  1. No reason to feel bad, you and the rest of B were very patient and I appreciate the many chances to get my games in. In the end, I just didn't have the time to fully commit and I'm glad to give somebody with more dedication a shot.

Best of luck to Sicarius, Quebec has a pretty good record and I hope you can take them all the way to the final and fulfill my dream of seeing the 94 version of Sundin raise the cup.

Cheers, good luck to all of B in the rest of the season and playoffs.

  2. Got caught up a bit, me and Smoz got our series in (he still has my number, took it 3 games to 2.)

Also contacted Pearate and should be knocking off my other divisional series in the next day or two to finally get me caught up with the rest of the league.

  3. I have two midterms to write today but will be home after 8. Really don't want to get replaced here, I've been trying to catch some of the other coaches on AIM, but so far luck and my hectic schedule haven't been working in my favor. Really appreciate the patience, if I fail to get some games in a replacement is just and best of luck to whoever picks up where I left off.

Smoz, I'll be looking for you tonight, let's knock off our series and get caught up, old buddy.

  4. Alright dude. Just don't tire yourself out.

No worries, I have my priorities straight. On that note, my hangover has waged a war against my body, and the casualties are mounting. I am going to return to the couch from which I came, just wanted to let you guys know that there won't be an update this weekend.

  5. God damn does it feel good to be done uni for the summer. Sign-ups are closed, the ROM is almost done and here are the pools/schedule:

    Pool A

    Houli

    TubaHero

    HABS

    Statto

    Nationals

    Pool B

    Halifax

    Mav

    Freydey

    Smozoma

    RedWingDevil

    Qualification Round

Every team plays one game against all other teams in its pool.

    Elimination Round

Top 4 teams from each pool advance, 5th place teams are eliminated.

Quarter-finals are seeded based on Pool standings, so #1 in Pool A plays #4 in Pool B, #2 in Pool A plays #3 in Pool A; same goes for Pool B. Winners advance to semi-finals.

In semi-finals the 4 teams are reseeded based on their win/loss records, then play #1 VS 4, #2 vs 3. Winners advance to the Championship Game.

Home team is always the highest seed.

Standings for all rounds are determined by (in order):

    1. Points

    2. Wins

    3. Goals For

    4. Highest +/-

I'll hopefully get the qualification round done by tonight.

  6. as for the league... it looks like it's done... however I suggest you start a simulation draft league:)

I want to do this, but I want to set up a nice stats system like blitz/GDL, which I don't know how to do just yet.

  7. Things got so hectic that this league completely skipped my mind, apologies.

Anyways, the final standings are (Tiebreakers were broken by GP, then Wins, then Goals For):

    TOR (Smozoma)

    VAN (logantessier@gmail.com)

    PIT (Vocally Caged)

    WPG (chris1knights@hotmail.com)

    BOS (donnybrook94)

    EDM (Iceguy94)

    PHI (mcarthurbsu33)

    MTL (maverickz161@hotmail.com)

Which means the playoff matchups are:

    TOR (Smozoma) vs MTL (maverickz161@hotmail.com)

    VAN (logantessier@gmail.com) vs PHI (mcarthurbsu33)

PIT (Vocally Caged) vs EDM (Iceguy94)

    WPG (chris1knights@hotmail.com) vs BOS (donnybrook94)

Here's the issue...i'm not too sure how many of you guys are still kicking around/interested in finishing up. So i'll put this topic up and see if you guys reply.

As for a second season...I enjoyed the slower gameplay, but the demand for this kind of league simply isn't there. I'll ask Evan to move this to inactive after we either finish the playoffs or decide to call it done.

  8. I've stated this before but didn't make it very clear: You can change your lines at any time between "rounds". Since the Qualification round is done in one big chunk, you can't really change your lines during the round, but during the Elimination round when less gets simulated at a time you do get a chance to juggle lines. Just make a post in the topic, and I make sure I check it before I start the simulations.

