SSiG
NEWARK, NJ --- Just when you thought the Devils could not get any worse... They did. Islanders 24, Devils 3. That's all that needs to be said. Tomas Sandstrom with a GDL Single Game record 18 goals. The only bright spot in this game was the fact that the Devils did not quit in this one. Down by so much, they still kept trying to make their gameplan of distributing the puck around and looking for a good shot work, and their perseverance was rewarded with a Fedorov goal after passes from Bellows and Zalapski. Cam Neely had 2 goals early, but even he was left speechless after this one. "It's just shocking" Neely said after the game. "Nothing we did worked. I'm amazed that Tomas didn't put 20 or 30 up on us" Devils coach Tom Delgado remarked. "Well, at least it can't get any worse" Delgado added before sneaking to his car to avoid the rioting fans, who earlier were rioting because of a historic win. Now they're rioting because of a loss of epic proportions.
