BigIron Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Great work as always Adam, always a blast to play especially since your physics tweak update. Anyway no big deal but I just wanted to point out that Pettersson on VAN switched back to #25 again instead of his real life #40. I know this happened in a previous update so that’s why I say no biggie but just a heads up for your next future update. Keep up the awesome work my friend and take care! 1 Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted February 24 Author Report Posted February 24 @BigIron Oh, man thanks! I am going to need to code something to stop this from happening. My system keeps getting confused with all the #@&$^@&^% Pettersson's on one single team!! 1 Quote

AdamCatalyst Posted March 15 Author Report Posted March 15 OK folks. Sorry this has taken so long, life's been little a bit rough lately. I finally have a release candidate for v3.3, with all the trade deadline stuff plus updated ratings for every player. Some bug fixes included too. I'll do final QA tomorrow morning, and it all goes well, you will have it by the afternoon. I hope that you are all doing well! 1 1 Quote

AdamCatalyst Posted March 17 Author Report Posted March 17 v3.3 is up on the main page, with all the trade deadline moves. As always, please let me know if there are any errors or issues! 1 Quote
BigIron Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 Thanks for this @AdamCatalyst Going to fire this up right now. Wishing you all the best , take care! 1 Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted March 18 Author Report Posted March 18 OK, so I noticed a few issues… - CAR has Anderson as their starter with Kochetkov's picture. - CAR Anderson was rated too high by 2%, and Kochetkov was supposed to be set as the starter. - LAK Drew Doughty was accidentally rated nearly 10% too high. - NYI Sorokin was accidentally rated 1% too low (a game-breaking mistake if there was ever one), as well as a few other players. I'll put off fixing these, until a few more days have passed. If anyone spots any mistakes, please post them for me! 1 Quote
towlBwan_knalB Posted March 21 Report Posted March 21 Nice update, I just used Dallas and thrashed Washington, but they had a cold Ovie. Just wondering what you want to do about guys who are injured for the season? For the Devils Jack Hughes and Jonas Siegenthaller are done for the year. Hamilton might return in the 2nd round. I noticed Mantha is still there for the Flames even though he's been out-for-the-year for a while now. You could do an update and remove them, and then return everyone for a final-edition after The Finals. Anyone else have thoughts on this? Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted March 21 Author Report Posted March 21 (edited) Ahhh, I can speak to that. My goal is to provide a *cumulative* time-capsule of the entire season, so I focus on aggregate numbers, such as total games played for a team, proportion of ice time minutes logged for that team, etc. I start the season with only including players fit to play, but once a player is playing, I only remove them if they fall off the total minutes depth chart (14 F, 8 D, 3 G). If a player gets injured, and is forecasted to miss the rest of the season, he stays on until he falls off that depth chart. sometimes that means that they NEVER leave their roster, because no single player plays enough minutes to knock them off. There are enough players included that those that want realistic lines for the injuries right now can edit for that, but that’s not my focus. All that being said, I do make exceptions. For players very high in their teams depth chart (like Doughty and Durzi) I’ll watch when they return from injury, and as soon as it seems their injury recovery is stable, I’ll add them in, even if their total minutes are too low. I’ll also add in a late roster addition rookie, if they make an immediate impact and seem like they are an immediate regular (like I did with Matthew Knies). So I’m not inclined to change this approach, but I certainly do make mistakes. If you ever see a player that falls off the 14/8/3 ice time thresholds I set, please point it out to me! I’ll double check on Mantha, before I get this new version out. BTW, I just discovered, despite being a Leafs fan, despite usually playing with the Leafs, I left Stolarz’ photo up despite Woll surpassing him on the depth chart. There’s still more I’d love to automate to get rid of my human errors. I’d like to automate injury inclusions / exclusions, but I’ve not found a good way to formalize exceptions. Not yet at least. p.s. by creating lines for each team, I end up developing strong opinions about how teams are built. Dallas is terrifyingly good IMHO, and perennially underachieving. towlBwan_knalB Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 I had a couple of game-freeze errors: I was the Sharks at home, CPU was the Oilers. They got a delayed penalty, and scored before the whistle. Game went to the face-off and froze. No error codes. Reset, played again same teams. Second game, Oilers called for 2 penalties - I had a 5 on 3. Then I was called for 2 penalties making it 3 on 3. Once the penalty time expired, the game froze with this:IMG_5450.HEIC notice it still says power play at the bottom. Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted April 4 Author Report Posted April 4 (edited) Thanks @towlBwan_knalB! I will investigate. EDIT: Follow-up. I did take a look, and I am not seeing anything amiss with the code in that area, or with the related functions. According to AI, the problem is that the game is trying to access something at an odd memory address when initializing the "Stop4Pen" function. The AI seems to think that the original code may not be properly initializing a memory value in some circumstances. I am not sure that I know enough to fix this. Can you tell me anything else… where the penalties set to expire at the exact same time? Edited April 4 by AdamCatalyst Quote
