  1. I'll give it a shot.

I have, after calling upon a reign of goals, convincingly defeat bobofeez. I predicted that Tickenest and myself would be the last men standing. My prediction was correct! I suggest that everyone in the league root for either myself or Tickenest.

I do not care for poor sportsmanship in the face of defeat. Anybody who displays said poor sportsmanship is quite immature! It is disrespectful and sickening. I know losing is hard, but if you don't lose badly you'll never learn anything and your skills will become stagnant and predictable.

Anyway, I wish Tickenest the best of luck in out upcoming battle. He will need it to best me in even a single contest! Gosh, I sure play well! So far I have recorded four playoff shutouts. It will be a record that shall stand for quite some time. I also managed 16 goals in one game, which is a Hall of Fame standard for the young guns in the league to aspire.

The new 06 rom is very fun to play. It features a lot of improvements. This site is also very good! Wboy, Mack, swos, and mahavishnu, I have a lot of faith in you guys! I am quite positive that soon a major breakthrough (possibly fighting or a season mode?) will be made by all of you that will be revolutionary. I'd also like to thank Evan for a great job on this site and for keeping all players in check.

Here's an idea of my very own: An NHL94.com Hall of Fame section, most likely featuring myself of course! Also, some guys who reach my lofty standards. Goodbye for now, citizens. Let's go, Stars! Let's go!

Excellent. Thanks for the translation. :D

  2. Welll finally bobfeez has been destroyed pummled by reign of goals and glory by urs truly. Leaving 1 man (tick) in the final which i predicted at the begining of playoffs has come to fruistion ....u all need to make ur alliaces now cause ur either w/me or against me (george bush)......bringing me o my next topic sore losers i dont care if u lose 16-5 at least have to class and decently like cpt plug did to say GG .......dont be a little b***h in silence even if u dont mean it say GG ........dont start the game without letting the other person have chance to chng lines really immature and gay .........just seen a lack of respect lately asnd making me sick .......i know its hard to get killed but if dont lose badly ull never get better take the lessons learned from losing and fix the issue insead sobing like a whore ....anyways i regress and wish Tick the best of luck hell need it to even win a game in this best of 7 kgman is at top of his game and destroying all competors ...............(damn im good) ..............4 shutouts so far in playoffs and couting definitly a record that will never be matched and 16 goals hall of fame standards for all u newbies to aspire to ......moving on the new 06 is great alot of improvemnts and quite a site keep up good work wboy mack swos and mahav im sure were gonna have a major breakthough soon ie fighting or season that revlutioize the game as we know it .....Evan also great job on the site and keeping everyone in chk .....just an ida whatbout an nhl94.com hall of fam section featuring ur truly and those lucky enough to mentioned in same breath as kgman LOL IM OUT !!! GO STARS GO

Congrats Kgman. Good luck to both Tick and Kgman.

Now can someone interpret this for me please?

  3. I like to keep the game moving. Unneeded stoppages are just a drag. Rarely do I have my goalies freeze the puck. And I never stand in front of the goalie as he is trying to pass the puck. To keep things moving I skate away.

What are people’s thoughts out there? Is it acceptable to stand in face of your opponent’s goalie as he tries to move the puck up ice?

I'm talking a game with no line changes. I understand with line changes you might need to force a break to change your lines.

I posted this message shortly after I joined the online scene. How times have changed. Playing online, you quickly learn it's a different world when compared to playin your buddies in your living room having some beers. Your online opponent simply can't hear you when you yell "you cheap ass b***h!"

With online play you have to adapt to be competitive. And when in Rome, make like the Romans. Fast forward to today and I can say now that I won't hesitate to park in front of your goalie playin online. But you better believe I'm gonna call you a b***h if you do it im my living room! :)

  4. tick youll be lucky to get 2 wins over me if I ever see u in the finals ..........ur loss will be felt as far as finalnd and think Assoiciated press might cover over the world cup final .........as for the series jon casey with 2 shut outs is making a case for MVP but modano is still leading in thta category .............WPG was tough opponent......... bunch goons teemu didnt get knocked out as promised maybe coause he spent half series in the penalty box hiding from viscoios Mark TInordi .........LETS GO NORTH STARTS oppps

Evan - Can we implement a spell / grammer check to the message board please!?

JK KGman. I do have a hell of time trying to understand what the heck your sayin.'

  5. Special apologies to the members of my NHL94.net league. I know you guys hate me now and yeah its my fault it didnt work out. I shouldve updated you guys more but I learned my lesson: I wont start any more leagues because I cant handle it time wise. I will however be back next season here (if Evan has me), probably under an assumed name due to my reputation being ruined, lol.

Hate? I don’t know about the others, but no hate here. I ain't gonna hate over a video game. But I gotta admit, for me (and I’m sure others), it’s just plain insulting to not get a response after repeated attempt after attempt to contact you.

Smoz stepped up to automate things. The groundwork for the league was already set. All you had to do was post a simple message stating you’ve got other $hit going on and the league would have survived. Would have taken 2 minutes of your time.

PS: no sense in changing your name. Your cheezy ass pass goal gives you away in seconds

  6. Actually I hate golf but anyways....

Went down to game 6. Even losing these were some fun games. Lotta respect for HFD. Great skills and seems like a cool dude.

