Mod for NHL 98 with all players fixed and widescreen mode

Hello everyone, my name is Sergey, and I'm from Moscow, Russia.

I did a lot of work, checked the weight of each player, changed the stick grip to the correct one. Especially had to tinker with the goalkeepers. For some reason all the goalkeepers in NHL 98 were initially wrong. Also adjusted the characteristics based on the actual achievements of the players in the seasons 95/96, 96/97 and 97/98.

Some players have had their positions on the field changed.

I hope that players who played NHL 98 on the Sega Mega Drive 2 in the year the game was released will find it interesting to try the version that has been fixed.

I noticed that too about players no longer seen in the penalty box. 

Maybe somebody could look into that? 

I'll add that what I'd like to see alot more is this so called Fixed Rom be mostly as it already is but with a extra separate download with the 2 line pass rule removed? That particular issue was actually fixed by someone in a Mod  somewhere on this site. But the rest of that mod was the same otherwise and not fixed. Be even better to have this fixed version by the same guy that made it but with the 2 line pass rule removed? Could be also  in a optional separate download.

Think that's ever possible for someone to work on? I have zero idea how to make any modified Roms myself. Anyway I don't own a PC anymore and don't plan to buy one either. I play the Sega Genesis versions on Android Tablet Emulators these past many years and only play Genesis versions  because  they are much easier for me than SNES version (like for example Nhl94). Another thing that I would  like and it would be cool is if future roster update projects using mostly primarily NHL97 and NHL98 even if it requires some missing teams and for the upcoming season and for the last several past seasons,etc?

Sergey, I Thankyou and a GoodJob on you working on this Rom! I like the idea you had to fix up the NHL98 games players, rosters, corrected  handedness, etc and whatever. I'd   just like to ask yet again could you maybe ask somebody else on the site if you don't wish to figure it out yourself on how to remove that "2 line pass rule" from this same fixed rom? Its just a request. No pressure but it would be someday nice to see.

Hi Sergey, I looked at your mod, and I usually pay attention to the details of the players. For example, Al MaCinnis has a shooting power of 40, and the great Wayne Gretzky has a passing value of 40. These are small details, but they are still elite NHL players.

I can agree with the above post from Thornton97 and I think its a Good Point you brought up. 

It's a even more relevant thing to fix than just my wanted  request I made of maybe removing that 2 line pass rule in this Rom.

Initially, I used the widescreen version of patch 1.0 in my mod. I see version 1.2 in the link, and it's possible that the penalty bench bug has already been fixed. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/7502/

Я бы добавил, что мне бы очень хотелось, чтобы так называемый «исправленный» ром был в основном таким же, как сейчас, но с дополнительной отдельной загрузкой, в которой было бы удалено правило двухстрочного пропуска. проблема частности было фактически установленного кто в мод где-нибудь на этом сайте. Но рего, что Мод была та же и не зафиксировал. Можно даже бытьхотите, чтобы эта исправленная версия была написана тем же парнем, который ее создал, но с удаленным правилом прохождения в 2 строки? Может быть также доступно для отдельной загрузки.

Думаете, кто-то вообще может с этим работать? Я понятия не имею, как создавать модифицированные ROM-образы. В любом случае, у меня больше нет компьютера, и я не планирую его покупать. Последние много лет я играю в версии для Sega Genesis на эмуляторах Android для планшетов и играю только в версии для Genesis, потому что они мне гораздо проще, чем версии для SNES (например, NHL94). Ещё одна вещь, которую я бы хотел видеть, и это было бы круто, — это будущие проекты по обновлению составов, в которых в основном использовались бы NHL97 и NHL98, даже если для этого потребуется добавить несколько отсутствующих команд, а также для предстоящего сезона и нескольких предыдущих сезонов и т. д.

Yes, I know that the two-line pass rule is not liked by all players, although I personally find it useful when using the change of top fives.

I made my mod using the NOSE-1.2c-beta program, but unfortunately, I could not find a way to cancel the two-line pass rule.

Hi,in the NOSE program, in addition to the usual digital values from 0 to 99, there is a HEX 7, 8, 9 and HEX A value, which is essentially a superlative degree above 99. For example, if the aggression value is HEX A or higher, the player will be engaged in fights. Al McKines has a HEX A throwing power, which means that the game's creators suggest that he has the strongest throwing ability in the game, above 99. Similarly, I have set Wayne Gretzky's pass level to above 99. In the statistics, this is reflected as 40, but in the game it is a superlative.

Thanks Sergey for letting me know. I will then just not worry about it. You can just maybe fix up some players instead.

Sergey, I assume this Rom has been fully  completed and finalized. Just wondering if it's good enough in its current form as now, or you planning any updates? 

Im Fine with and No worries now about 2 line pass removal as you said already you tried and could not get it to work.

That wide-screen version 1.2 patch has successfully Fixed the missing players in the penalty box issue for me. I see them now during penalties with this Rom. Since surprisingly  I don't even anymore own or  have a Windows PC as I play all the NHL roms on my Android tablets only and used the program UniPatcher to install the widescreen version 1.2 patch for NHL98.
