May 27May 27 comment_215624 Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm not a big head to head player like many of you guys, but I'll tell my story. When I was a kid, a freshman in high school, I saw NHL hockey (Sega Genesis) on display at Jafco, and I decided right then I had to have a Genesis and this game. I was immediately hooked. The next year was even better, I figured out to the best of my ability (mostly from hockey cards) which jersey numbers the guys were on each team, and played and even watched demo games and kept track of stats. The next year was even better, NHLPA 93 had the player names and you could see the fight ratings! I actually set up my own little fantasy league, watched demo games (each team played 10 games) and kept track of stats for goals, assists, and fights. I'd multitask while I did homework or whatever. Somewhere, I still think I have those notes with all the boxscores, season leaders, fight records.Maybe 10 years ago I discovered emulators, NOSE, and recreated my childhood joy of setting up my own fantasy league with NHLPA 93. Only this time, via nose, I could not only set up the lines the way I wanted, but adjust the ratings so the right guys are the ones fighting, and guys like Grant Ledyard and Gord Murphy with their unwarranted 71 fight rating I could put down at 14 where they belonged so they'd stop fighting! I again set up my own league and tracked demo games while I was multitasking with drawing or housework or whatever. Then I put the game away for a long time. Now, today, I'm brought back in as I discovered about a week ago that Chaos made a patch to bring fighting into NHL 94. So I'm all in, that's the best news I've ever heard for hockey video games! So I'm obsessed with fixing up some season disks, toying with the ratings, and I'm even toying with the code as I've discovered how to change a few things already. I have plans to create season roms from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s with accurate fighting ratings and probably some other stuff like hitting and defense. One other thing I should mention, while I'm not a programmer myself and know very little about coding, I do have a lot of experience creating dice and other statistical games mostly for sports. Many years ago I worked with a programmer and we created a hockey fight simulator program that I would use alongside hockey simulators, so for instance any time there was a fight in my APBA fantasy I would use the fight simulator to get details of the fight such as who won, how many punches were landed, how long did the fight last, and were there any knockdowns or blood. I'm excited to become a part of this community and hopefully will be able to contribute some cool roms with accurate fighting and rough stuff! Report

I feel like maybe we have crossed paths through Dropyourgloves, Fried Chicken's Hockey Fight Site, Action PC Hockey, or anything along those lines. Nice to know I'm not the only hockey fight guy around though! You might have interest in some of the stuff I'm working on, namely creating roms from different eras with accurate fight ratings, as well as trying to change the code to make fighting improvements (KO punches? More even fight matchups? Realistic fight stats, etc.) Actually, are you the guy who created the tough guys ROM? I remember having fun toying with that a decade plus ago. Report
