I've moved the Stages to Word docs, this will make for a cleaner first post and easier access.  I made the mistake of not doing this earlier and it almost cost me all the information.  Learn and evolve.  Thank you to the NHL Forum for letting me continue this project here and for the help @chaos gave me to get all this information back.  Thank you all and please feel free to ask questions. 

Just know there is no time table for when this game will be "released".  If you see the beginning date of the thread I started on TBorg, you will see it has been a long work in progress.  (And we started hacking TSB3 about 5 years before this post)  It is nearing completion though, so follow along, ask questions and make suggestions.  Tecmo Super Bowl III will be a 32 team rom soon!  
 

The Quest For 32 - TSB4's Journey to Completion.

This thread is intended to be just a spot for the TSB fans to follow the process of the our TSB4 rom project. Here we will post each stage of converting the season from 30 teams / 6 divisions to 32 teams / 8 divisions. We will post coding we may need help on, updates on the status of certain codes, screen shots and videos. Stage Titles will be in "red" until completion. Once the Stage is complete it will be in "green". At some point the betas will be released in this thread. Something like this has not been tried on this site, and seeing as me and my brother (Hurricane55) are going in uncharted SNES waters, I thought this would give everyone a basic idea of what we do as we edit this game and maybe get some help on parts we might be stuck on. I will try not to jump around, but if we hit a dead spot, I will move to another section until I can figure out what ever issue we might have. This should be a great guide once we are done. The hacks we will need to do will pretty much cover the processes of hacking text, mapping sprite locations, and data adding (we will have to add 2 division that will be able to be selected in the menus). Also, I still have some cut scene hacking to do, and once you edit one cut scene, you'll have an outline of how to hack the remaining. I will be adding individual spreadsheets for backgrounds and cut scene sprites when I get to those edits. I'm going to try and keep this thread as nice and orderly as possible for easier navigation for future edits.

I'm in that same boat. I started with TSB 3 for Sega and started do the same for SNES. If you want and contributers.

I think you're fine. hacking is a generally collaborative community regardless of the game. welcome!

Yeah, however I never wrote anything down from my front page of the 32 team project.  I have contacted some people to see if I can get that still.  Hoping it's not too late, I really need some of those locations.... and I just started getting motivated again.  I will update my original post as the Information part of the thread.  I will post screen shots and other things to show off this project.

Have you tried using the wayback machine on archive.org? It takes screenshots of pages over time, there may be screenshots of the stuff you are looking for.

I don't think I could ever repay you for this information, I was able to find my thread and copy and paste it here.  This is everything I needed.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  My brother and me have been hacking this game off and on for 10 years.  The 32 Team mod has been 4 years of that.

New Team Control Menus, information for each team still needs to be adjusted, the text in this screen is just a place holder.  This screen also has button hacks to help navigate quicker.  It will also remember the last team you were on.  So you will always start with the last team that you were on when you come to this menu.

From this screen you can change your default Home and Away Jerseys.  You can also set this in exhibition when you are at the start screen before starting a game.  I added it to this menu for convenience.   There are some other things I have planned for this screen including a way to update the Grades, and changed offensive and defensive play styles.  I also have plans to try and code it so the Superbowl totals go up as you play the game.  That is on the back burner as I only have a small amount of the code needed for this.   At some point we will remove the create-a-player option and add a coaching editor that will include sliders for game speed (running and pass speed), power, clock speed and our AI chances % success rates.

I think I am shooting for at least an eight play beta.  Still waaaay too much work to release a completed rom.  But we do need to start testing the AI part out.  This weekend is about getting the face hack completed.  I need to figure out what is happening with the Trade and FA screens when you view the player.  It doesn't freeze the game, just doesn't load the way I want it to.  Default FA are not coming up correctly either.  Only after the FA mode is done does it give them the face I assigned to them on the Rom.

Have you cracked the graphics compression for TSB3?  

We really like TSB3 more for Sega but the graphics compression was the issue that kept us from hacking it.  Same for NBA Live.  We got lucky Coach K was an early EA title as they didn't compress any graphics that we could tell.

I've found where they all are, just needing to play with Tile molestar to find the proper palettes, and adjustment.

Also found a way to edit the rosters as well without issues.

I've already attempted to change it and have made progress to convert to a NCAA. And the rosters have been hacked and the team names just needing some adjustments.

So you found the graphics for the player helmets?  I think there were a couple of the logos that were compressed.  I will check my notes, I think I have quite a few locations we found for the Sega version.  We stopped when we couldn't find the compressed graphics.   We were too busy at to learn that stuff, though I found some programs to help.  TSB3 on the genesis had a wider view.  Think you can see 20+ yards as opposed to 15+ yards on the SNES.

Yeah the compressed versions, I found them in a few programs HIVE and palette editor to find the colors and to find there locations. Yeah you can see more yardage. I'm good at editing the players and some of graphics, just need to tinker with them more to find the proper settings. Plus the mini heads on big plays.

Nice, would love to see your progress, I'm too far deep into the SNES to switch now, but I really love the Sega version better.

Here are some other roms. Triple play needs to be used with RetroArch (Genesis Plus X) and NHL95 I think you and a few others started it a few years back. But I brought it further with what was accomplished (Updated Rosters, Seattle Kraken, etc.) Let me know what you think.

Yup doing it on all. I can make a file for each with the locations and sizes. 

I've increased the speed.

Just found out tecmobowl.org does not exist anymore. Dont know if I am f..ked up or sad. Probably both. All the info and all the work done by people are gone.

Yeah, the quickness it was shut down really sucked.  There is still information I had on a couple of threads that I will hunt down through archive.org.  I also still need a couple jstout codes he put on the site.  I never copied them, I just had shortcuts to those threads.  Really need his open WR hack coding.

After reading two posts on change.org made by the guy known as Mort in the Tecmo community I would have done the same what Knobbe did I guess. But I would let people to access the site backup or something similar. At least for couple of weeks to download files/threads. I've made just couple of posts there but I loved reading that forum. As a European loving NFL and Tecmo games (became fan of both thanks to NHL94 forum and tecmobowl.org site) I lost the place I like visiting.  

Btw, shutting down the site is discussed here (https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/other-football-games/973316-tecmobowl-org-shut-down.html) and this https://github.com/BAD-AL/TSB_Stuff was posted there.

Drunken_Honkey has made Tecmo Superbowl 4 that is 99% complete, and was posting on the site with updates. Anyone have a clue how to contact him on his progress ?
