smozoma Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Here are the protection groups. (Done this) I will be posting the full draft order tonight, too, so you'll know exactly what picks you have. (Done this) What I need from you right now is: Your choice of your top 2 players from your first row. If one of them gets drafted, I'll protect the other one for you. (If one was already drafted, then I just need the one you want me to protect). Please PM me this information, with the subject "Round 2 Protection." So, by the time the 1st round is done, we should also have all the 2nd round protection picks done, so when the 1.24 pick is made, we're actually done both the first and second rounds. When the 1st/2nd round is done, then there will be a 24+ hour period where you can trade your picks/protection slots. The time period will be enough to give you a fair time to do trades, and synch up well with the day/night/work cycle, and will be at least 24 hours from when the last 1st/2nd round pick is made. You can trade: Your 1st round player pick. Your 2nd round protection pick player. Any free round picks (3rd, 5th, etc). Any "protection slots" corresponding to rows 4, 6, 8, and 10 in the table below. Any player you will be protecting with a protection slot. Note that you can't trade your 2nd round protection SLOT, just the player you picked. See the Trade Thread for more details on trading rules (limits, balance, etc). Your protections from the other rounds will be done in secret. You will send them to me through PM. The reason it's done in secret is so there is no advantage to waiting for everyone else to protect first so you know what players are available. All the protection picks will be revealed at the same time: At the end of the 24+ hour trade period. You can send me your protection list and update it if necessary any time before the end of the trade period. So, here is the timeline: 1st/2nd Round: People will be making their 1st round picks in the Round 1 thread I need your 2nd round protection choices. PM me with subject "Round 2 Protection" if you haven't sent me this info yet. You should be thinking about your other protection choices, and you can even send them to me if you want, but you can update them later if necessary. PM me with subject "Round 4-10 Protections". Use the reply option in the PM conversation if you need to make changes. [*]1st/2nd Round Ends 24+ hour protection pick trading period begins Send me your final protection choices before the end of the trading period (under the subject "Round 4-10 Protections"). If I never get your choices, I'll just pick the players in the order they appear on the lines in the list.. [*]Protection Pick Trading Period Ends Using your choices, I take an hour or so to fill in the database with all the protection picks. I'll update the database with any other trades made (picks, players, etc) Round 3 starts You can trade normally. Any trades you made before count against the overall limit. You protect one player for each row, unless you traded away your protection for that row or acquired another one. You can even protect a player from a LOWER row if you want. For example, if you are ANH and you would rather have Lowe than Fetisov or Ridley, you can in fact choose Lowe for your 4th round protection, since he is from a lower (later) round. (you can not acquire another protection for the Round 2 row) ANH 2 (F) Mike Gartner , (F) Esa Tikkanen , (G) Chris Terreri ANH 4 (D) Vachslav Fetisov , (F) Mike Ridley ANH 6 (D) Kevin Lowe , (D) Rob Ramage ANH 8 (F) Alexnder Semak , (D) Brian Glynn ANH 10 (F) Troy Murray , (G) Mario