Evan Division Breakdown:

1. Chicago

2. St. Louis

3. Colorado

4. Vancouver

5. Dallas

6. Toronto

Overall Breakdown: Overall, this division is all about scoring goals, all of these teams have quick strike ability and plenty of scoring to spare. Chicago has the potential to be one of the most frustrating teams to play against this season due to their speed and ability to score on the rush, teams will be left in the dust all season. St. Louis and Colorado will also look to run and gun their way to a lot of wins this year and still have enough defensively to compete in games where the offense doesn’t come through. Vancouver and Dallas are big wild cards as both teams have the potential to do really well, but could also fall off the pace quickly. Toronto’s defense may be too soft for their goal scorers to keep them in the playoff hunt by mid season.

Team: Chicago

MVP: Russ Courtnall

Unsung Hero: Steve Larmer (we will all know who he is by the end of the season)

This team is tailor made for BHF with incredible speedsters such as Courtnall and Granato. Larmer isn’t much of different player from Fedorov, so Larmer is in for his biggest year in his GDL career. Derek King also provides sniping ability when called to jump over the boards. The defense should be solid when the team actually pays attention to defense, Ray Bourque and Kevin Lowe will be surprisingly good and have to be to protect the vulnerable Darren Puppa.

Good: That front line, its so fast it is ludicrous. Slapping and deke ability will keep other teams on their heels.

Bad: Bourque can wonder off into no mans land all too often, leaving lots of odd man rushes.

Ugly: Darren Puppa and odd man rushes goes together like fire and gasoline.

Team: St. Louis

Place: 2nd

MVP: Don Sweeney

Unsung Hero: Gary Roberts

This team is ideal for counterattacking, its hard hitting and fast. It has solid playmakers such as Damphousse and Eklund who will be used just as much to score as they are to feed Gary Roberts. Sweeney mans a backline that will be full of checking and aggression. This team should be able to do enough to keep pucks away from big, slow, Sean Burke.

Good: Punishing team...just punishing. Good goal scoring potential to boot.

Bad: Miss a check or two and then what?

Ugly: Sean Burke, that's what.

Team: Colorado

MVP: Mike Gartner

Unsung Hero: Kirk Mclean

After an unsuccessful bid to repeat as champion, pill is back looking to reclaim what was his. With streaky Mike Gartner supported by a crafty Makarov and more consistent Sundin, the lamp will be lit in Colorado without doubt. Murphy and Tinordi provide top notch offensive ability, but their lack of speed and ability to take punishment could cause some problems in their end zone. Mclean on most teams is a question mark, but pill seems to get the most out of his goalies.

Good: This team will be able to score at all positions and in different ways.

Bad: Despite his good goaltending, this could be the worst division to have a guy like Mclean in.

Ugly: The speed on that back line is just not made to stop high flying attacks on a rush.

Team: Vancouver

MVP: Pavel Bure

Unsung Hero: Trevor Linden

Pavel Bure is back to ravage the league once again, he and Brind’amour carried the team into the playoffs in his first full season. What reason is there to believe that Bure can’t do it again? There is little reason to believe that Bure wont do more damage and Linden and Nieuwendyk should provide some more support on offense. Coffey provides speed to the back line, while Tatarionov will hopefully bring the stay at home element. A team with a lot of upside.

Good: Bure, 3rd in league scoring last season.

Bad: If Nieuwendyk and Linden fail to produce, it becomes a one man show.

Ugly: Coffey is fast...almost too fast, and Tatarionov might be a failed experiment as a stay at home type against the offensive firepower in this division.

Team: Dallas

MVP: Patrick Roy

Unsung Hero: Robert Reichel

Here is the one exception to the rule of a team looking to run it up. Dallas was built with the motto of, a good defense creates a good offense. This team will be looking to create turnovers or allow Roy to make key saves and spring the offensive attack to fast wingers such as Dinneen, Reichel, and Juneau.

Good: The defense is looking solid with Roy and Desjardins, Ellet can play very well if used correctly.

Bad: Lacking a true sniper could hurt.

Ugly: Even the best defenses cant hold back the best offenses on some nights, could be a bit overwhelmed in shootouts.

Team: Toronto

Place: 6th

MVP: Petr Klima

Unsung Hero: Pat LaFontaine

There is one legitimate scoring option here, Klima. If only Klima shows up, this team will have a hard time being consistent. When Lafontaine and even Gagner show up, this team can run and gun, but how many performances like that can be expected? Hrudey will no doubt be digging a lot of pucks out of the net this season, even if Wesley and Lumme play well.

Good: Klima is a gamebreaker, he will keep this team in a lot of games.

Bad: A real lack of scoring ability on the wings, they need to get close...real close.

Ugly: This division will eat Lumme and Wesley alive if they slip up at all.

Elephant Man Ugly: Kelly "slumpbuster" Hrudey...nuff said.

hehe, no, I think the motto was, "i couldn't score last year, so if i let in even fewer goals this year, i could possibly make the playoffs"
