    Great Series Iceguy..

The city of Buffalo can finally celebrate a sports championship!

Congratulations to Wags and Iceguy for participating in the GENS C season. Thanks to all for a smooth league.

  2. This would have saved me about 50 hours a few years ago. I was using some snes color editor and literally doing trial and error for colors of everything.

    Very cool.

I think it's still buggy but I'm glad that people are using it and that it's revived the ole SNES for just a little while longer.

Detroit wins the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl in 7 games.

Statto, thanks a lot for making my rookie season a great experience. I don't know how previous seasons ran, but you made this one pretty seamless. Cheers!

Glad you had a good experience.

    Detroit-Buffalo for the win.

  4. This is just ridiculous... how can you have trouble following the puck? Really WTF, it's the only black thing in a big pile of white... and it's what's everyone's moving toward... god damn americans.... xD, so stupid they can't follow a rubber on TV.

Um, Fox's puck tracker was supposed to revolutionize the sport. I sometimes have trouble on TV when the game's not in HD.

  5. Damn. Gj sarcdoc you kept those games pretty close judging by the score.

Congrats FPB and kudos to sarcdoc for his interest in waging the playoffs.

New Jersey v Hartford... an all New England series (kinda)... best of luck to both teams.

  6. GGs

This is definitely a heart breaker.

And the most stressful Series I have EVER played.

Seriously Im debating early SNES retirement after this one...

With the way things have been going I figured this was my last chance at a SNES title and I thought for sure I had it.

But then one day I wake up to find out I'm playing hartford..

    Reality set in.

It for sure as hell wont be easy.

    And it wasnt.

Granted, neither team managed to pull away in any game. They were all so close.

I definitely feel robbed by Steens failure and wtf hit the posts.

Especially in the dieing seconds of game 6 with the goalie pulled... Won the face off, went steaming in straigt to the net...deked the goalie...and hit the post.

    Sigh.

Congrats to Schwartz. He played well.

The biggest disappointment is not losing, but not having the chance at a SNES title again.

The way the interest has been around here. This might be the last SNES Classic :P

FPB you have your work cut out for you.

Looks like a great series and cheers for the sportsmanship surrounding this series on both sides. Apologies to shaft for the quick way this was thrown together. And don't give up man, without you there is no SNES.

Good luck to schwartz in the final.

  7. Hey Statto, here is an interesting concept, a team does well during the season, but for some reason they dont qualify for the playoffs because their opponent resigns? how does that work?

Everyone qualified for the playoffs. Check the threads.

Yea, I understand statto's rule, but it doesn't make sense. Why was I put up against a player who barely played games, and way late in the season at that. Why would I seek out a player whose inactivity is well known. What? Send emails, and wait for a no response? Why wasn't I sought out? Oh, that's because the other guy is inactive.

That's how the seeding worked out. Also, not a single first round playoff series was played, and I even threatened to just hand the title to shaftman. Then, a couple other people told me they were still interested in playing, so I advanced them to the second round. Seriously, I'm not out to get you. I'm trying to make sure games get played and that people who are still interested in playing are playing in the later rounds. When I seeded the second round, I knew of only three people who were still interested in playing - you simply did not state that you were still interested in playing, and I had no way of knowing otherwise.

  8. Funny, how my team is magically eliminated. I was eliminated from last season's finals and this season's playoff without playing. I guess if my opponent refuses to play me, I lose.

    You missed this rule then:

+ If you have not finished your series by June 1, and you want to advance to the next round, you must either post on the forums providing proof that 1) the other player was unavailable; 2) due to time restrictions, you have scheduled to play your games on the forums sometime reasonably soon (a week) after June 1.

I advanced people who complied with this rule.

  9. Well, I suppose things like that happen. It would be in the best interest to sort this little problem out.

And shaftman, it's not totally wrong that I'm trying to help a guy on his behalf if he hasn't contacted Statto by the reason above. Besides, wouldn't you do the same if your team got scratched off the playoffs even though you played your games and your opponent didn't?

He got scratched out of the playoffs because he didn't make any attempt to look for his let me know that he was still interested in the playoffs. I advanced people who showed an interest in the playoffs, including schwartz, who had a very specific request to continue playing today. If you look at what happened, I let people through to the second round in GENS who didn't play their series because their opponent didn't show up. I also noted that games would indeed be double forfeited if players didn't show up, and that games would be reseeded to reflect those who were interested in playing. I didn't just scratch people because people didn't play their games, and I didn't just add schwartz back in because I felt like it.

Deadline is June 16th before I scratch again.

  10. Hey, Statto. Prodigyof94 is rather displeased that you eliminated his team. He wants to talk to you and he wants to solve the situation with the SNES playoffs.

    Well, I can't please everybody.

I also don't have access to AIM, so point him to this thread. If he wants to play, I have bent the rules for SNES just because of the complete lack of interest from a number of different places. He did not post his availability however so I have every reason to bump him.

What I won't do is nullify the scores from the NJ-CGY series. Tell him he has to post here as soon as possible if he wants to play and I'll get this whole mess figured out.

  11. Just got a PM from schwartz saying he was out of town and wasn't around, so for the interests of competitiveness, Winnipeg will now play Hartford in the "second" round, and the winner of this series will play the winner of the New Jersey-Calgary series for the SNES Spring Classic Trophy.

I understand that this deviates from the rules slightly, but given both schwartz's circumstances and the circumstances regarding the poor turnout for the SNES playoffs, I feel as if this is in the best interests of all the parties involved (you get to play four to seven ultra-competitive SNES games).

    So have at it, guys.

  12. wow...dodged and skipped over for 2nd year in a row.....I wont be returning to classic again! godspeed

Without wanting to continue this discussion any further, you played the fewest games of anyone who played GENS this spring, and while it's certainly possible Wags put on a show on the forums trying to contact you just to not play you and advance to the next round, it's unlikely. Hence I advanced him and not you.

  13. I hope the homeless thing is temporary?? Otherwise let us know if we can help??

True but slightly exaggerated, I'm moving into a place in three weeks and am couch-surfing until then. Thankfully I'm not jobless. Just worry about playing your games.

  14. Congratulations to flamingpavelbure, who, as a 5 seed, muscled his way into the Stanley Cup final and defeated Detroit in a hard-fought 7-game series.

I think he's a worthy winner of GENS Spring League 2009 - he was the first one to finish his games, and I never had a problem with him.

Kudos also to freydey for making it as runners-up.

Finally, a thank you to all 11 surviving GENS A/B players this season. It was a rough go of things for awhile but almost 90% of games were played in the league and I think this is the first time in the history of NHL94 Online where a league has started late and finished early. Apart from two minor issues, thank you for a stress-free season.

A note to future commissioners: the most painful thing about running a league is the people who will pack their toys up and go home. I'm not calling anyone out specifically here, and I'm not talking about the people who sign up and are scheduled, then leave before a game is played - I'm talking specifically about people who bicker over laggy games or have unsportsmanlike conduct. I think these latter two cases will eventually kill the community, which is sad, but hopefully the waters sail a bit more smoothly from here on out - and again, thank you to everyone who avoided those two issues - there were a large number of you out there.

    Cheers
