McMikey
Hey guys in couple weeks a landed an interview with a "notorious" 90's NHL'er. What general top 5 questions would you like to hear asked to a guy that was in NHL '94 or was playing in that era? aqualizard
Is it Roenick?Close up on Jeremy Roenick's face and ask: Are you aware that you are regarded as the #1 player n NHL'94?Close up on Jeremy Roenick's face and ask: Are you aware that there was a weight bug glitch, which made light players good checkers, and that is a big part of why you are #1? (Although "notorious" makes me think it's a goon.) Edited January 27, 2016 by aqualizard
smozoma
When did he first hear about the NHL(PA) video games? Did he ever play it in that time period? With other NHLers? Or did he know there were some guys who were into it (any names?)? Did he play other video games as a kid or player? (arcades, atari, NES, SNES, Sega, etc)
Premium
Fun fact: Roenick only seems so dominant because of the boost he gets with Chicago. Play with him in a draft league and see how he's not all that special in comparison to Yzerman, Mogilny and Klima.

TomKabs93
I always found Mogilny crazy fast. Mogs is too fast, I hate using him
kingraph
For 99% of people who played '94, Roenick IS dominant. Speed, shot, and 4 weight, making him impossible to knock down with a regular check. Plus Chicago with Belfour adds to his virtual dominance. Mogs is amazing, learn to harness his speed! Back on topic, I had similar questions to smozoma. * Did the players start playing the video games against each other? * Did they ever trash talk each other/complain about ratings? * Any stories playing hockey video games would be fun to hear. Especially if it ended up in a heated argument! * Do you realize the impact of video games to kids during that era. Pre-internet, most kids knew the entire rosters of teams because of playing the hell out of the game. And general skill level! haha. * 1994 New York Rangers....greatest Stanley Cup ever...right? IceStorm70
Hey guys in couple weeks a landed an interview with a "notorious" 90's NHL'er. What general top 5 questions would you like to hear asked to a guy that was in NHL '94 or was playing in that era? Were there any attributes for your player that you disagreed with? Were you too fast? Too slow etc? If you played, which other team did you enjoy playing with? How close to the original starting 5 did you use? Did you need to sub in yourself? Also maybe point out, 'Hey Andrew Cassel (or whoever it is), did you know you are always subbed out for Mikael Nylander?' Were you glad fighting was removed because you wouldn't have faired very well? Or vice versa Line changes on or off? Was Petr Klima that good? CoachMac
That is awesome Mikey. I think I know the answers to some of my questions. How did you like the wt bug? How did you like the removal of fighting? Marty was awesome, I know that I was always mad that Igor Kuperman gave him an 85 fight rating in 93. Side note on 93 and a question for Marty. Odjick, McRae, Probert, and Domi were the 100's in 93. Who would he give 100's too? Would he give himself a 100? smozoma
Getting McSorley's take on the fighting removal would be perfect. Apparently he had 225 NHL fights...

CoachMac
I will e-mail you all the fight ratings. I use to run a 93 draft league where 6 of your 10 players had to have a 71 or better fight rating. It was fun Raph won the last one as a replacement coach. I called it Hitz as a play on Blitz of course it was wbf. http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/15941-nhlpa-93-hitz-playoffs/ If a guy named 77 checks in he makes some nice fighter roms including the Charlestown Chiefs and Syracuse Bulldogs. http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/9767-nhl-toughguys/
CoachMac
http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/2755-the-real-top-fighters-in-the-game/ You need at least one guy rated to 71 to have a fight. Ratings for fighting went 0, 14, 28, 42, 57, 71, 85, 100 No one was rated 57. I'll type up 92 later it was way different and had way more fights. Marty was only rated 80 in 92 as it was aggression/fighting combined and completely based on PIM's. Ray, Peluso, Probert, Berube were the 100's in 92. 100 Probert Domi Odjick McRae 85 Byers May Ray Donnelly Berube Grimson Buchberger Manson Kastelic Vukota McSorley Churla Nilan McKay Kocur Peluso Brown Caufield Twist Gaetz Hunter Hartman Baumgartner Cronin Roenick 28 Gretzky 0 Larmer 28 Ronning 0 Anderson 42 Edited January 28, 2016 by CoachMac
angryjay93
- was it difficult balancing being a top 4 defender with being a heavyweight NHL fighter? would you show much discretion in who you fought or when you fought them? -Did your coach give you the green light to fight as you saw fit or did they try to reign you in and have you focus on just playing hockey? -Was there anyone in the league you wish you could have gotten your hands on or desperately needed their clock cleaned? -Did any of the established fighters in the league seem legitimately crazy and seemed willing to disregard the "fighting code"? -How do you feel about the sharp reduction in fighting in todays NHL as compared to the NHL you played in? CoachMac
Here is a screenshot from a little rom I will whip up for you Mikey. It is funny to see Gretzky leveling Probert and Yzerman and Ray Sheppard abusing Marty. I'll fix the wt bug before posting. I will put all the fighters on the first line. I'll post it tomorrow night. Guys who got screwed: Jim McKenzie 28 Shayne Corson 42 Wendel Clark 42 Kelly Chase 42 Guys overrated: Glen Wesley 71 Gord Murphy
Bob Kudelski
I guess I'd be most interested in hearing what the league was like in 92/3 and 93/94 season (the era reflected by NHL 94). Who was the toughest player in the league in 92/93? How did you enjoy playing in the old arenas like Boston Gardens, Maple Leaf Gardens, Chicago Stadium? What is your favourite hockey arena organ song? (give him some choices) How did you manage to score three shorthanded goals as a defenceman in 1992/93? Is there a current NHLer that reminds you of yourself?
