smozoma
So I read the other day that the free version of LogMeIn is closing down. Is that the same thing as Hamachi? Is this a problem for everyone? Apparently the alternative is TeamViewer.
Brutus
Uh oh!! So, this is the Hamachi product. If you goto http://my.hamachi.cc/status it takes you to logmein.com, and the site talks about after 7 days, your free account won't work anymore. PlabaxV2
Just use the OG one, if thats not what brutus was referring to.
Brutus
I'm not 100% sure. It states that the IP of your host computer will stop working after 7 days. It says you will be sent via email about this, but when I set it up, I don't recall setting up an email, just downloading it from the site. So, is the Hamachi we use a different thing that what they are now charging for? I use the Hamachi I got from nhl94.com, and never upgraded to commercial. However, within the preferences, it shows me a link for the listed site, which when you click on it, takes you logmein.com, and gives you all this info about not being free any longer. Guess I'll find out in 7 days (along w/ everyone else)
chaos
I'm thinking this won't affect Hamachi. Team Viewer is one of those remote desktop programs, I've used it before. Hamachi is different. LogMeIn has a different service that is a VPN like Team Viewer, and that must be the one they refer to. I can't find anything about Hamachi shutting down. We'll see in 7 days lol
dcicon5148
Chaos is correct. This is the remote access product they have similar to Team Viewer and GotoMyPC. This will not impact Hamachi.
halfMANhalfDONUT
If you were looking for an alternative to Hamachi, you might want to check out Tunngle.