Gosselin , (F) Andrei Lomakin BOS 2 (G) Patrick Roy , (F) Wayne Gretzky , (F) Rod BrindAmour BOS 4 (F) Denis Savard , (F) Dale Hawerchuk BOS 6 (D) Gerald Diduck , (D) Scott Niedrmayer BOS 8 (F) John Cullen , (D) Sandis Ozolinsh BOS 10 (F) Kevin Miller , (G) Guy Hebert , (D) Patrice Brisebois BUF 2 (F) Sergei Fedorov , (D) Scott Stevens , (F) Trevor Linden BUF 4 (D) Steve Smith , (F) Brendan Shanahan BUF 6 (G) Mike Richter , (D) Bryan Marchment BUF 8 (D) Darius Kasparitis , (G) Wendell Young BUF 10 (F) Keith Tkachuk , (F) Zdeno Ciger , (F) Darrin Shannon CGY 2 (F) Mats Sundin , (F) Adam Oates , (D) Gary Suter CGY 4 (G) Ron Hextall , (D) Steve Duchesne CGY 6 (D) Alexei Zhitnik , (F) Mike Ricci CGY 8 (F) Joe Murphy , (D) Doug Bodger CGY 10 (G) Ron Tugnutt , (F) Dallas Drake , (F) Dave Poulin CHI 2 (F) Jeremy Roenick , (F) Pierre Turgeon , (G) Felix Potvin CHI 4 (F) Vladimir Ruzicka , (D) Curtis Leschyshyn CHI 6 (D) Matt Schneider , (F) Paul Ranheim CHI 8 (D) Bruce Driver , (F) Sylvain Turgeon CHI 10 (F) Brian Noonan , (G) Rick Knickle , (D) Jim Johnson DAL 2 (F) Russ Courtnall , (F) Gary Roberts , (D) Marty McSorley DAL 4 (F) Cliff Ronning , (G) Jon Casey DAL 6 (D) Doug Lidster , (D) Michel Petit DAL 8 (F) Brent Sutter , (F) Darren Turcotte DAL 10 (G) Pat Jablonski , (D) Bill Houlder , (F) Colin Patterson DET 2 (F) Jimmy Carson , (F) Benoit Hogue , (F) Pat Verbeek DET 4 (G) John Blue , (D) Eric Desjardins DET 6 (D) Eric Weinrich , (F) Bobby Holik DET 8 (D) Dana Murzyn , (F) Dale Hunter DET 10 (F) Michal Pivonka , (G) Frank Pietrngelo , (D) Ken Daneyko EDM 2 (F) Alexnder Mogilny , (F) Geoff Courtnall , (D) Gord Murphy EDM 4 (G) Kirk McLean , (D) Glen Wesley EDM 6 (F) Paul Ysebaert , (D) Alexei Gusarov EDM 8 (F) Greg Adams , (F) Glenn Anderson EDM 10 (D) Sylvain Cote , (F) Andrew Cassels , (G) Dominic Roussel HFD 2 (D) Phil Housley , (F) Mark Recchi , (G) Tim Cheveldae HFD 4 (F) Alexei Zhamnov , (D) Fredrik Olausson HFD 6 (F) Peter Stastny , (F) Joe Juneau HFD 8 (D) Paul Cavallini , (F) John MacLean HFD 10 (D) Jeff Norton , (F) Bob Carpenter , (G) Andre Racicot L.A 2 (F) Dino Ciccarelli , (D) Paul Coffey , (F) Doug Gilmour L.A 4 (G) Curtis Joseph , (D) Don Sweeney L.A 6 (F) Owen Nolan , (D) Igor Kravchuk L.A 8 (F) Nelson Emerson , (D) Sergei Zubov L.A 10 (F) Alexei Kovalev , (F) Perry Berezan , (G) Daniel Berthiaume MTL 2 (F) Steve Yzerman , (D) Rob Blake , (D) Dave Ellett MTL 4 (F) Bob Probert , (G) Dominik Hasek MTL 6 (F) Kevin Dineen , (F) Stephan Lebeau MTL 8 (F) Brent Ashton , (D) Vladimir Konstantov MTL 10 (D) Bob Beers , (F) Doug Weight , (G) Jeff Hackett N.J 2 (D) Ray Bourque , (F) Steve Larmer , (D) Al MacInnis N.J 4 (F) Valeri Kamensky , (F) Christan Ruuttu N.J 6 (F) Geoff Sanderson , (G) Kelly Hrudey N.J 8 (F) Nikolai Borshevsky , (D) Norm Maciver N.J 10 (D) Greg Hawgood , (F) Mike Donnelly , (G) Mark Fitzpatrik NYI 2 (F) Peter Bondra , (D) Dave Manson , (G) Tom Barrasso NYI 4 (F) Joe Nieuwendyk , (F) Tony Granato NYI 6 (F) Dave Gagner , (F) Wendel Clark NYI 8 (D) Luke Richardson , (D) Frank Musil NYI 10 (D) Darryl Sydor , (G) Darcy Wakaluk , (F) Mike Eagles NYR 2 (F) Eric Lindros , (G) Grant Fuhr , (F) Stephane Richer NYR 4 (D) James Patrick , (F) Shayne Corson NYR 6 (D) Richard Smehlik , (D) Adam Burt NYR 8 (F) Gary Leeman , (F) Terry Yake NYR 10 (D) Kerry Huffman , (G) Jim Waite , (F) Gilbert Dionne OTT 2 (F) Tomas Sandstrom , (D) Kevin Hatcher , (F) Brian Bellows OTT 4 (F) Ron Francis , (G) Daren Puppa OTT 6 (D) Mikhail Tatarinov , (F) Craig Janney OTT 8 (F) Craig Simpson , (D) J.J. LA Robbie Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Just something that's confused me: I've told you who I want to protect in rounds 4,6,8 & 10. If someone I didn't protect in round 4 is still available in round 6 (OK, probably unlikely, but, in theory) can I change my round 6 protection pick to the guy I didn't protect in round 4, essentially protecting the better player? RedWingDevil Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 It's all done, boyo. I sent you my list. Quote

