Clockwise, you crack me up. That's one of the best posts ever.

This is a dream list. I know some of these things won't happen.
Better pass reception (fewer passes bouncing right off your stick)
Season mode
Line changes without dumping the puck in
No skating backwards
-
Oh, and by "On", I mean "On except Off-sides". Off-sides kills me, might as well watch a demo game than play with that on.
Same here. The computer just doesn't have the AI to deal with offsides. They always end up going in ahead of you & you spend half the game circling around in the neutral zone.
It's a shame too, because I wouldn't mind using offsides to add that extra element to the game, if only the computer could deal with it.

The first team I played as was Pitt with the original NHL. Mario Lemieux absolutely rocked in that game.

I don't like the line changes. Everyone gets too slow and tired. If it were up to me I be stuck on one player the whole game.
I can't wait to get the modulator going. Maybe I'll make the games two on five...
1994!
I always use auto line changes. Players don't fatigue with auto line changes & you get to use more players.

Wow, guess I'm a lightweight. I have over 700 solo wins with recordkeeping on my gen cartrige + nearly 100 wins with teammates (all played over 10 years ago). Add in emulator games & early games I played without records & I'm probably around 900.
-
I always play with penalties on as a handicap.
-
Jeremy Roenick
But seriously, it's hard to name a worst player because if they're really bad they get no ice time, so I never play as them.
-
Red,
I agree with your posts and opinions often. Do you ever play on the emulator? Could be fun to play as teammates.
-Evan
Aww shucks.
I have the game on emulator, but have never played online over an internet connection. I would love to play some games though, if you'd be willing to put up with an online gaming noob. How would we set up a game? You could PM me here or hit me up on MSN messenger. I'm usually available evenings after 8 eastern time.

Never played Hat Trick. I'll have to check it out.

2-on-2 open ice challenge.. Midway.. WHAT A GAME LOVE IT
Holy crap. I thought that game sounded familiar. THAT is the game I was talking about, NOT Hit the Ice.
Whoops.

vote #2 for Hit The Ice. It's by no means a classic, but it's fun to pick up & play.

Oh my god, I'm going to have a seizure

I think there's a difference between them & I think it mainly lies in the controller being used. I happen to be used to the console controller, so I prefer to play it on a console.

Sounds like a hard hack to make. Graphics & name data are easy to manipulate. In-game mechanics and logic are harder to change.
-
I think what you're describing is a fanned shot. There is a whiffing sound the player can't uncork the shot. I don't know that it's a glitch, probably just simulating human error, like a shot that goes wide.

A bit OT (again) but saterday I will sell my Sega with NHL 94.
WITH PAIN IN MY HEART
I will get a good price for it though:
http://www.speurders.nl/computershardware/...10genesis.18.99
If you don't want to sell the Genesis or NHL94, just sell the other games. These days the Genesis & 94 combined probably would sell for about $20. Just take off the genesis & 94 expect to get $20 less, unless you are really desperate for the extra $20.

No one to play tonight so I thought I'd play the computer.
CHI vs ANA
183 dB after one period of play
It was 20 minute periods. I don't know if these are records are not but this is after one period. It got pretty boring and I dont have the stamina to finish the game. I saved it so I'll finish it another time.
:bows: 183 decibles
Did you know that an actual 180 decibel sound will kill you by making your lungs hemorrhage?

the reason EA totally fudged up the games is because imagine ur boss is paying u 60000 a year and u have to show them ur doing someting and u produce the same game with different menus ....its just not gonna fly they had to do something or they would be bored or fired and after 95 it was downhill.............nhl 95 was bad but at least it was playable .andfun vs people .....96 was a complete s**t box and EA should apoligize 10 years later ..........im still bitter i bought that game and thats why i will never purshase another ea game again ...........they had there run with games like road rash 2 classic and desert chopper smothing but just like grundge diied in early 90's so did ea ......tey almost single handedly killed 2d gamng for me but their 3d hockey games brought me back !! lol .......on a side note.i am still the greatest player in North america today my skillz and ability are far beyond those of regular humans and I have my phycho cousin to thank for that LOL
EA does have their moments. They have their hand in some good games, like Burnout & the Madden series (which I heard they screwed up this year), but some of their games are just brutal to play. MVP is alright, but NHL, FIFA & NBA Live are just awful now. Playing any of those games is as much fun as an abortion.
-
Getting back on topic, it seems EA sports in general went downhill after 94 or 95. Both NBA & FIFA peaked at 94-95. I just bought FIFA 97 thinking "It'll be like FIFA 95 with create-a-player & indoor mode!" It is one of the worst games I have ever played on ANY system. I couldn't believe it was actually made by a legitimate developer, let alone EA.
Some of the changes EA made to their games after 94-95 are completely inexplicable. It's like they intentionally made the games worse. I think NHL may have suffered this curse the lease. At least their post 95 games are playable, unlike NBA, FIFA & Madden (until you get to ps2/xbox madden).

I have a scored a couple of goals with 0:00 left (Genesis version), but it has never frozen on me. Admittedly it is a very rare thing for me to do though.
-
best i ever had was 64, in 10 minute periods on the gens one. So i guess that was on pace for the century mark. Of course that was in my prime, i could never pull it off now. You should make a whole forum section for posting records. And on the record page maybe a page dedicated to just the online leauge records, those would be far more impressive to hold then just playing the computer.
A records area for the boards may be a good idea if it's going to be too difficult for the mods to keep the records page up to date. I'm don't want to complain, but the records page has fallen so far behind that this seems like the best option. I also think it would foster more individual player records to be posted, which would be fun.

If you ever get a chance to play Clockwise aka JesusPlaysNHL94, you'll notice he has the most unique style of play. A solid player with TONS of passing and nice one timer setups.
Its not uncommon for him to have 90+ pass attempts in a game!
Sounds interesting. It certainly is a fun style to watch, but I wonder how effective it can be. If there is one drawback to 94, it's that passing percentages are too low. Often your teammates are completely incompetant at receiving passes.

Wait a minute!!!
Is there a ROM out there that has this ability (trading players etc) ??
Sound like a pretty cool deal.
I think by "trading players" he means manually switching names & attributes with NOSE or otherwise.

But there is no fighting in 94. Won't you have to add fighting first?
