  1. Gen league:

    Wales:

first round winners will be the four top seeds

    Phil, Montreal, Bos, NYI

all 4 of these guys are very good players, but I think Philly will beat Montreal in the finals.

    Cambell:

Dallas has already taken out Calgary. I think the other top seeds will win (sorry James :D:lol:)

I think Dallas will beat Toronto in the 2nd round, Detroit over SJ. Then Dallas over Detroit

    Cup Finals Dallas over Philly

  2. wrong place to post the series' scores kgman, just post scores in any random post :)

by the way pts is what matters so you face SJ

I plan on posting my scores in bits and pieces across various forums, Easter Egg Hunt style.

    good luck Evan :)

  3. So, I can't host games anymore. Here is what I'm doing:

I open Gens. I go into Netplay. I open a server. When I click on "Create new game", I see NHL 94 Spring Gens as an option. But, when I click on it, the bottom half of Kaillera goes blank.

    Any help?

I can be "road team" no problem.

  4. Is there going to be a separate thread at some point for voting on various awards?

    I'll do it right now.

    Best Regular Season: Marc

Most with the Least Award: John

Toughest Division: Congrats to all of us in the Central!!

(the only division with more Goals Scored than Allowed...and by a lot!)

Rain on my parade award: kgman

    that is all

  6. As in, "know in real life". I can say honestly that I'm better than anybody I ever played live against. This includes those guys who made similar claims (ie a mutual friend claims that we are equal players, but then we played and I won, etc).

Then I started playing online, and found a bunch of dudes who were at least as good as me and some maybe better.

Question is, have you guys had similar experiences? Were you the best guy in your circle of friends/hometown/school/whatever?

side question: do you think this league is indicative of the best North American players?

  7. As the infamous calgary, I may as well poke my head in on this conversation...

I feel like I've played very well this season, but anything can happen in the playoffs. I feel just about everyone who has participated in this thread can win the league if they get a few breaks in a best of 7 series. Just a bunch of very good players, so it's not like there is a big obvious difference between players.

Speaking personally, a lot of my success comes down to form at the time of the game. For instance, Ken pointed out my lousy record against him and SJ, being 0-4 against them, which is partly matchups, but also because those were the first four games I played of the season and I hadn't played NHL online in months. Since those games, he correctly pointed out I am 26-3. Same thing happened to me last season, as I had best regular season record in the leauge (24-6 I think), yet I was one period away from losing my first round playoff series 4 games to 1 because I hadn't played online in a month or so and was really rusty. Fortunately I righted the ship just in time and dominated the last 3 games of the series. HABS got the better of me in the finals, though obviously I have a much better team in calgary this season than being stuck with st louis last season.

Anyway, long story short, nothing is guaranteed here. Too many good players and NHL 94 can be so unpredictable on top of that. Should be fun....

(btw, never played kgman, so can't comment on his skills. given the buzz though, sounds like quite a player)

I agree with just about everything you said here

  8. Totally agree.

Just think about how I feel getting stuck with crappy NJ and being a crappy player to start with! :girl:

    Sort of a double negative.

I agree in principle that letting the best players pick the best/their favored teams creates a system where the best players will always come out on top. question is, is that a bad thing? or should we be creating a league whose goal is closer competition and parity?

that's really the issue here - once (if!) people can agree on the goal of the league, then figuring out the draft is much easier.

  9. I do have to give a shout out to Calgary though. He is tough to beat at home, but not so tough on the road. He smoked me like I have never been smoked before one game. Gotta love 94.

    Can't wait for the playoffs.

yeah, I do think a lot of it is matchups. I noticed that SJ is 2-0 vs Calgary, and Detroit (me :girl:) is 2-0 vs Calgary, but Calgary has obliterated the rest of the league (26-3!!!). maybe we match up well against him, or maybe we both got lucky and he'll cream us next time around. dunno.

and last night Kgman beat me 10-1, easily the worst loss of my life as Detroit. there's something about his style I haven't been able to cope with.

also also, NHL is like a lot of other things where you can go into a slump. over the past couple of nights, I lost like 8 straight with Detroit - previous to this, my longest lifetime losing streak was probably 2 or 3 games.

it's a combination of me playing very tough opponents and me playing poorly.

  10. ooooooohhhh fiiiiiiiiiiiiight :girl:

yes kgman is very good but I have yet to play a game that wasnt hella lagged with him.. even though we both live in the same city, wierd.

i like best of 15s haha

HABS I found out last night that you live in Toronto. isn't that some sort of sin to root for the Canadians?

  11. Excuse me, what?

You don't think I'm better than you????

Are you being medicated at this time? Are psychotropic substances ravaging your grey matter at this moment?

Here's how it goes in North America:

kgman > Tick, tk (HABS) > Ben > everyone else

Tick you're a great player and you seem like a gentleman to boot, no disrespect intended, but no I don't think you're better than me. I think at any given time I could beat you 4/7 and vice versa (last night you whooped me good as I said).

ditto for Habs. I've played him a bunch of times and we've come out pretty even with me as Detroit and him as Canadians. with line changes he did kill me - w/o I might even have the edge. I dunno we are very close I think and he would probably vouch for me.

as for kgman, he was clearly better than me, and I thought I would be fortunate to win 2 games out of 7...that was what I was trying to say.

  12. What does it have to do with "like"?

I mean really, not to be a dick, but so called "good players" only like the strong fast teams so they can beat up on the weak using the same moves over and over.

But at least if the good players use the lesser teams, there might actually be some competition in the league.

video games are fun, and I have more fun playing with certain teams...that's all I was saying.

  13. Hey coaches,

Due to time constraints, I gave the coaching duties of Dallas to kgman. I was in contact with Mark, but I felt giving the team to someone I know will play a ton of games would be the best move. Info is updated on the website.

Mark, you'll def be in the next season (with your friend) so start playing practice games online!

    Goodluck kgman!

    :D:D:unsure::unsure:

awesome...I get 3 games with dallas as the prodigal son returns

  14. yah except most people that want to finish cant because others never finish their games [ANAHIEM/QUEBEC] no names being mentioned..

so your theory is pretty shitty

we could do an order just like the nhl where the teams that finish the best [this also takes into consideration the playoffs] would get lower picks for the teams..

which would be a much better way to do it...also for next season keep it at 20 teams since there are like 4 guys who slack off and cant win with bad teams..Why join with a bad team and then not finish the season did you really expect to win?

pretty much same thing rocco is saying

a reverse draft order is fine with me, but I would prefer that seasons be kept on the short side if we do that. I'd rather not have to play 40 games with a team I don't like...but 20-30 is fine I guess.

  15. Hey guys,

Just wanted to update you on the EA proposal. The sales guy where I work was unable to track the vice president down during the conference. He will be sending the proposal over to him very soon, and I will update more as soon as I know.

Again, we're not expecting anything, so even a response is something.

    -Evan
