  1. I played a line-changes game recently, and it was flippin' brutal, even with CHI and MTL. I'm not sure how I enjoyed line changes so much in dmitry's first league.. musta been because I had an amazing goalie (giguere) and the smartest player i've ever seen in nhl94 (federov).

So now i need to work out a way to have 10-team leagues that don't use all the players. Current thought: flip the weights so that guys rated highly (lemieux, hull, etc) are actually good, and then give people a salary cap with which they can draft. ie, lemieux costs you $9.9 million dollars, because he's rated 99, and you only have 40 million or so to draft your top 6 players with. backup players would have some other limitation so you can't pick scrubs for your 5th and 6th guys, then pick some good guys as "backups" and then play them on the top line.

Heh. Smoz, you have the exact same idea as I do/did. FVHL and all. I wanted to have salaries at the start, but the process proved too complicated so we settled for bidding instead.

  2. I made a multitude of these diving saves, using the same rules as you for goalie control (except the red line instead of blue). It was in SNES, and the topic should be mulling around here somewhere.

Great save, and I agree, pulling them off make you feel more fantastic than a nice goal.

  3. Indeed. Don't say something like "Cater to the newbies" like it's a bad thing. Don't we want to have the new guys enjoy so they themselves can become vets? Or do we really need to have even teams in terms of players when most of us vets could do just fine with Sundin or Courtnall?

  4. Cut Donch a bit of slack. He's doing a ridiculous amount of work to get season 3 going again. You don't have to be happy, but try not be a sarcastic a**hole about stuff. It's hardly productive, and s**t like this makes me tired and dissapointed.

Seriously, what the hell EA. Donch puts a lot of effort and time into making a draft lottery program to help balance stuff out, and you just decide to be a prick and basically imply that the work he put into it was a 'waste of time'.

  5. EA, you're assuming all the votes without posts were made by GDL coaches. That may not be true, and counting them would not make sense. Hopefully the new topic would help.

And cmon. I had 21st pick last time and I snagged Sundin, and he was 3rd leading scorer. Course, you and AJ demolished his goals by 100+, my point is simply being that there are enough skilled players for this to work.\

Also, enough of this bullshit. Discuss your issues with the rules in a LEVEL-HEADED way. PM Donch with your issues and say it in a LEVEL-HEADED way. Without Donch we wouldn't even be moving forward yet. You're allowed to disagree and voice your opinion. I'm just sick of this sarcastic assholery.

Did not having hokkee here just leave some kind of void some of you were just compelled to fill?

  6. I'm liking the divisions Donch posted. They seem to be a bit more balanced, with each division having good competition. My only suggestion is to switch awesomerino or eddie with Hurray (division 2 and 3 respectively). I don't mean any offense here, I just think it would balance it out a bit more.

  7. For the record, looking at the votes right now, picking 2 minutes because it has the most votes wouldn't exactly be right. 3 and 4 minutes should almost be counted together, as clearly the people choosing those ones want a longer than usual penalty

  8. As long as BHF doesn't get JR. In that case we need to create a third division for him, by himself. Top team in it makes playoffs.

Also, i'm completely agaisnt doing away with conferences. I find it much more fun to have them so that we have conference and division races going on.
