you know... never mind that for now.  your first attempt is going to be a confusing mess no matter what.  I think prerequisites may be watching some youtube hex hacking tutorials and reading then rereading the three main ROM editing sections of this messageboard.  we would probably be spinning some overkill until you poke around at your own pace a bit more.

No one looked at this..?

Sorry, it's still not clear what you are looking to do or what you would need help with.  Do you just want to replace names of the players?  Change the sprite graphics?  Replace player card photos?  If you can be more specific in your question or goal, that would help get you an answer.

I’m still confused about the edit page. I'm using iHex for my first rom hack, and I’m editing the side with the player’s name. Thing is, for example, what is the “dDC$DBD” beside Dave Gagner’s name? That’s why I’m confused.

It could be the length of the player name (which you'd need to edit in the number side of the hex editor).

However... This is Sega not SNES, right? You can use the NOSE NHL92-98 editor to edit players super easily. You can download it here:

I use Mac OS.

ahhh.

There is this thing called Wine that enables running some windows programs on Mac OS, worth a shot.

Here are more in-depth instructions for linux (which mac os is sort of a cousin of): http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/16863-nose-on-linux/

I used DarWINE with success.  gotta have some support files available, if I remember right.  it prompts with a message, search for the file it mentions and drop it into the folder from a download.
