Standings and players stats not working. All stats pages show everything as zero

I'm using Dosbox on my Windows 8 machine to play NHL '95. I set up a league and played a bunch of games.

Unfortunately, when I go to the Standings page for my league, all the stats are at zero.  When I go to the player stats page it says "Stats Unavailable". Weirdly, I know that the league is tracking goals somewhere because when someone scores, the scoreboard shows the current number of goals they now have, from game to game. So when I just scored with Lemieux in my last game, it showed "#66 Lemieux (21)" because it was his 21st goal of this season.

I also do know that data is being saved somewhere because my league calendar correctly shows the history of previous games and their final scores.

Does anyone have any idea why this feature is broken and how to fix this?

I don't remember having to do this back in the day. Why is this necessary now?