  9. Smozoma: Agreed about what makes it fun, that's why I submit a team. As for the write-ups, i'll keep that in mind and start having both a video and a writeup. The commentary is what I wanted for the video because it makes it much more enjoyable, unfortunately I wasn't able to make that happen this time around.

As for the audio lag, that would be much appreciated if you could. I noticed that even the video from the avi-dump from GENS had audio lag, and im not sure how to fix it.

That's a good idea, i'll start uploading the stats in excel form as well as simply pictures. I'll get around to putting up the excel sheets for the first 2 tournaments too.

  10. I enjoy running these things for you guys, and hopefully you've enjoyed them. However, there's always room for improvement, so I'd like to hear what you guys have to say about how these are run, how stats are presented, etc. etc.

I'll be sure to come back an address any suggestions/criticisms you guys have, and to get the big one out of the way now:

As much as i'd LOVE to have a fully automated stats system so that you guys could go through stats yourself and sort the lists, right now I don't have the time or technical know how to do this. For now I just use several Excel sheets to keep track of everything, which is good enough for me, but not a very in-depth system. This summer, if time permits, i'll be looking to improving it.

  11. Championship Game Video - Part 1 Part 2

Apologies about the audio, a few minutes into the video it started to lag behind, so while it's mostly corrected the audio is off in a few spots (noticeably the beginning)

    Tournament Recap

Bob Beers Memorial Cup Champion - Snyder

Reverse Tony Twist Award - Steve Yzerman (Statto)

Reverse Tony Twist Award was a tough pick, but I had to give it to the leading Goal Scorer, whose 14 goals made up over 50% of his teams goals. Despite being the only player on his team to find the back of the net in the championship game, Yzerman's team couldn't stop the balanced attack of Snyder's Federov, Gretzky and Lemieux.

    New Records

-RedWingDevil passed TubaHero and now holds the career record for Goals For with 40.

-Statto now holds the career record for Win Percentage with .857.

-Statto set the new Tournament record for Goals For with 26.

-Statto's Steve Yzerman tied the Tournament record for Goals with 14.

-Smozoma's Eric Lindros set the new Tournament record for Assists with 11.

-Logan's Brett Hull set the new Tournament record for Points with 18

Although not really posted anywhere, Statto did tie the record for longest win streak with 6 consecutive wins, tying the mark set by TubaHero. Also, Statto's 5-0 win over TubaHero was the most lopsided win in the Elimination Round in all tournaments.

Home Ice Advantage? There have been 78 total games in all Tournaments now, and the Home Team has won 42 Times (53.8%). Looks like, with everything equalized in EARE, there's no significant advantage to having home ice.

In closing, another Tournament that I enjoyed putting together and hopefully you guys enjoyed it as well. Tournament III signups are already open, but that will not be starting until my finals for school finish up.

  12. I'm with Halifax, there's no place for that kind of behavior, and let's not forget the trouble he causes league commissioners with his minimum of 100 trades.

On the other hand, if it's been a full year, maybe another chance is deserved. Worst that happens is he screws up, in which case institute another 1 year ban.

  13. School is hectic and demanding at the moment, so I can't see this Tournament starting anytime within the next 3 weeks, but nonetheless I'm opening the signups now. For those of your wondering, the Championship Game for Tournament II has been simulated/recorded, and Shaftman is in the process of doing commentary. As soon as possible (Hopefully tommorow) I will have the video up.

  14. Quarter/Semi-Final Blurbs

    Records

In Logan's 5-3 Semi-Final loss, Brett Hull notched his 18th point, a new single-tournament record.

In Smozoma's 6-4 Quarter-Final loss, Eric Lindros notched his 11th assists, a new single-tournament record.

Statto and Beavers both broke the single-tournament goal record for coaches, with 25 a piece (Statto still has the championship game to take the record further)

If Statto wins the championship game by 2 or more, he will set a new single-tournament goal differencial record.

Statto's Yzerman is one goal away from tying the single-tournament goals record (14)

Statto enters the championship game with a 6-game winning streak, tying the record set by TubaHero in Tournament I. A win would set a new record.

