Which defensemen do you score goals with the most?

Recommended Posts

Al MacInnis has no accuracy whatsoever (maybe on paper but not in the game), powerfull shot but the pucks end up all over the place (SNES).. :)

...................... GP . G .. A .. Pts . Sh . Sh%

DET Paul Coffey ...... 26 . 12 . 30 . 42 .. 31 . 38,7%

DET Nicklas Lidström . 26 . 13 . 28 . 41 .. 31 . 41,9%

VAN Jyrki Lumme ...... 27 . 6 .. 27 . 33 .. 30 . 20,0%

QUE Steve Duchesne ... 27 . 7 .. 23 . 30 .. 28 . 25,0%

From my season.. Uhm.. MacInnis is 3rd on goals with 10 but only 13th in points (amongst defense men). So I guess he actually is pretty good considering I mainly play with Detroit (I've probably played ~25 out of the 27 with Calgary though). On a side note: Best of the AI controlled teams is Vladimir Malkhov with 2 goals and 10 assists. Heh..

Good question.

People here probably wont believe me, but I had a 30 goal game with Bourque with 5 minute periods (GENS, against computer controlled Ottawa). That will always go down as my greatest '94 achievement. Luckily, I had a good buddy there to witness it. Nobody else scored in the game besides Bourque and his slapshot was (and is) absolutely automatic.

Other than Bourque:

Housley and Coffey for dekes are unstoppable. Sick agility/speed.

Iafrate. when his slapshot is on, it's a laser top corner every time. When it's not, he's useless.

Zalapski is all around good too.

Sleeper picks:

Norm Maciver. Good agility and dekes.

Mikhail Tatarinov (Que) super heavy shot with decent accuracy.

In this game, there are quite a few defensemen I use to score goals, most notably Paul Coffey and Al McInnis.

If you noticed that they're all kind of clumped together around 70-90.. it's because line changes are off, and 3x26 = 78. Very few D outscore even the least-productive forwards.

You should have seen Doug Wilson's goal at the end of a recent game we played! I took him end-to-end, then my friend checked him over just as he was deking out Roy.. and the puck slid in just out of reach of Roy's pads with 12 seconds to go in the game! Short-handed, no less. 2-1 win for SJ. http://mcapewell.servehttp.com/nhl94/boxscore.asp?gameid=200

It'll probably show up in my next NHL94 youtube video.

Wilson is really only up there because the rest of the team is so incompetent, that I often just take him up and slapshot it.

over the last few years i have been playing seasons on nhl 94 with 84 game seasons, 10 minute periods, line changes on, and offsides on, it kinda helps slow down the game a little bit and create a somewhat more realistic experience even though scores still can get out of hand. I have a few noteworthy defenseman in some of the seasons ive played.

Dallas:

Mark Tinordi- 84 games, 29 goals, 53 assists, 82 points...8th in team scoring

Tommy Sjodin 84-13-66-79..10th in team scoring

-Everyone else was rather unspectacular, especially in goal scoring, rather enemic actually.

Pittsburgh:

Larry Murphy 84-38-77-115...7th in team scoring, only behind the top 6 forwards

Ulf Samuelsson 84-15-74-89...10th in team scoring

Mike Stanton 84-8-65-73...actually has a decent shot, just not much chance to unleash it

Kjell Samuelsson 84-11-29-40...again, not a bad shot

-Far better defensive shooters on this team and a lot more production

Anaheim:

Alexei kasatonov 84-10-25-35...a very dissapointing season, scored even fewer points than Stu Grimson

Bill Houlder 84-5-35-40...not a goal scoring threat on any level

Sean Hill 84-7-22-29...2nd leading goal scorer among defenseman

-Lack of any real scoring punch really hurt the defensive production, especially on lower lines.

Florida:

Gord Murphy 36-18-10-28...more goals than assists, extremely rare for a defenseman

Stephane Richer 36-4-7-11...lighting up the lamp, 2nd in defenseman goals

Joe Cirella 36-3-9-12...just had to put someone else on the list. :D

-Pretty pathetic here, i tend to go into a defensive shell with florida since they have no attack, Hynes and Tichy yet to score, Godynyuk only with 1 goal 36 games into season.

San Jose:

Jay More 84-16-20-36...boffo shot for rather pathetic shooting team

Sandis Ozolinsh 84-13-36-49...see Kasatonov dissapointment season

Doug Wilson 84-29-26-55...Hat trick or nothing...far more nothings

-This season was completed abotu 8 years ago, stats might go up if i did it again.

Hartford:

Zarley Zalapski 70-34-57-91...Hell, i didnt even realize he had this many goals

Adam Burt 70-14-90-104...fair goal scoring, insane assists

Eric Weinrich 70-9-51-60...rather unspectacular

Doug Houda 70-11-23-34...high goal total in spot duty

-My most recent season, just about to wrap it up in the next week or two, possibly explains inflated totals.

Other notes:

Ray Bourque has 8 goals in 10 games in a partial 10 game trial i had with with the Bruins about 6 years ago.

Have yet to get my hands on Al MacInnis, Al Iafrate, Phil Housely, or Paul Coffey among several others.

Tinordi, Wilson, and Burt are the biggest joys to use so far ive discovered, Sjodin, Kasatonov, and Wilson seem to waste the most chances.

It's definitely Bourque for me. I could see how you could put up 30 goals in a game with Bourque. Just keep winning the face offs to him and let it rip from the top of the circle.
