Coming into their two games against the blackhawks, the Sharks were leading the league in goals per game, that is no longer the case. After a 6-3 beating and a 1-0 OT loss, the sharks have some regrouping to do.

In the first game the sharks were in a quick hole as Russ Courtnall and Derek King put home 3 goals in the first period. Pierre Turgeon though put home a big slapper past Belfour to make it 3-1 before the end of the period. In the second the Sharks were able to slam home a pair of one timer beauties past Belfour for a decisive thrid period. In the third Courtnall opened the socring up in the first minute with a nasty deke that sent Soderstrom reeling for the rest of the period. After a bothced penalty shot by Turgeon, the Sharks were never the same and the Hawks tacked on two more for a big 6-3 win.

In game 2 the sharks came out with a different game plan. contain Russ Courtnall. It worked for the entire game, but the sharks were unable to capatilize on numerous one timer opportunitites as missed shots and amazing defense kept the sharks at bay. In the first minute of overtime though Mark Recchi had a yawning far side of the net after dekeing belfour to sleep, but he missed the net. This caused a breakaway chance for Sergei Federov who was hauled down by Ray Bourque. Fedorov made Soderstrom look like a fool with a big deke, but he missed the net as well leaving the game at a scoreless tie. After multiple chances for each team, a two on none deep in the sharks zone isolated Soderstrom and Derek King slammed home the easy one timer goal to seal the deal for the Hawks.

"Im very dissapointed with our results we worked hard and gave this team everything they could handle in both games, but we just fell apart at the wrong times and didnt take our chances to be in control of either game. This was a good team we played and there is no shame in losing, but when we play like we did, especially in the second game, we need wins," said a disappointed Angryjay.

With these two losses the sharks fell into second place in their division and are now 3 points behind the blackhawks, the only saving grace of these two games was the one point earned in the OT loss.

By the way backhander, you played amazing, game 2 was another one of our classics, i hope to have more of those in the future.