    Championship Game V. 2

This time around, I want the game video to be done right, and hopefully there's no hitches in recording it. As promised, shaftman will be doing commentary to spice the game up a bit. As before, a new topic will be made for the championship game, containing the videos and expanded boxscore.

  15. Sorry for the delay, things got pretty hectic around here. Also, the playoff tree in the Elimination 'C' recap had two errors: TubaHero adanced, NOT Halifax; TubaHero and Shaftman are mixed up in the mini-boxscore. Apologies for any confusion this caused.

    Quarter-Finals

    TubaHero (9) AT Statto (1)

The defending champ takes on the #1 seed, and the importance of good goaltending is shown. Statto's Roy squares off agaisnt TubaHero's Soderstrom, and the puck is dropped. The 1st period is basically dominated by TubaHero, who fired 12 shots agaisnt Roy but couldn't find a hole, and despite Statto's lackluster offence, Yzerman and Lemieux get some lucky bounces and find the back of the net to make it 2-0 Statto. TubaHero keeps coming in the 2nd, his team making nice passes in the offensive zone, but even with another 11 shots, Roy continues to stand tall and Gilmour makes it 3-0 Statto off a nice slapshot as the period ends. Down 3-0 in the third, the defending champ has to come up with something big, but unfortunately Statto's offense finally gets clicking, with Gilmour and Yzerman scoring 30 seconds apart to make it 5-0. Statto's play is just too much for TubaHero in the 3rd (TubaHero was outshot 16-8 in the final period), and the defending champ heads home empty handed as Statto's Patrick Roy earns his first shutout of the tournament with 31 saves.

    FINAL SCORE: 5-0 Statto

    TubaHero (9) AT Statto (1)

    Smozoma (5) AT Beavers (4)

Only being 1 seed apart should make for an exciting game. After going back and forth for much of the 1st, 7 minutes into the first Beaver's Modano puts a slapper on net, and Mogilny bangs in the rebound to make it 1-0 Beavers. However, just a minute later Smozoma's Selanne finds Lemieux in the slot for a quick one-timer, tying it up at 1-1. The game enters the 2nd still tied, but off the opening faceoff Beaver's Roenick streaks in, drops a pass back to Lemieux, and in a flash the puck is in the net, 2-1 Beavers. 4 minutes later, Smozoma's Selanne finds Lemieux again for a one-timer, one which Mario never misses; the game is tied at 2-2. Exactly one minute later, Smozoma's Lindros gets free, and skates in on Hextall, dekes to his backhand and...holds on to the puck as Hextall comes way over to try and make the save, but Lindros backhands a pass to Lemieux in the slot, who slams home another one-timer for a hat-trick, 3-2 Smozoma. The game enters the 3rd, and again just 30 seconds in, Beaver's Roenick picks up a loose puck to the right of Fuhr, and puts a weak backhander on net. However, what should have been an easy save turns into an ugly goal when Fuhr slips, tries to stack the pads and misses; the game is tied 3-3 with almost a full period to go. 3 minutes later, Beaver's Roenick picks up the puck and dances into the slot, and, while surrounded by 3 of Smozoma's Players, slides the puck past a sprawling/screened Fuhr to make it 4-3 Beavers with 6 minutes to go. 2 minutes later, a big scramble around Smozoma's net ends up with Beaver's Modano finding the puck and shoveling it into the empty net to make it 5-3 with 4 left to play, but just 20 seconds later Mogilny scores on a breakway to make it 6-3. Smozoma's Selanne would score another with 30 seconds to play, but it's too little, too late as Beavers advances and Smozoma goes home.

