when i was in high school the kids played downloaded flash games off of usb sticks mostly

At our school, we're not allowed to download it to our desktop. I wonder if I can run NHL 94 on Gens completely inside a USB.

My phone doesn't support bluetooth controllers, but I have used an emulator before.

You can use a USB.

what emulator for a iphone can i use? also does it have to be jailbroken?

You can run all emulator and roms right from a USB drive, as far as I know nothing needs to be installed. Now, of course,  you couldn't play online or anything.

I had an idea once, to take a USB controller and rig it to have all of the required NHL94 files built in, so all you had to do was plug in the controller and play. 

I can also play NHL94 (and anything else up to Playstation) using Retroarch for Android. Takes some setup, and using the touch controls can be tricky.. but fun time killer.

No idea, this should be google-able though...

However, you won't be able to play vs people online
