Releasing this one early so it can get some play during the Olympics.

OG2026-A.png

This is a roster complete Beta. Title screen will see a change in the final update once the Olympics are complete.

OG2026-B.png

Just like some other things were down to the wire, with the Men's real tournament starting tomorrow, we're kind of leaning into it.

OG2026-C.png

Player ratings have been completed, although since the IOC nor the IIHF have posted roster photos of the men's teams yet, this game will have generic pictures for now.
Team ratings are even and will be modified to reflect actual performances once they have been established.

OG2026-D.png

The ice dimensions haven't changed, but livery has been updated for the new locations.

Skip to the basics:

  • 32 teams included
  • 12 Men's teams taking part in the Olympic tournament
  • Four bonus Men's teams that made it to the late qualification round for purposes of rounding out the playoff bracket
  • 10 Women's teams taking part in the Olympic tournament
  • Six bonus Women's teams that made it to the late qualification round for purposes of rounding out the playoff bracket
  • Player photos are generic for now.
  • Player ratings are calculated on recent stats, but the update will incorporate real performances or over [and under] achievers
  • Modified Weight bug fix is applied [since it wouldn't make sense that 5'7" Renata Fast would be better at hitting than 6'4" Tom Wilson]
  • Speaking of hitting, since fights are punishable by a major, a misconduct and a suspension, it made sense to leave the fighting patch out of this one
  • Also leaving this version as the Standard Definition playing screen
  • A wide screen version will come with the update
  • Helmet/stick tape patched
  • Many other graphical updates, but keeping the old-school play style.

New for 0.92:

  • Fixed some names with illegal text characters
  • Added a (M) or (W) to team names to minimize team selection confusion.

Tremendous job to get this done on time. Seems like you really had to push to get this completed in time. Thank you!

Thanks eh. Yeah maybe it was hubris to set a goal, maybe just overconfidence when I was "90% done" by the first week of January. Then suddenly a lot of people were spitefully doing things that were infringing on my time or just preventing me from completing this thing. [or maybe not spite, just completely unbeknownst to them clearly]

The plan all along was to rework the rosters once the tournaments were completed. I was just expecting the team information to be more readily available on the official websites more than a few hours in advance. Maybe I'll just say that the arena and the game had the same project manager...

Thankyou Von Ozbourne! A Nice Olympic Rom! 😀

And I will hope to also be able to Thank UltraMagnus too if he can upload and  release any Cool Roms too on here as well someday. 😀  I'm looking forward to at least his Vintage Rom series. Most particularly for  the NHL years 1970-2026.

I will next thank Kidswasted as well!

Also I Thankyou Von Ozbourne for your NHL season Roms too.

What version are you using? I noticed that after deleting the null players, I hadn't reduced the number of players that the main menu scrolls through so some teams will reference non-existent player data in the roll call.

I'd fixed this and uploaded a version 0.91 shortly after I uploaded the original. but depending on when you downloaded it, you might be using version 0.9.

If that is the case, version 0.91 has that fixed. If you already are using version 0.91, can you provide more information?

Game freezes when selecting teams

Hi, nice to see you get back to even trying any Nhl94 Rom? Try version 0.91 instead of that last recent 0.90 version.

What team would you like to play as most or  as your best? On this Rom I tend to usually be both either Team USA or Team Canada in this Rom.  But so far only tried  the Male teams of them. They have the Women's teams on this as well.

I did watch some of the Team Sweden versus Team Italy game however.

For the Rom I haven't had any freezes with this so far.

First off, love this and have been playing the crap out of it the last few days. The addition of the women’s teams are awesome (though I wish there was an easier way to differentiate than waiting for the player cards lol).

question, I applied the widescreen patch to this for my preference, the only issue is when someone gets injured, the text in the card that pops up is misaligned. Is there an easy way to fix that? It’s not a big deal at all but wanted to ask

Gotta update that title screen lol - Love the cranes and unfinished arena - it's hilarious

I have Found a first error with this Olympic Rom. It's some issue with the Edit Lines screen for the  Women's Team Canada.

Only team with this problem I have noticed so far.

Only noticed this as I tried the Women's teams for the first time. As the women's  Team USA will play Women's Team Canada today.

Must have been a inspiration to try it. So I first started with Canada as i saw a commercial for the Olympics today again too that showed Sarah Fillier and another player named Blayre Turnbull.

When selecting a player for the Womens Canadian Team the names gets garbled and messed up when scrolling.  With someone named "Kristin 0" #43 showing up multiple times and some other players garbled with multple players highlighted within a Black color!

Often results in a Illegal Instruction Error.

This probably will likely  need to be Fixed.

#43 is Kristin O' Neill.  The Error appears to have something to do with this player!

This player even scored the 1st goal in the game today. Looks like they are unusable in this Rom right now do to the error.

Hope the issue can be fixed in the next update?

Well..just saw that Canada (the Womens team) lost in Overtime to Team USA.

I Hope you can still fix the 2026 Women's Team Canada Edit Lines issue in this Rom though regardless. 😁

Yup. Accidentally had her in there as "Kristin O’Neill" instead of "Kristin O'Neill". Subtle difference in print, major difference in code. At least I didn't let any diacritics slip through.

I'll see if I can get in later tonight to fix that for the Beta.

Reluctantly listened to the game while I was at work. I knew how it was going to end as soon as they announced that the US team pulled their goalie, the momentum had already swung. I guess at least you can try to set things right in make believe.

I can't say that I'm sure how the patch is configured, but I can say that I am already in the middle of making a widescreen version along side the standard version for the post Olympics update. Some of the windows are shifted in non-standard ways, so they work in the context of my preferences, but I can't say how well they play with other patches. I do however think I might remember something about that injury pop-up being slightly off after using the original widescreen patch that was uploaded to romhacking.net though. I ended up using @AdamCatalyst's manual method in the end since it allows for more control.

I'm hoping for a good men's gold medal game that I can snag a nice shot from.
Thanks, I was hoping to find a good picture of the arena for the background...
But I figured my game wasn't completely finished either so... why not?

Quick update. Not ready to post complete roster update yet, but fixed special characters error and changed the team names to make determining men's vs women's easier.

swapped in the original post.

Awesome! I might just be an idiot though lol. I just realized my widescreen patch files (I did use AdamCatalyst's method too) are outdated lol. So its entirely possible it might be fine and I just used the wrong one LOL. Now time to play a quick US/Slovakia game before work

EDIT: looking at the version notes in the wide screen patch, can confirm I'm the idiot lol. Literally says "Fixed Injury & Shootout Overlays" 🤣

Thanks for making this! Funny been wondering if anyone would do it sometime in the near future but didn’t expect to find it when I checked the site today. Really cool. Well done. Quick question though, I’ve always wondered if it’d be possibly in the code or whatever to make puck smaller. Seems it’s even a little bigger in this release than the original rom and others work I’ve seen. I’d like to see it maybe half the size it is here. Of course this is personal preference but imagine I might not be the only one. Not sure if you can comment on this or even briefly explain how this would be done. I’d like to do this for all the rooms I have.

Much appreciation for you and the others that do this work and share it with us!

Just got my first 4 min major penalty ever in a video hockey game! This is monumental man! Just how I thought it should be. Player gets injured it should be a major penalty. Fantastic!

Except I said a "good" men's gold medal game.

Rivalry bitterness aside, [as someone who follows the Jets, it's kind of annoying that he repeatedly put in bellow average performances in the post season, but now you play lights out?] I do however have a couple images that I'm looking at. Currently in the process of converting player photos, so it's getting there.
