June 19, 20251 yr comment_210985 Hi, I recently got an Anbernic CubeXX and it has a great Sega dpad so it's become my go-to device for playing NHL94. However, it has a square screen and the black bars are not ideal. I saw a widescreen patch. Does anyone know if there is a square screen patch? I haven't been able to find one but I'm new to ROM mods and maybe I missed it. If not, does anyone know if there is a good resource I could be pointed to to do it myself? Thanks Report
June 19, 20251 yr comment_210987 No, the only reason the "widescreen" patch is possible is because the Genesis supports 320x240 and 256x240 as resolutions. The "widescreen" patch shifts the game from using 256x240 to using 320x240. If you keep the original pixel aspect ratio, this expands the game to run at 15:9 instead of 4:3. It's close enough to 16:9 that you can just run it at 16:9 and not really notice the difference. This only works because the game originally was in 256x240, and the other resolution that it can be changed to is 320x240. Report
