  1. Umm...that was the point sir.

I went 29-10 with san jose. kgman won the cup with dallas.

The player is what counts, not the team.

I wrote this and people are bumping in a sad attempt to prove I'm a hypocrite.

It's of course complete bull. The player IS what counts. I think thats fairly obvious when you look at my record with san jose and washington, 2 s**t teams, over the past 2 seasons.

However when you enter into the playoffs, the regular season means JACK and I ALSO prove that over the past 2 seasons. A better player can ALWAYS beat a BETTER TEAM if that player is SUPERIOR.

When you enter the playoffs, its a TOTALLY DIFFERENT ANIMAL. You have one team vs one team. Even if youre superior to 90% of the players, if you play a player of EQUAL TALENT (amongst the 10% that are equal, or better than you)and that player has a GREAT TEAM, you will LOSE 100% of the time! Thats EXACTLY what happened to me the past 2 seasons. You want proof of this theory? Check my overall record. I have something like a %700 winning percentage!!! And my reward the past 2 years are 2 first round sweeps at the hands of all star teams, controlled by players of equal, or better talent!

Am I saying I would have won? No, I'm not. I'm saying we should each be allowed to pick OUR team that suits OUR abilities!

In that sense, YES, the PLAYER is what counts. Which means I could beat Chicago with Calgary against a WEAK opponent! The team in THIS CASE does NOT matter! And THATS what I was trying to get across.

So, nice try! Keep bumping those old threads KGMAN! And I'll keep shooting down your attempts over and OVER again!

In fact, I RELISH when you bump my threads! Gives me an excuse to state how I feel MANY TIMES OVER! :D

  2. So if you knew what you were getting into.. why do you b***h about what happened? If you got STUCK with washington and got owned in the first round, sure... then you can b***h. But if you intentionally pick a shitty team you have no right to b***h when they perform exactly as you had thought they would.

Man do you ever go away?

I'm making a point on how we should all be allowed to pick whichever team we want. If you wanna call that bitching, go ahead.

Me picking a great team does not solve the problem. Now my OPPONENT is at a disadvantage. And then you'd hear "more bitching".

You seem to think I keep bitching because I lost. You just dont get it, despite it being explained to you 100 times. I'm bitching because there is no disparity.

  3. and perhaps this is misinterpreted....cause it seems like you were happy to get rid of pittsburgh and take washington and not doing it for the sake of being nice for others.

If you want to believe that, I wont argue.

I was happy. I did not want high powered Pittsburgh and their all star team.

It's fairly obvious Pitt is far better than Washington, so it's not like I didn't realize what I was getting in to.

The only "irony" is that I shouldn't have tried to be so nice, because look where it got me. I'll give you that much.

  4. First off I would just like to say i had a blast playing in this league. Even though Toronto wasnt a team that fit my strengths, i still had a blast competing with all the guys in the league this season. I wouldn't have been as successful as i was if it werent for some people helping me along the way.

First and foremost id like to thank Evan. He allowed me to move into the A league despite my limited experience and ability. He had the confidence in me that i would get all my games in and hopefully be competitive. I will totally understand if i get sent down to B next season so i can pay my dues like everyone else trying to move up. I just want to thank you for giving me the chance though, i had a blast.

Next id like to thank the guys who helped me get into this league. MattHurray played a large role in gettting me into this league, he vouched for me saying i could compete and he helped me so much with my defense and learning how to play a better game.

Id also like to thank addisonbr. He played the very first game with me and handed my ass to me, but he did give me the desire to continue working on my game so i could hopefully compete one day. Also he supported my bid to get into the league and he continues to play games with me on a regular basis where we can work on our skills. Without him i wouldnt be the player i am right now.

Id like to thank James/vocally caged, playing him gave me confidence i could hang with the big boys and not get slapped around. He is a great player who really made me elevate my play to another level that i wasnt aware that i possessed. There is a massive amount of mutual respect between us and id like to think we will have some epic battles in the future.

Also backhander needs to get his due. He took detroit and whooped me time and time again at my request. He challenged me on a level that im not ready for yet, but hopefully with some more improvement i can play on his level consistently.

Setar needs major props. He took the time to record, commentate, and process the videos of games 1-4 of my playoff series. He does an amazing job when he can be heard and i appreciate everything he has done.

Lastly, i want to thank hokkefan for one hell of a series. Im dissapointed with the end result, but as ive sad a few times already, ive never seen so much suspense or had so much fun playing a video game. i now consider you a major rival and i will make sure i always bring a little extra when playing with you, but its all good natured of course.

As for anyone i have forgotten, here is my thanks for you in making me a better player and providing an enjoyable experience.

No matter what league im in next season,i look forward to more fun.

    Angry Jay

I would like to thank myself. B)

  5. your right, it would be easier to take the loss if you know it was you and not a team of lesser ability. but such is life, we all face that situation in this league outside of a few exceptions, so i know a few others will share your pain, i may even be one of them later on. but i still love the league the way it is and any improvements that can be made i know will be appreciated by the masses.

Regardless of Washingtons talent, I still could have won.

I just didnt play my best, so I'm not "entirely" blaming it it on team disparity. Just partially.

I'm just saying its harder to win when you have to be on your game every second. Possible, but much harder.

  6. just make a rom with all players and goalies ranked the same and problem solved

    Hows this:

A rom with one line of speedy players, one line of defensive grit players, and one line with players who are in between.

