  1. It's true, the Canadians just have so much more love for the game than Americans. It's sad, but true. I have been to high school football games in my hometown that have had a better turn out than the Fresno Falcons ECHL games. I would also like to see more Canadian Franchises in the league, like Winnipeg or even bring a team back to Quebec City. Also, without ESPN broadcasting NHL games anymore I don't think as many American Viewers are tuning into Versus as there were when ESPN was showing the games. Also, I don't think the NHL will ever gain the love and support of the NFL, NBA, or MLB in the US.

There is one good thing though that some of these American Expansion Teams have done. American Franchises have brought the game and have helped it to grow in areas where hockey never existed, such as LA, Florida, Nashville, Carolina, San Jose, etc. If it weren't for the LA Kings promoting hockey in Southern California, we probably wouldn't be seeing the LA Selects and California Wave bringing home so many youth hockey national titles. And growing up and playing hockey in Northern California (I'm sure Metz could testify as well) the Sharks have done A LOT for the game in Nor Cal. The San Jose Sharks own a Four Sheet facility in San Jose and another facility up the road in Fremont, CA and there is talk that they are planning to build another rink (a 3 sheet facility) in the Pleasington/Dublin area. Since my days of youth hockey I have seen the San Jose youth club grow from 10 teams (Mites-Midgets) to about 22 teams in a 10 year time frame, and that's just the travel club in San Jose without taking all the other clubs into consideration.

But hey, random fact: 200th Post!!!

  3. UPDATE

I'm sorry it's taking so long for us to advance on to the next round. So in all fairness to the guys in the East Regional Pool and the guys who have already advanced, Flamingpavel has until Tuesday July 22nd 11:59 EST to complete his games.

Flamingpavel-Sorry but it's been a week since you've taken over and three weeks since this tournament started. I know I didn't give you a set deadline, but it's only fair to the other guys in the tournament.

    Thanks for the patience everybody.

  4. Anaheim Ducks (vinniersmith) vs Bolts-Norfolk Admirals (orangeblack92)

In Bolts-Norfolk, (What ever state that is in inset here)

    ANA 4 BNA 3 OT

    ANA 4 BNA 1

GG's, game three the Admirals take a time out and Coach orangeblack92 writes up a plan to help send his team in to OT with three seconds left on the clock, but the comeback was turned down as Ryan Getzlaf capitalizes on a one timer in front a minute into the OT.

    I love writing these little write-ups :)

  5. Anaheim Ducks (vinniersmith) vs Bolts-Norfolk Admirals (orangeblack92)

    In Anaheim, CA

    ANA 8 BNA 7

    ANA 5 BNA 3

GG's and fast paced. Orangeblack had me 7-5 midway in the third of game one, but Anaheim pulled it together for a good comeback to steal the W.

  6. Hi everyone, My name is Chris and I am your newest member. I am more of a nhl97 guy (sry if that offends anybody), but I would still like to get started playing 94 online over the summer. Since I am still in High School, I do not have much time to do this during the school year and that is why I will not join any leagues right now. If someone would get me started online playing exibitions I would really appreciate it though. Thank you for making a wonderful website!!!

    GO FLYERS!!!

    Hey man,

I'll play you, hit me up on AIM sometime.

    AIM: vinniersmith

  7. U-MASS never played?

Change in plans. I was wanting to advance this thing along so I was going to split up JimCraig's games into forfiets, but I forgot I had someone on the waiting list. Sorry flamingpavel, I'm giving you U-Mass and you can have up until Tuesday to complete your games. Round two, aka the Frozen Four, will continue on Monday.

    -Vinnie

  8. FINAL DAY

With the extension I'm no longer going to give more time to complete. If you have any missed games, I will look and see who has given the most effort to get their games in, and divide the forfieted points equally to all teams in their bracket.

Later Tonight I will post the FROZEN FOUR, along with who is playing who and a deadline. The semi-finals are a best of 5.

GL and get those games in.
