[SNES] Has anyone gotten the "Bonus Teams" cheat to work?

I had this game back in the day, and I definitely used that cheat for the bonus teams... I remember one of the teams was "The Bus Drivers" with a yellow school bus as their logo. I thought it was hilarious.

Fast-forward to a few years ago and I noticed there's no footage of this on YT, so I decided to record & upload footage of it myself. The only problem was, I couldn't get it to work, no matter how many times I tried. I scoured the internet and made note of the fact that there's a few different variants of the cheat out there:

Cheat mode

Wait until the credits appear. Hold Select + L + R for approximately three seconds, then press start. Press Select + L +R again. Four bonus teams and 1000 extra player points will be available.