This way anyone can set their team any way they like. Noone can complain "this team doesnt fit my style", because you can edit your team anyway you choose. It would be bland either, because everyone would set their lines differently. <_<

  7. I just want to say i agree with crossbars desire to see 12 teams out of 20 to make the playoffs. i know ive told evan my 12 team plan and i wont repeat it again sicne i have posted it on the forums once or twice.

as for bsdaemon. seriously dude, i know you love to post and get your posts all over the place. but im going to make a suggestion. posting just for the sake of posting isnt always the greatest thing to do, instead of taking little cheap shots like you just did at crossbar, you could just not say anything at all. sometimes biting ones tounge is more wise then being as blunt as possible.

Yeh. I dont mind disagreeing, but trolling is another issue. We should all respect each others opinions.

  8. He shoulda picked a better team <_<

Hell, I didn't even sign up until a month into it, and I got Chicago...

I didnt pick a better team because it goes against my principles, and I dont like having an unfair advantage.

Every player should be able to pick whichever team they want. Then I'd have no problem picking a great team.

  9. your right, and im not saying its unfair. im just saying they dont fit my strengths and i do what i can with them, which so far has been competitive and im happy with that.

I know crossbar wants to win championships and i see his frustration with tryign to win a championship with a team like washington. i dont blame him at all for his frustration, i just dont think he handled it well, but now that he has controlled it he is bringing up some good points that other members here might side with. I want him to keep voicing his opinions in the manner he has been lately because it might help this league become better.

Youre right I didnt handle it well in at the start. I came across as flaming. I apologize.

But I do stand by my opinion. It's not even so much about winning a championship. Truth be told, I most likely wouldnt win anyway.

I just want to come away knowing that if I lost, it was due to my own play, and not because of my weak team vs. their strong team. Sure, I didnt play as well as I could have, but I cant honestly come out saying "I lost because of me" because its just not entirely true. Fact is, I was shorthanded the whole series and handicapped. Could I have overcome it? Sure. But I just feel I shouldt "have" to "overcome" any odds. It should be fair from the start, and thats what bugs me.

I see your point about not being diverse enough. I respect that point of view.

  10. BHF,

I think besides having the time to set it up properly, I don't think we have the ability to grab the stats from an SNES league game at this time.

Please someone chime in if they know differently.

    -Evan

    EVAN,

I think you ought to consider letting the players pick whichever team they want next season. I made a mistake of picking a weak team again, and my reward for a sparkling 29-10 season was the same as last year: A 1st round sweep to a 15-25 team, who by his own admission "tanked" the regular season.

IMO, the regular season right now has little to no meaning. Mabye cut down the number of teams that make it to 12 or even less. I know this is tough, because you think people will quit once they are mathimatically elminated, but imo its the best way. If players quit just chalk it up to a forfeit, and then warn them that in the future they will be replaced if they refuse to play their games.

Letting players pick their own teams will give everyone a fair shake, and if a player loses, they have noone to blame but themselves. You will still have different teams. Not everyone is going to pick Chicago. Personally, I know alot of people who dont care for Chicago. Habs will still pick the Habs, Matt will pick boston, and so on. Sure, a couple of players will have the same team, but so what.

In this fashion, there can be no question who the TRUE champion of the league is. Now I'm not saying this because I lost. I'm really not. In fact, if you went with my idea, I STILL think I'd struggle in the playoffs. BUT, at the very least, I'll take with me the fact that I lost because of ME, and not because Mario Lemuiex scored 7 goals against an inferior Washington team. I admit, I played poorly, but that is a pretty big disadvantage to overcome.

Even worse are the ANAHEIMS, OTTAWA'S, and FLORIDAS of the world. Do these players have ANY shot? Mabye if kgman played them.

In my opinion, the league as is resembles the way MLB is run. Certain teams have no shot from the get go, while other teams are basically "guaranteed" to go far.

What I'd like to see is the league more closely resemble the NFL. Where EVERY year, ANYONE has a chance to win it all. I dont even like the NFL, but they have their s**t together. I am a huge MLB fan, but they dont have a clue.

Just my opinion man, and I dont expect you to change anything based on what I think. You do a great job regardless.

  11. you do bring up an interesting point with having lets say 5-10 set teams and we can pick between those.

call me a purist though, i dont like the idea of a couple people having the same team , i like seeing different teams and seeing how all the people use all these teams. I think we run the same danger of having some degree of blandness in the league due to only a handful of teams being used. this however is a better solution then the first one you had where everyone is the same team.

lol but if everyone picks the same team, that only proves I was right all along.

I think people will mix it up. Habs will still pick..the habs. Matt will pick boston. kgboy would pick chicago, and I would pick toronto or calgary. Thered still be a healthy mix. Just a thought.

IMO, seeing how people use different teams works if you have a small league.

But once you get down to the ottawa's, and anaheim's...well, there aint much there to work with.

  12. Who said it went over my head? I just simply stated that baseball has nothing to do with NHL94.

"start looking at yourself"... coming from the guy who blames his losses on his team, and not his skill.

Oh cut the crap. kgboy is skilled, but if you think the teams you pick mean nothing, I have a bridge to sell you.

The first 2 letters in your name are what you are full of.

  13. Because baseball has so much to do with NHL94....

I'm in favour of a league that doesn't suck.

Such an intelligent and well thought out reply.

Guess the Yankees reference went right over your head. Have someone explain it to you.

You are the only one causing trouble in this thread, and everyone in the snes league hates you. I think you have to start looking at yourself at some point buddy.
