The Good, The Bad, And The Flaky

Something has struck a nerve with me, it may struck a pose with some of the more effeminate members too - and being all lathered under the influence of that potent elixir, truth, and a family size bag of sour patch kids, makes it that much harder to conceal.

What might that be? It might be nerve damage, but it's not. It's the defacing of the facade that protects this great garrison of vegetate'n. And who are these reverse philanthropists? They are the whole grain flakes that sabotage the integrity of this, and other leagues, by not honoring their commitment to play the games they have signed up for by pulling a Bobby Petrino and then magically (by magically I mean cowardly) reappearing in door number 2 (by door number 2 I mean another league) in the not-too distant future.

In this virtual world of the internet where everyone drives a Ferrari is well endowed and super rich, it's no surprise that some people aren't able to fulfill these commitments, some even deal the, "I have obligations" card. Yeah, it's all good for these members who can just reemerge in another league when it's most convenient. But it's not-so-all-good, in fact all bad.

Like Sir Fig Newton said, "A cookie is just a cookie, but a Newton is fruit and cake." and "What comes up, must come down." Well it must come down - HARD for these offenders.

So what is the plan of action? Do we simply excommunicate these members? Sounds like a great idea! But it's just not practical. We could have hazing for new members to prevent this type of conduct in the future, but this doesn't address the immediate issue, and some members with a high pain threshold and a low propensity for playing their games could sneak in. An easy way to keep a thumb on these derelicts would be to create a black list. I know it sounds harsh, just think of it as ear tagging, in the same way that the Wildlife Society does.

Now, I'm not one for naming names, but we need to get the ball and chain rolling. To protect the innocent I will encrypt the first members name to be black listed.

In review, the proposal unfolds as following:

Firstly: Humanely blacklist those who violate league ordinances by going absent with out league from entering other leagues with their names unblemished.

Secondly: see fithly

Thirdly: can you dig?

Fourthly: up onely

Fithly: see Fourthly

I say give this 'blacklist' a league of their own. If they're able to complete their games in that league, then they'd be welcome back into the serious leagues (i.e. leagues with owners who honor their commitments). This 'league' would act as a re-habilitation Black List league. Open for all the serious coaches to check periodically and monitor the slackers rehabilitation.

I agree it does get tiring. The only other solution is to implement league dues. I know it's more fun without money involved, but I know from fantasy experience, the free leagues participation pales in comparison to the fee leagues.

Great idea, clockwise! I agree wholeheartedly. It pisses me off that there are people who do not honor their committments! If I were in any leagues, I would approach them with the utmost enthusiasm and committment. Why? (1) To keep my integrity intact; (2) because I'm an avid NHLPA '93 and NHL '94 gamer.

My only reason for not yet having joined any leagues is due to the fact that I have a dial-up connection. I will not join until I make the switch to high-speed. It is my hope that douchebags who commit the foul acts you have spoken of do not ruin the chances of honest gamers -- such as myself -- getting into these leagues in the future.

The whole point of this isn't to quarantine coaches into a flunky type of league. As I said previously; It's to (try and) prevent coaches who commit acts of infidelity by quiting and reappearing when it's most convenient for them.

Case in point: SSIG resigned in three leagues; the GDL, Michaels OSL, and Halifax's Juiced League..While they were all in progress.

Being the impartial pillar of equality that I am, it's only right his name is inscribed here, regardless of his prior reputation.

Hope I'm not coming off all "holier than thou". This is meant to keep this kind of stuff from metastasizing. It may seem innocuous to some but it weakens the integrity of the leagues, and we will be seeing some of the repercussions soon if not already.

EDIT:

If guys no longer wish to play because it's not fun losing, or too time consuming thats fine. Like the Isley Bros say: It's your thing, do what you want to do..But please finish your games out of respect before you take off.
