Of those southern teams that won the cup, 4 are in the bottom 12 in team revenue. 0 from north of the border. ;)

you're right and those teams (except Dallas) have flourishing fan bases. however, Phoenix has been on the brink for 4 years (finally got the lease) and Florida just plain sucks. Atlanta ended up moving (north of the border) because they couldn't get 12,000 people into the building. however, San Jose and Nashville are doing well so it isn't a complete failure in all departments but in about 40% of cases it was a complete and utter bomb

Actually agree with Bettman? Weird.

NHL in Seattle should be a no brainer. Hopefully they will pick a mascot that will push the NCAI over the edge. This could be better for chances to expand in the east too; who knows if this could be a gateway for Quebec, Hamilton, or a second tm in Toronto to even the odds.

I think a 32 team league is inevitable with the way the realignment was setup. Could easily put a team in Seattle and another in Kansas City to have 4 divisions of 8. You're tapping into 2 very good sports cities and it works out geographically.
