Pete Rose

Recommended Posts

I know this isn't NHL related but still.

Words have been going around that, Pete Rose might be soon unbanned from the MLB, and could be inducted into the hall of fame.

Personally, i think that, if they do, they should let Shoeless Joe Jackson in before, as he been cleared from his crimes a long time ago, and Rose, absolutely not.

Your toughts?

Maybe, but Jackson isn't the all-time leader in hits which is a pretty big trump card.

Maybe it has something to do with being banned after only 10 years of play. He was 3rd in History for Battin Average Career. And some season slugging average over ,500 , despite notching less than 10 HR, that's an impressive feat

Yeah but Peter picked a pack of pickled peppers.. I'd like to know how many dead presidents he actually got from gambling on his own team, but driving that Delorean with monster truck wheels to BP was too obvious.

It's nice to see that somebody else knows a bit about Jackson and appreciates the history for once. Joe Jackson is the greatest left-fielder of all time, period. He was Joe DiMaggio before there was Joe DiMaggio. Contact, power, running, fielding... he was the best. His arm was amazing as well! Banning Jackson for life was one of the biggest crimes against humanity. When you observe the statistics, there was no way that he threw the series. According to Jackson's grand jury testimony, he never got the money; he believes Gandil swindled him and other teammates and took off with the money.

Back in Jackson's day, there were many parks where you had to hit between 460-480 feet just to hit a homerun over the wall. And this was the dead-ball era! Guys like Babe Ruth and Josh Gibson would make a mockery of the HR records nowadays with today's juiced baseballs and sandbox ballparks.

Yes, and from Babe Ruth himself, he said his swinging technique was taken from Joe's.

But for the home run, i think in the time, each team had only 1 pitcher or so, so he was wearing down fast, and probably isn't efficient as the frest 5-6 guys rotation nowadays.
