NHL96-PC

Recommended Posts

Hey, all, awesome site you have here. I am a big NHL 94 enthusiast and I play it on zbattle.net all the time using the SNES emulator ZSNES.

My favorite PC hockey game is NHL 96. I used to have WIN ME and although it had several problems, it allowed NHL 96 to install. Now I have XP Professional 32 and 64-bit on different comps. I tried install from the CD and of course got an error message. Is there anyway you know to install them? I'm a comp sci student and I've yet to get into anything in-depth so you'll forgive me if this is a simple question. I love your NHL 94 editor, though, and I look forward to using it. I'm a huge Sens fan and I hope you all look forward to them hoisting the cup this year :) Thanks for taking the time to read my e-mail.

You could partition your hard drive so u have 2 operating systems, one Win XP and one Win 98, or alternately get Dosbox to play it for you (If it can be run in Dos mode)

Why not play the conventional '96 for snes?

Were there features on the pc version that were omited from the console versions?

Because Pc is the way to go :D

To the original question on how to get it work with XP, I haven't not tried it yet myself, but I see no reason why NHL96 wouldn't work with Dosbox emulation.

Try to follow the step by step details written by Ouzo at: http://nhl94.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3025

To get updated teams from the 90's to NHL96, the graphic add-ons made by me back in the day can be downloaded here:

Sorry I know this is an old post but just fyi - I downloaded DosBox v.72 and got it to compile and install on Ubuntu 7.04. I mounted the nhl 96 iso (using kernel loop mount) and it played seamlessly. Oh it feels so good to play this again :D Now how can we get nhl 96 pc into netplay...

Yeah, DOSBox should do the trick, otherwise try "Program Compatibility Wizard." I know man, PC is the bomb for both 95 & 96. I use the Compatibility Wizard, although many people I know use DOSBox.

I had problems even installing 96 with XP.

But no worries, I may be only a few days from picking up an older computer with windows 98 on it, then I'll be able to play 93, 95, 96, 98, and 99 without having to bother with dosbox.

And 96 on pc is totally different from 96 on one of the consoles. It's basically a 3D rink with 2D players. It's great, it's like the hybrid of 95 PC and all of the years 97 and beyond.