    FINAL SCORE: 6-4 Beavers

    RedWingDevil (7) AT Logan (2)

RedWingDevil opens the scoring 3 minutes into the 1st, when Yzerman puts a backhander on Roy that just squeaks through 5-hole, making it 1-0 RWD.The game would remain 1-0 until 3 minutes into the 2nd, when RWD's Lindros picks up his own rebound and backhands it in for a 2-0 RWD lead. Logan continues to push, but can't buy a goal until 20 seconds into the 3rd, when Hull feeds Gilmour cross-crease for an open-net one-timer, cutting RWD's lead to 2-1. Just 2 minutes later, Logan's Hull skates in, and with everybody watching him, he drops a nice pass to Lemieux, who cranks it top shelf to tie it at 2-2 with 8 minutes to play. The clock trickles down to 0, and nobody can put their team ahead before the game heads to overtime. RWD's team shows up for OT, outshooting Logan 24-15 in the extra frame, but STILL the game remains tied, and has to be settled in a shootout thanks to a brilliant performance by Logan's Roy (49 Saves) and RWD's Potvin (36 Saves). In the shootout, both teams 3 forwards can't solve the goalies, but in Round 4, Logan's unlikely hero Doug Wilson slides the puck five-hole to give Logan a 1-0 lead in the shootout. RWD's and Logan's next shooters are denied, setting the stage for RWD's Scott Stevens: He has to score to keep the shootout going. Stevens skates in, dekes forehand, backhand, cuts back to forehand and shoots, but Roy's outstreched pad takes away the open net. RWD's tournament is over, Logan heads to the Semi-Finals.

    FINAL SCORE: 3-2 Logan (SO)

    OrangeBlack (11) AT Snyder (3)

With 3 out of 4 of the top 4 seeds advancing to the semis, OrangeBlack has the last chance at staging an upset. Snyder won both games agaisnt OrangeB in the qualification round. The first period remains scoreless with a minute to go and the puck in OrangeB's defensive zone. Federov wins a battle behind the net and passes to Gretzky in the corner, who sees a streaking Lemieux and sets him up for the one-timer and a 1-0 Snyder lead. In the 2nd, both teams push but neither can score , and despite 20 shots (12-8 for Snyder) in the period, the score remains 1-0 heading into the 3rd. 2 minutes in, Snyder's Lemieux receives a pass from Schenider and takes a slap shot that just squeaks through Potvin's armpit for a 2-0 Snyder lead. OrangeB would keep pushing, but could not solve Fuhr, and Lemieux completes his hat-trick with an empty net goal late in the 3rd to put it away.

    FINAL SCORE: 3-0 Snyder

    Semi-Finals

    Beavers (4) AT Statto (1)

3 minutes into the period, Beaver's Modano picks up a rebound off a Mogilny Slapshot and puts it home to make it 1-0 Beavers. Statto's Yzerman gets his team going by scoring with 3 minutes to go in the 1st, and then again 3 minutes into the 2nd, erasing Beavers lead and making it 2-1 Statto. The 2nd period gets hectic, with Statto's Lemieux making it 3-1 a minute later, but Beaver's Mogilny bringing it back to within 1 just 2 minutes later, again. Then, with 2 minutes to go in the period, Yzerman streaks in, receives a pass from Molgilny, and snaps a one-timer home to restore the 2 goals lead at 4-2 Statto. The 3rd period is much more defensive, with Statto trying to hold the lead. Beaver's can't break through, and Yzerman gets a gift hat-trick with an empty net goal at the end of the period.

    FINAL SCORE: 5-2 Statto

    Snyder (3) AT Logan (2)

It takes only 5 minutes to open the scoring, when Snyder's Lemieux gets a breakaway and snaps a quick shot over Roy's glove to make it 1-0 Snyder. Just minutes later, Bourque makes a terrible mistake and puts the puck into his own net to make it 2-0 Snyder. With 2 to go in a bad first period for Logan, Snyder's Gretzky takes a pass from Lemieux and slides it past Roy to make it 3-0 Snyder, heading into the 2nd. Early in the 2nd, Snyder's Lemieux would again put one over Roy's glove to make it a big 4-0 lead. 3 minutes later, Logan's Hull takes a pass from Gilmour and hammers it home to cut the lead to 3, 4-1 Snyder. Logan keeps pushing, but it's Snyder who scores next when Gretzky puts a nice move on Roy on the breakaway, 5-1 Snyder with 3 minutes to go in the 2nd. Early in the 3rd, Logan's Lemieux makes it 5-2 off a rebound shot. Just 2 minutes later, Logan's Gilmour gets a gimme goal off a nice pass from Hull, cutting the lead to 5-3. However, that's all the offense Logan can muster, and the 3rd ends with no extra scoring.