towlBwan_knalB Posted April 5 Report Posted April 5 No the penalties didn't expire at the same time, they were within 15 seconds or so of each other so with 4 penalties, that's a lot going on with line changes and such. I re-played the matchup a bunch of times and never had another problem, it must have been a one-off that day? Anyway, thanks for taking a look! Quote
towlBwan_knalB Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 IMG_5460.HEIC Here's another for you - this time I was using Dallas vs CPU's Avs. It was 4 on 4, I got another penalty, right after the call and my guy skated to the box, It froze with the address error in the pic. The game doesn't seem to like too many penalties, regardless of teams chosen. Now I play with penalties off, and the game works fine so far. It also seems like I may be the only one with all these problems, something with the cartridge and console? Thanks! Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 Interesting, it's the exact same error. When I have time, I will take another dig on this. It is hypothetically solvable. Thanks again for reporting these so thoroughly! Quote
BRCbruce Posted April 11 Report Posted April 11 (edited) @AdamCatalyst hey I'm trying to find the Zamboni sprites to change the EA logo on it to a crown Royal logo. I see you were able to change the driver. Can't seem to find where it is, wondering if you could point me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Edited April 11 by BRCbruce Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted April 11 Author Report Posted April 11 (edited) No prob! If you are using TileM, try adding this to your Bookmarks XML. <bookmark offset="690476" columns="1" rows="95" blockwidth="1" blockheight="95" rowinterleaved="false" sizeblocktocanvas="true" mode="1D" palIndex="0" codec="LN04">
Sideboards - Zamboni 1
</bookmark> <bookmark offset="694028" columns="1" rows="14" blockwidth="1" blockheight="14" rowinterleaved="false" sizeblocktocanvas="true" mode="1D" palIndex="0" codec="LN04">
Sideboards - Zamboni 2
</bookmark> Otherwise, go to 0x0A892C and it should be within the following 2k. ProtoMaster Posted April 19 Report Posted April 19 Amazing update as always Adam! I can't wait for the playoffs to start! 😎 Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted April 19 Author Report Posted April 19 Thanks! The Play-Off version should be up later today. Quote
InnerMobius Posted April 19 Report Posted April 19 Hi, first off this project looks really cool and my friends are gonna LOVE it. The only thing is, not sure what to do to patch it. In the readme it mentions 5 base patches, one being the default. All the zips seem to be missing a "default" option in that folder with the other BPS files though? I noticed a random bin in the root but it doesn't seem any patchers I tried wanted to load that either Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted April 20 Author Report Posted April 20 Thanks for writing! No need to do anything for default options, those are already applied. The patches are only for those who don't like the default settings. I recommend just trying the BIN as-is first. Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted April 20 Author Report Posted April 20 Game on! The playoffs edition is out on the main page. I hope you enjoy. This might be the last version for the year, unless you find errors, or unless some of the unused players make an impactful return (Kane, Landeskog, etc.). Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted April 23 Author Report Posted April 23 So, I just noticed some teeny tiny roster errors on the Leafs, which is ridiculous, considering I am a die-hard Leafs fan. I'll be issuing at least one more update sooner than later. If anyone sees any oversights, please let me know! Quote

Pantz29 Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Wow, this is such awesome work and I've fired it up on my RG35XX and it looks and plays amazing! But one thing I can't figure out - how do I get out of a game in progress? When I go back to the menu, there's no option for "Quit Game". And if I exit NHL altogether and go back in, it remembers where I was - stuck in a game I'm trying to get out of! What am I missing? Thanks again for all the time you put into this. I'm old enough to remember playing NHL 94 (on SNES) back when it was new. What a gem. Quote
AdamCatalyst Posted April 28 Author Report Posted April 28 Thanks for the compliments! As for your query, I don't believe that you can exit a game in progress, unless it is a DEMO game. Otherwise the option does not show up in the menu. I've actually thought about re-instating the EXIT Button myself! I don't know the RG35XX, but it sounds like it is re-loading the ROM with your game in progress. There must be a command somewhere to re-boot the ROM, which is how I quit a game in progress. Just curious, does anyone else want an EXIT button on the menu while you are playing? Quote

Normally, I like the fact that it saves the state - just not when I'm trying to get out of a game! 😀 Quote
