feivelclark
Im working on a KHL rom encompassing the the rosters of the end of the KHL regular season / playoffs. Ive completed the roster and uniforms of Ak Bars and this is a screenshot of Ak Bars playing against itself. Let me know what you think of the uniforms and what can be improved. Next I am going to do Loko and then possibly release a two team demo just to guage interest and get some feedback on gameplay etc. topshelf has told me he will help with banners. If anyone wants to help with anything else that would be great. Also if you know anything about russian hockey and are willing to help me with figuring lines out that would be greatly appreciated. I dont read russian and information on english sites is very limited so I am doing my best to approximate lines based on game recaps and information from eurohockey.net thanks in advance. Now time for some sleep. Edit: Thanks to Smozoma for his weight bug fix and to Tantrix for sharing his findings on fatigue and for helping me with Hex Workshop. feivelclark
New Ron Barr text. I fiddled around with the variables in the code so that the names are displayed before locations. That way on the game menu the team is listed by location (using both names caused some problems due to trying to display have too many characters) but as you can see in the pregame briefing it still appears as Lokomotiv Yaroslavl or Ak Bars Kazan. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to replace Ron Barr with... or should I just leave him there? Edit: o_0 is "eager to cheer them on" grammatically ambiguous? clockwise
Does Molotov cocktail have a team? I'm unfamiliar with the KHL so I can't help you in the player ratings or player lines department. But I'm duty bound to protect and serve the edit'tees ever since Wboy bestowed the knowledge of TeH hAxoRzz!!1 In return for his help I will help others with their editing projects in the future. And vow to never use the, "That's not a knife..This is a knife." joke while handling cutlery ever again. For uniforms use NOSE's color sniper to take pixel samples of pictures you may have. And make sure the uniforms have some semblance of gradation. The more colors allocated for them the more colors at your disposal for ice logos - as they share the same palette. Plus they will add dimension to their appearance IE: Team banners are pretty easy. I'm pretty sure Wboy's 30 team reference screens has a sample of the text used in the banners that you can dissect the letters and put them back together to make a banner. And I don't know if Ron Barr has a Russian counterpart, but could I interest you in some stick tape?
feivelclark
Thanks :-D Ive already applied your stick-tape and sprite enhancements which are awesome. I've also used swos strip hack to make representing the jerseys a whole lot easier. I just wish I could figure out how to take the sprites out of one of his roms and apply it over the wboy 30 team rom. Or else I guess I will just use end using his 09 update rom as a base. I saw in a thread where you explained how it was possible to view the sprites in tile molestor and even though I thought that I followed the instructions I came up with nothing :/ I'll try again later. I think once I get the hang of some of these things I should be able to work alot faster. Since I didnt take notes when I started to work out my rating system and kinda just had everything in my head i find myself having to constantly reference back to players Ive already made to see how I scaled things. Also I figured out yesterday that Google has the ability to translate things which is a lifesaver. I was using hockeydb and eurohockey.net as references but was finding alot of conflicting information. Now I have access to the treasure trove of information from the KHL team websites. The new order of business is as follows 1. Create a write down a player rating system/chart 2. Tweak the completed ak bars roster and fix the player weights 3. Finish Lokomotiv roster 4. test and simulate 5. tweak game mechanics as needed 6. figure out how to molest tiles 7. release demo Time Frame: when I get to it :-D But maybe expect some screenshots and possibly even short video clips much later today or possibly tommorow. Ive already got the top line for Loko so I may play a game with line changes off or something. Edited April 29, 2009 by feivelclark

Thanks I know Ive been using it/the team websites/fan sites and blogs. I just found a website that has videos from every ak bars game. So Im using it to piece together the lines and such. If anyone knows anything about line combinations please message me. Would save me the time of watching potentially hours of game video. The Russian Rocket
Well i do know the first 2 lines of Salavet Yulaev Aleksey Tereschenko-Alexander Perezhogin-Alexander Radulov Vladimir Antipov-Vladimir Vorobiev-Andrei Tarathukin. Thats pretty much all i know, but a quick tip would be to associate the points and the + and -'s linemates usually have similar stats in these categories And as Ron Barr, you could put up the President of the league Mr Medvedev. Just an Idea Edited April 30, 2009 by The Russian Rocket
JF@^
http://www.championshockeyleague.com/index.php?id=69 This is the website for the CHL - Champions Hockey League (Another Great Idea For A Rom...) They have line combos for the 2 KHL teams that played. Take a look. Edited April 30, 2009 by JF@^
The Russian Rocket
Hmmm weird, i tought Radulov played on the 1st line, must have been recent he's not, because i recall a lot of Perezhogin-Radulov plays, but anyways.
JF@^
The CHL was played in December or January I think, so they may have changed it up since then... At least it's a referance point...
feivelclark
Yeah I was thinking of putting Medvedev in the place of Ron Barr. The the way I am doing lines right now is by looking at scoresheets for games to see goals and assists plus also looking at videos when available. Things would be alot simpler if the team websites put primary positions even but they basically only write Forward or Defense. My top line right now looks for ak bars looks like Morozov - Zaripov - Martensson but in alot of videos it looks like Morozov is sometimes playing right wing also. I get the feeling that they switch positions as they play and arent so constricted but maybe I'm just crazy. Thanks for the link JF@^ and for the lines The Russian Rocket. JF@^
How do you think you'll come up with the player ratings? I like what saw76 has done with his roms & ratings.
feivelclark
How do you think you'll come up with the player ratings?I like what saw76 has done with his roms & ratings. Most of the ratings are between three and four distributed according to player strengths and weaknesses. I gave Morozov a five in offensive awareness but he only has a two in defensive awareness. In cases where this caused certain players to be too good I tweaked other ratings to tone down their awesomeness (lowered offensive awareness if they arent awesome scorers or toned down shot power / accuracy. I dont like how in NHL94 players at the NHL level sometimes have ridiculously low ratings. Keeping most of the players average rated makes the game more even but the star scorers and such still have an advantage. For instance I have been doing tests by playing ak bars against itself. I usually win but have been upset by the computer before or the computer has managed to usually keep it close. The cpu has shown the ability to set up one timers and has even score on breakaways and other situations. I then played a game no line changes of myself as the top line vs the bottom line and blew the cpu out 11 - 2. I'm also going to tweak fatigue to force the player to use all the lines. I don't know if I'm making any sense at the moment but I'll post some player ratings tommorow to give you an idea. I used the BvH updated Rosters for 09 to give me a general idea of each player and then supplemented that by reviewing stats, reading articles, and watching some video. Need sleep now. Goodnight everyone.

feivelclark
accidently deleted the folder on the other computer that contained what little work I had got done. I may start over but I don't know how likely that is. Right now in rabbinical college I don't have so much time. It is more likely that I will do an olympic rom or something but well see. floating
Has there been any KHL roms during the years ? Is anyone working on a KHL 2013-2014 rom ? EA Sports is not including the KHL in the latest nhl games they produce, it would be nice to get a look on this league through a game, and what better than through nhl94. I could add the player names and attributes based on simple G,A, PIM stats, if someone were to do the graphics. Of course it is preferred if someone actually knows more about the players and could do a credible work on player attributes...

I might include like, um maybe the 87' Canadian and Soviet Junior teams or maybe summit series. If I have room. BTW: I will be using Genesis
