CamKneely
As the final seconds of the first round ticked down for the Rangers last year, captain Petr Svoboda could do nothing but shake his head. "We came so close. So close. This is going to haunt me." said Svoboda, as the Rangers once again lost a nailbiter. Every game of the sweep had been decided by one goal except for game three, which was decided by two. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This year the Rangers have a clean slate. Many new faces lurk around the locker room, which was once ruled by last year's Art Ross Trophy winner Mario Lemieux. The Garden faithful are frenzied by the acquisition of forward Pat LaFontaine. LaFontaine, tied for the league lead in assists during the preseason, looks forward to the pressure of playing in New York. "I can't stand playing in front of anything less than full capacity." he said. He won't have to worry about that this season, as the Rangers have announced sellouts for their first ten home games, and very few tickets remain for the ones after that. They'll be sure to go fast, unless Felix Potvin can't live up to the hype and the team ends up in the basement.
