Goalie fights!

Featured Replies

So I’ve managed to get goalie fights to occur. When the fight occurs, the goalie quickly transforms into a normal skater for the graphics of the fight.

so I have 2 questions…would it be feasible to create the sprites/animations for a goalie fight, where he’s still got his pads on but his stick and mask hit the ice?

And second, I can see in Nose that there are several blank attributes for goalies. Could these be used as aggression and h/f (handedness/fighting) so we could make goalies like Burke, Hextall, and Billy Smith more likely to fight than more goalies?,

in 94? i did all that crap with the 92 source... you can re-enable fights after the whistle too, goalie checking, goalie penalties

im being censored by the moderators here, so it takes days/weeks for them to approve the reply

go to the rom hacking channel on the NHL94 discord, you might be able to search for the information

and yes, goalies need fighting skill otherwise they are a 1 punch KO

I have been posting there a bit, though I don't think I've asked about goalie stuff there. I tried re-enabling fights after whistles but haven't seen any, but then, my tests have been demo games, not actually playing myself. The few goalie fights I've seen, it seems the goalies take just a few punches, 3-5. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to assign fighting skill to the goalies (and aggression, which I've switched more to represent likelihood to FIGHT as opposed to non fighting penalties. So right now what I'm using uses the agg to see if they accept fights, and the H/F for how good they are at fighting. So guys like Clark Gillies theoretically can have a 100 fighting but low agg, or Warren Rychel and Steven Leach can have a low H/F but high agg

fights after the whistle in 93/94 are hard to do when enabled but it can be done, normally after goals ill see them

FIGHT AFTER WHISTLE - $103EF from 00 to 04

but yah, those 0s in the goalies will actually be used when penaltys and fighting are enabled

We've bandied about the idea for goalie sprite fight animations, yes. Chaos is kinda busy and he spent a year figuring all this out and deserves a bit of a break. It'll come back around if enough people are interested. Right now I think one of the priorities is figuring out how to get the fight and menu mods to play nice with certain roms.