This is a good question. The scenario does sound like a frustrating one (you had to protect a worse player than one still available in the draft), but there won't be a good time to switch the players, so I have to say, no, you can't switch them. Also, what if you switch them, then someone who already picked says, if that player you just dropped was available, I would have taken him. Then we have to roll back the draft, etc etc Quote
smozoma Posted March 28, 2012 Author Report Posted March 28, 2012 Full draft order: http://blitz94.com/draftab/makepick.asp The replacement coaches cycle through the order a bit differently, in order to try to even things out a bit. Quote
dcicon5148 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 So for my understanding, if Gilmour, who I would never protect in round 2, goes undrafted in round 3. That means I couldn't protect him in round 4? But I would have to protect probably Sweeney who I drafted last year in round 6. Quote

If he's my player still shouldn't I have the right to change my protect pick at the end of round 5, but not before? Quote
xdeathsbloodx Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Guys, forget rounds. Technically round 2 is ALL the protection picks. The picks aren't being made round by round. Quote
dcicon5148 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Guys, forget rounds. Technically round 2 is ALL the protection picks. The picks aren't being made round by round. Yes. But you could still trade regular draft picks for protect picks. If I really wanted to protect 2 guys in round 2 I could trade my 3rd for an additional protect pick as an example. Quote
xdeathsbloodx Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Well your half right, we aren't allowed to trade for any other 2nd rd picks. And just because we can trade for more or trade them away doesn't mean they have to be an actual seperate chronological/numerical round Edited March 28, 2012 by xdeathsbloodx Quote

xdeathsbloodx Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Yeah kinda, but it keeps some bigger name players open for rnd 3 Quote
smozoma Posted March 28, 2012 Author Report Posted March 28, 2012 I admit, it's kinda lame not to be able to trade 2nd round protects, but the idea is that it gives a little more choice in rounds 1 and 3. Once the 1st/2nd round is over, then there is a time period where you can trade anything, including protection slots. One thing xdeaths pointed out is, you shouldn't really think of the protection picks as happening at a specific round time. It's more useful to think of it as though you are a GM and you signed a bunch of your players all at once, and then the rest of the draft happens. Quote

You can update your protections any time before that (in case you trade stuff) I did send you a list; it was just a rather short one considering the team I had last season. And considering that I got Chelios and lost Muller, there isn't much I have worth protecting except Sean Burke. Quote
smozoma Posted March 30, 2012 Author Report Posted March 30, 2012 whoops, my PM inbox filled up. I cleared some space, so if you tried to send a list and it was rejected, try again! Quote