    FINAL SCORE: 5-3 Snyder

    post-2845-1269380628_thumb.png

  16. Elimination 'C'

    TubaHero (9) AT Halifax (8)

The defending champ and the lovable underdog go toe to toe, and somebody is going home empty handed. Just 20 seconds into the game, a pass delfects off TubaHero's Blake and Halifax's Gilmour takes the puck in alone on Soderstrom. He takes 2 whacks at it as Blake gets pack and gets the puck while accidentally pushing Soderstrom out of position, and Gilmour takes advantage by stealing the puck from Blake and quickly firing it into the open net before Soderstrom's dive can get there, 1-0 Halifax. The 1st period ends with the score still 1-0, but 3 minutes into the second Halifax's Pat Lafontaine is taken out of the game by a huge Zalapski hit, leaving replacement Geoff Courtnall to take over for the rest of the game. The game gets frantic in the 2nd and the shots are 16-17 Halifax heading into the final minute, but the score is still 1-0 until Zalapski dekes into the left slot and puts a quick low shot on Halifax's Blue, who can't control the rebound and Mogilny picks it up and puts another shot on net, only to be robbed by Blue's stacked pads, but Zalapski steps up again and picks up the rebound and shovels it into the net past a sprawling Blue, tying the game up at 1-1 going into the 3rd. The game remains tied until midway through the period when Halifax's Modano puts a harmless shot on net, but TubaHero's Manson comes in too hard and bumps his goalie out of net and then gives up the puck to Modano, who puts home the gift for a 2-1 Halifax lead with 4 minutes to go. Barely a minute later, TubaHero shows why he's the champ, as Mogilny comes in on a 3 on 1, passes to Klima, who drops it to Kamensky for a fantastic one-timer goal. The score remains tied at 2-2 until the last second ticks down. The teams head to overtime. 50 seconds into overtime, TubaHero's Klima cuts towards the crease as Kamensky follows behind. Halifax's Murphy skates in to block Klima as Desjardins pokes it away. Kamensky skates in and gets control of the puck and brings it to his backhand and waits...before sliding a backhand past Blue's outstreched pad. The champ moves closer to defending his title, and the underdog goes home emptyhanded.

    FINAL SCORE: 3-2 (OT) TubaHero

    Freydey (12) AT Smozoma (5)

Unimpressed with Patrick Roy's 4.00 GAA in the qualification round, Freydey goes into this game with untested backup Jeff Hackett. Smozoma sports the best record of those who didn't get byes into the quarterfinals, and looks to be in good position to move on against Freydey's re-done lineup. 6 minutes into the first, Modano (pulled by Freydey after the Qualification Round in favor of Andreychuk) gets another chance when Manson is injured for the game, leaving Modano to play defense. With 3 minutes left in the first, Smozoma's Lemieux streaks in on a breakaway and rips one fivehole on Hackett for the 1-0 lead. Again, with 3 minutes left in the 2nd, Smozoma's Lindros feeds a pass to an open Lemieux in the slot, but it's just out of his reach, but what looks like a missed opportunity is saved by Selanne when he receives the missed pass and quickly feeds it back to Lemieux for a one-timer goal and a 2-0 Smozoma lead. Freydey's team just can't keep up with Smozoma's talented offense, and goals by Malakhov and Lindros put away the game in the 3rd.

