Always liked the Sim GM games, where you act as GM/coach signing and trading players. Started with one called SIMHL, totally addicting. The site is still around, but has been hilariously locked on the same rosters and players from the early 2000's. Recently, I've been playing hockey.zengm.com . It's a good sim, that let's you play out entire seasons in about 30mins. No NHL licence, the teams/players are all fictional. You get to select your team (easy/med/hard all based on your city's population), and randomly assigned a group of players. You get to decide whether to add to it, or tear it down. All players have ratings based on the previous NHL season, and the games get simulated.