Summer's in full swing in Chicago. I may not be golfing, but I'm definately gonna lay off of the computer while the weather is nice.

    See ya next season!

  7. I was using "back hand floater" before I joined this forum - was very nice to see the username!

It's funny. I've had the AIM name backhandfloater since the introduction of aol instant messenger in the 90s. Everytime I give someone my screen name they ask "What is backhandfloater?" Fast Forward 10 years later I find a slew of people that I don't have to explain it's meaning!

BTW: Ken, within the few games we've played, I've witnessed your backhand floats. Very impressive!

  8. They had to cut the framerate by %50 percent just to make the game playable on the snes because of hardware issues.

The frame rate really is the deal breaker for me (and probably many of the gens camp) favoring the Genesis. The inconsistent and low frame rate of the snes version is just an eye strain compared to the silky smooth 60 frames per second of the Genesis. The difference in Frame rate is undeniable. I nearly had a seizure the 1st time I played the snes version. :money:

Look at modern gaming. It's all about frame rate. Benchmarks are driven by frames per second. People upgrade their hardware just to get a smooth frame rate in their games. Same applies to NHL94.

  9. The New York Islanders have finished the regular season with a final record of 24-16-0. The Islanders have definately had their ups and downs. I've won some and also got my ass kicked. With the 2nd lowest rated goalie (2nd only to the Ducks) in the league, piss poor defense, I knew it was going to be an uphill battle. At the end of it all, I must say it definitely was a fun one.

    Some of the Highlights:

    - Broke the 10 goal barrier a league high 6 times.

    - 7 Blowout Victories (1 Blow out loss. Thanks Tick)

    - League high of 14 Goals in a game

    - 2 Shut outs

There’s definitely some skill out there and I enjoyed playing all of you. I’ve met some cool people along the way and I hope the leagues and community continue to grow. Thanks to Evan, and all that contributed to making this league a big success. Good luck to all in the playoffs!

  10. Can we have a third option in the poll, C: Drafts are really f**king boring?

What is it that you don't like about it? Is it the actual process of drafting? Or the whole concept of custom rosters?

Cuz damn, you woulda made a great addition to the .net league. It's probably unlikely, but would love to have you next season.

  11. I definately think its more fun. But, I'm not so sure that I would recommend this for the NHL94online.com league. The reason is that the league is simply too large.

It would take a lot of effort to coordinate a 24 team draft. NHL94.net held an 8 team draft. It lasted for over 2 hours. Imagine if we doubled the amount of coaches.

Another idea is a draft sheet. The draft sheet would be submitted before the draft and the commisioner would just go through the lists. I've done this once in a league of Chicago area players / friends and it worked well.

Once the initial leg work is done, it's great. In fact it f@#$ing rocks.

  12. Great Post Jesus. Always well thought out and entertaining.

They are two very different games and always will be.

Why don't we just leave it at that?

Just look at these plays again if you have to: http://youtube.com/watch?v=w3YVF4KxBXQ&search=nhl%2094 (shameless plug). Prove me wrong! Genesis guys start recording your goals. I want results. NHL 94 highlight menagerie extravaganza and NHL94 highlights 2003 Olliz remix (NHL 94), I'm sorry, it just didn't do it for me. Not to be mean, or to show off for that matter. It is simply not NHL94 to me. OK for what they are, but no 94.

This is kind of off topic but I am dying to know...

Ok, I saw the plays. Pretty, yes. Effective against a human opponent? I'd like to see. Have you played online yet?

The video is against the computer. No disrespect but we all know how intelligent the computer is on both systems.

  13. Never learned them, don't feel I need them.

No offense Tick, but I think you are the master of the "skate-across" goal. One of the 1st moves I learned from someone playing online was from you.

    1. Start the skate-across

    2. The opponent, 9 times out of 10, takes goalie control and moves over to the far side

    3. Simply flip it short side.

You've scored a ton like that on me and another online player. We even refer to it as "The Tick Goal."

Cheap or not Cheap? I don't know. I really don't use that goal much, but I definately think twice when taking goalie control in that situation now.

  14. All valid points, but as most would agree you are in the weaker of the 2 conferences. Plus not everyone agrees with running up the score on weaker opponents.

    About running up the scores...

Playing as one of the weakest defensive teams out there (NYI - cant hit, starting goalie is a 43), you better believe I'm gonna run that score up if I can.

I'm all about it. You know why? You guys are too damn good. All of ya! Im sure you've all had games where you "THINK" you have a comfortable lead. Next thing you know you lose in OT. Gotta respect everyone's game. Regardless of who they are, or what team they are.

  15. I agree in principle that letting the best players pick the best/their favored teams creates a system where the best players will always come out on top. question is, is that a bad thing?

Definately a bad thing. A good player is still competitive with a bad team. (look at SJ, TB, HFD, NYI) A bad player, with a bad team, is just plain F@#ed.

I'm down for whatever can level the playing field.

  16. The Chicago Blackhawks

Reason # 1 - I live in the greatest city on the Planet - Chicago.

Reason # 2 - Jeremey Roenick - Quite simply the best player in the game. Leaps and bounds above anyone else and really fun to play with.

Reason # 3 - Eddie Belfour - Shut outs are always fun.

Chicago (along with MTL) eventually became banned from use among my friends in head to head competition due to the super goalies. Fast forward to today, Chicago is the last team I would pick.
