  1. If you are as lazy as me and don't like to write those codes you can edit the configuration file for DosBox.

Adding this lines to the end of "dosbox.conf" (using notepad):

    mount d f:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -apsi

    mount c d:\games

Note; the code should be placed after

    [autoexec]

    # Lines in this section will be run at startup.

Where F: is the virtual cd-drive and d:\games the directory to the game folder where the hockey.exe files is located.

to start the game, simply write:

    c:

    then

    hockey

this works fine in the latest version 0.70, dont know if it works in older versions though

Excellent dude! This is the next step yes.

  2. Hello,

I have a original NHL 95 MS-DOS CDROM from back in the day.

I tried my darnest but kept getting errors trying to install it.

Can someone please help me to figure out what to do?

I would like to be able to install it on both Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP as well.

    Many thanks,

    MMMM

    Hi,

Make an image out of it, and then read this post:

  3. does anyone know how to extract the team logos from the in-game screen?

i am talking about the team logos that appear in the grey bar along the bottom of the screen when you are playing on the pc version. if anybody had updated ones, that would be even better. i am looking to get them in a gif/jpeg/png format.

    thanks!

    Yep,

You have to have a editor for that one... Toni Wilen made these ones: NHLInfo, GFXPak, SNDView. With those we changed new team logos, player jerseys for ingame and some other stuff, like rink.... back in 95-98.

    Check them out:

  4. Regarding gamepad... Chances are slim to none that it will work. Instead, try out "JoyToKey", makes gamepads work with "any" game. Translates a button press on the gamepad into a keyboard key stroke. Works excellent.

    :D

    Hi,

At least dosBox emulates old good Gravis Analog Pro totally. And the graphic addons which we have made work like a charm. Gotta try my wireless gamepad, so that I can play with my laptop too...

And check my XP HOW TO topic from nhl 95 forum :P

    Cheers,

  5. Hi everyone,

At least for me NHL95 has been a major headache for a long time, when trying to play it on XP. Finally with DosBox I managed to make it work. And Heres how I did it.

    FIRST RUN:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    IN XP:

    -download and install dosbox

-make an iso of your original nhl95 cd

-mount nhl95 image in XP with Aclohol 120% or daemon tools

-create a games folder to one of your hard drives. This folder will be mounted as a drive in a dosbox, and nhl95 will be installed into this folder

    -start dosbox

    IN DOS BOX

    - mount d f:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -apsi /*where f is the letter of the virtual drive in XP with mounted nhl95 image */

    - mount c d:\games /* where d:\games is the folder created for nhl95 */

    - d: /* navigate to dosbox mounted cd-rom */

    - install /* install the nhl95 */

    - choose the c as target drive /* or what ever is the mounted drive in dosbox */

    - choose c:\hockey /* or what ever is your choice */

    - after install increase the CPU cycles /* choose rate that is best for you computer, I used 10000 */

    - c:

    - cd to install path

    - hockey

    - enjoy!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    NEXT TIME:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    IN XP:

-mount nhl95 image in XP with Aclohol 120% or daemon tools

    -start dosbox

    IN DOS BOX:

    - mount d f:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -aps

    - mount c d:\games

    - c:

    - cd to install path

    - hockey

    - enjoy!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    NOTES:

    - To increase cycles ctrl + F12, to decrease ctrl + F11

    - to lock or unlock mouse to dosbox ctrl + F10

    - to switch between full screen or window alt + Enter

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Well,

Thats it. Hope you make it work and enjoy NHL95 or many years to come!

    Cheers,

    Ouzo

  6. Hi mates,

I just played NHL95 2 days ago on my laptop.

Dosbox does the trick. I made it work by mounting my NHL95.iso(image of original cd) image to a virual drive on my XP, which I then mounted in dosbox as a cd drive. Then I mounted my d:\games folder as a drive in dosbox. After that I just installed the game in dosbox from cd(mounted), and played it. Sounds, graphics and gameplay are as smooth as playing on our dedicated NHL95 computer(486).

I had a bit problems of game and sounds slowing down, but then I increased the dosbox cycles to 10000 or so. Works well... except that my laptop screen won't strecth to 640x400 etc. resolution smoothly. Had to play on a windowed mode...

Didn't test joystick support yet... gotta do it when time.

    Cheers,

    Ouzo
