on the preferred gaming platform. Users are then invited to chat in the stream on said platform, and the general public can see this as well.
  23. Would really like to see some board sponsors like Tim Hortons
