angryjay93
The San Jose Sharks came into the Pacific Coliseum looking to start the season off on the right foot with a win over the hometown Canucks, but they paid the price in doing so. The Sharks were able to walk away with a 6-4 win, but they were crushed by numerous body checks from Canuck players. Although the Canucks outhit the Sharks 48-15, the Sharks managed to stay on their skates long enough to jump out to a 4-1 lead after Mark Recchi goal midway through the second. Vancouver managed a late rally to make it 5-4 just a bit past midway in the third, but Pierre Turgeon capped off a great night with his hat trick goal on a onetimer goal set up by Jimmy Carson while shorthanded. "Vancouver was coming on hard not only with their big hits but some timely goals, luckily though we got a break shorthanded and i was able to provide some insurance," said Turgeon in his post game interview. After tonights game it is unclear who the Sharks will play, but it is clear that the Sharks will need an extended rest to heal their aching bodies.
