Not sure if this helps for a "Season Mode", but if you are interested in international tournaments and playoff modes, this is one I made a while back based on @kingraph's awesome 34-team NHL'95 mod. It's a few years old and I like to think I've made better stuff since, but it is based on the 1995 World Championships and you can play as the German team if that's an incentive.