    FINAL SCORE: 4-0 Smozoma

    Shaftman (10) AT RedWingDevil (7)

Tournament I runner-up RedWingDevil has to go through Shaftman if he wants another shot at the championship. With 2 minutes to go in the first, RedWingDevil's Sakic skates behind the net, then stops on a dime and comes back out to feed Yzerman for the one-timer and a 1-0 lead. Just a minute later, Yzerman again scores, needing a rebound and two whacks to get it by Joseph, making it 2-0 RedWingDevil with 2 minutes left. With just 10 seconds left, Shaftman's gains some momentum when Sakic slides a backhander fivehole, which Potvin gets a piece but the puck dribbles in to make it 2-1. Early in the 2nd, RedWingDevil's Lindros makes it 3-1 with a hard wrister, but again Shaftman answers a minute later when Neely gets a rebound and puts it into a wide open net, restoring the 1-goal deficit at 3-2. With 3 minutes left, RedWingDevil's Yzerman restores the 2-goal lead with a nice backhand deke. RedWingDevil make it a 3-goal lead with a minute go in the 2nd when Shaftman's defense has an awful giveaway right to Lindros in front of the net, who puts an easy one in to make it 5-2. In the 3rd, Yzerman and Neely would trade goals for RedWingDevil and Shaftman, respectively, but the game is out of reach for Shaftman.

    FINAL SCORE: 6-3 RedWingDevil

    OrangeBlack (11) AT Zalex (6)

The first goes back and forth, but neither team can solve the goalies. It takes until 4 minutes into the 2nd when OB's Roenick rips a shot past Essensa for a 1-0 lead, then 1 minutes later he does it again to make it 2-0. Zalex's own Roenick answers 4 minutes later to bring it to within 1, but Modano makes it 3-1 OrangeBlack only 30 seconds later. The 3rd opens, and within a minute OrangeBlack's Roenick completes the hat-trick to make it 4-1, and Modano scores his 2nd 10 seconds later to make it 5-1. Zalex would pull within 2 again with his Roenick completing HIS hat-trick with 2 quick goals, but OrangeBlack's Bure puts it away with an empty net goal late in the 3rd.

    FINAL SCORE: 6-3 OrangeBlack

    Stats

    post-2845-1268952686_thumb.png

  17. You said it, Smoz, Hull is godlike. As for "Kneely", I caught "Sakick" and "Zaplapski" but that one slipped by :D.

    Qualification Blurbs

    New Records

Logan's Brett Hull has 11 goals, 3 less than the single-tournament record: 14 by Brett Hull (TubaHero) in Tournament I.

Smozoma's Eric Lindros has 7 assists, 3 less than the single-tournament record: 10 by Wayne Gretzky (RedWingDevil) in Tournament I.

Logan's Brett Hull has 14 points, 3 less than the single-tournament record: 17 by Brett Hull (TubaHero) in Tournament I

Logan (18), Beavers (17), and Zalex (17) are all within 6 goals of the single-tournament record of 23 (TubaHero) in Tournament I.

    Hull Asskissing

So far in Sim Tournaments, Hull has 40 goals in 15 games, the highest Goals Per Game Avg. (2.67) out of all Players, far ahead of the next highest: 1.16 - Teemu Selanne. 2 Teams got St. Louis (Hull's team) this Tournament: Shaftman and Logan. Logan chose Hull (11G,3A) who currently leads the tournament in scoring. Shaftman chose Curtis Joseph, who is currently 2nd last in the tournament in Save % (.859). Alexandre Daigle feels a chill on his spine.

    TubaHero's Streak Ended

TubaHero's 3-0 Loss to Zalex ended his 6-0 winning streak, which started with a win in his first game in Tournament I. This is the new record for longest win-streak. TubaHero, the defending champ, now sits in a Elimination game agaisnt Halifax, the perennial underdog. Experts predict no less than 30 different ways of saying "shoots the puck" in the writeup, which will feature a introduction written by Michael Bay.

    Dr. Pizza's Successor

Shaftman has volunteered to do commentary for the Championship game. Anyone else that is interested should PM me. If there's too many people interested, whoever can do the best Pierre McGuire impersonation wins.
