1. this weekend was the first time i got to try out the new ratings with another human player. gameplay was fine, but a little slow. i played as the canes, he played as new jersey.

i am considering bumping (just about) every non-elite player's speed and agility ratings 5 points. after some research, it is clear that i have made a slower game than the original nhl95, whereas players in the nhl are even faster now than they were then. in keeping with the spirit of the game, i'm rating everyone relative to everyone else, rather than everyone relative to everyone else relative to nhl95's original ratings, but i think i was a little too careful.

the other side of the argument is two-fold: first, the NHL from around 1994 to 1997 probably saw the greatest talent influx ever as the Iron Curtain opened, and two, some of the fastest players aren't even included in the game because of expansion.

    thoughts?

Yes, perhaps the game (or the player raitings) is a little bit to slow for my personally. I like a fast and exciting game with a lot of actions, with 2 teams sharing a lot of chances to score. Not a dead second in the game

Also the endurance is important. The first and second line (where your best players are) should be able to skate the ice up and down for at least 2 min I think. Now they get tired after 1 min... :( Perheps more differance in skill (skating, endurance, passing) between 1st-2nd line and 3-4rd liners?

It should be fun to play and if the speed is to slow you get frustrated when you play a long game with 20 min periods. Higher raitings give you a more exciting gameplay in my opinion. :D But it's easy to edit it yourself if you have time, NHL-knowledge and a NHL95-editor..

  2. Only 7 downloads  ??? I guess people haven't found this thread. Yet. :)

At least I found some time to play a final game of the season with Red Wings. Zetterberg scored a great goal vs. St. Louis.

And I like to look at all the statistics from my season. Some thoughts: Sidney Crosby was only 4rd by points in his own team. I would like him better.

Edmonton came up with a great season. And Scott Niedermayer scored 46 goals  !

And finally I found it hard to see the numbers on the redwings jersey on Line Editor. I coundn't see any number at all  . Some thing to cheek up...

I guess we have to wait to after christmas to see Mats Sundin and Peter Forsberg on the ice in NHL. Go and play!

  3. Ok, I'll send it back. I did a few goalies into the b's, but not many. There are a few guys with unedited stats, but none of them have high enough stats to matter.

Oh, and I made Kris Letang a righty.

Real Life has kept me busy, so this is better off in your hands.

Edit: Removed the attachment, considering it's messed up and people seem to be downloading it.

<_< Good job! Your hard work reminds me of the days when me and my brother where nuts with all these raitings. Hope I can play a season later.. Many thanks again. :dal_skater_hand_grab:

  4. So yeah, as I said in my earlier message. I've downloaded it 2 times now, both times it gives me an incomplete zip file with unexpected end of archive, what gives?

I think nhl94.com having problem with files. Therefor I uploaded the file to another free service that provide files. Try download It from this adress: http://www.gratisupload.dk/show.php?fileId=5358

    Good Luck! :)

  5. Sure, I'd appreciate the help.

Here's my very latest update. (Attached). There are more than a few "psychedelic logos" because the palette colors have been changed. If you (or someone) have a quick fix for that, then go for it.

Nice work so far. :P But don't forget to import on both home and away jerseys.

Here are some In-Game Logos made by me to import. Some aren't that good. For example : Edmonton, Washington and Vancouver. Perheps use the original to those teams. I hope this is a little bit help for you.

    Look at Pittsburgh

    :P

  6. How about if I make some more progress on the jerseys before I send them? If I can get them done this weekend, so much the better.

I'll add Minnesota and Atlanta to the list. Colorado and New Jersey just got scratched off my list since they're reportedly not changing anything. Still waiting on Edmonton, Dallas, St Louis, Toronto, Phoenix, and Anaheim.

I need to do something about the striping on Washington, since the game can't put the vertical stripes on only one side, and what I've got looks kind of awkward. I'm either going to make it a midline shoulder stripe, or eliminate it from the shoulders and leave it on the sleeves.

I also have to fix the socks and striping on various teams.

    I'll keep you posted.

EDIT: Check your PMs. Only a few left.

Do you Need help with the In-game Logos?

  7. Try this:

Running NHL '95 on your Hard Drive

From more than 500 MB of storage space possible on a CD, NHL '95 only takes up 105 MB. Lucky for you, though, because if you have enough storage space, you can run the game on your hard drive! Simply copy all of the files on the CD to the desired directory on your hard drive. Then create a file called nhl.cfg with the following information:

    0003

C <--The partition you want to be running on

    HOCKEY.EXE

[...] <--Insert the text from allfiles.txt on the CD

That's all you need to do. The major difference is that the seek time on the hard disk is much faster than on the CD-ROM. You will notice a signifiant decrease in the time spent to change screens, for example, when you're looking up statistics. Gameplay won't be much faster, though, since it does not perform disk seeks.

  8. sorry to bring up an old topic here, but im having a problem getting the game working. after i get it installed and follow the instructions to play, i get the error message "COULD NOT OPEN ALLFILES.TXT FILE." anybody have any clue how to go about fixing this?

  9. This seems like a great package. Thank you very much.

Too bad I didn't realise to save the old rosters and everything when I still had my Jaff's EA NHL Page around. It would have been cool if you had included the original text files to the roster packages as well, indicating who has been the author creating the updates. Would have been nice to know beforehand which of the roster updates would have been created by us. But I hope we recognize them when we start using them, if some of them happen to be ours ;) At least Our nhl95adds graphic package seemed to be included ;) Thank you for great archiving work!

Thanks everyone! The rosters you are talking about are downloaded from a guy called sllau, that also made a editor (nhl9395.zip). He made own rosters with his editors and put it on his website. But it doesn't longer exist

I tried my best to tell were I got all the stuff. But you can't be 100% right. I hope you'll enjoy all the stuff anyway.
