(Through this remember that SNES is little endian, in many cases you need to byte swap the data to get something readable) 94 SNES has 976 frames. Seems like they put the frame data ahead of each frame's tile data in SNES. Frame data header is 0x10000-0x10F40 (4 bytes per frame, 976 frames) These seem to be 32-bit offsets that are relative from the current code segment, which in this case starts at 0x10000. The first offset is F40, so the first frame's data should be at 0x10F40. Frame data for first frame is 0x10F40-0x10F6B -- which points to tile Data from 0x10F6B-0x1108B Frame 1 uses 9 tiles. 0x120 bytes of tile data. Each tile is 0x2…

Just wondering what I’m doing wrong, I’m trying my hand at creating a custom rom hack and I did the logos in 8x8 fashion. Inserted my bmp file placed it in the correct spots the 6x4 layout. Can’t figure out how to get the logos to lineup as well as once I figure out the placement I get these horizontal lines. thankshttps://imgur.com/a/dW450V6

Okay, so I have a little bit of free time from my main Gens 94 hack I've been working on, so I decided to do a real quick side project with the SNES version of 94, my only problem is that I don't know how to fix the checksum errors in that. So if anyone knows how to do that, could someone please tell me how to? Thanks in advance.

Hey so I always enjoyed the SNES versions of NHL but couldn't stand the goalies catching with the wrong hand since NHL 95. Would like to remove the double instance of Jesse Belanger in 96. 98 just had too many players with the wrong hand. Is there an editor for these versions of the game or is it easy enough to hex edit and fix these issues. Thanks for your time and consideration in advance.

I started working on hacking SNES NHL'94 to try to expand it to 30+ teams. Done: Relocated team/player data to a new bank. This is the data that says what a team's name is, the arena, the players on the team.... This lets you have room to add lots of players to teams, but I haven't yet added additional teams. Next: Make Logos editable. So far, this is looking much harder than I expected. The graphics work I did on SNES '93 was quite straight-forward, but this game is using a more sophisticated (and weird) method, and it's not going to be as easy I thought it would be. So... initial estimates of this hack taking a month are out the window. I have no idea if it'…

Here are a few SNES hacks I need help with. First, does anyone know how to edit the length of a penalty? I would like to change the "2 minutes" to only 1 minute. Second, this question has been posted before but had trouble locating in the forum. I dont think its been answered yet. Is it possible to play with both the extra attacker and goalie on the ice the whole game? I am not a good hacker at all. I tried a hex editor and I have no clue where extra attacker code is. Can anyone help with these hacks? Thanks

Hi all. I redid the players and now some of my sprites has the wrong colors or missing feet. Has anybody seen anything like this with any game? Not sure what's happening. 16 player animations are affected by this glitch on each team. I use tilemolester and use copy and past between my roms, not sure if that makes a difference. I've been working on this rom for a year now redoing sprites, end zones, field, uniforms and logos. Pic 1 before glitch. Second pic teams with glitch. The sprites were fine after I changed the field color, they just changed out of the blue. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!!

So, from what I understand EA was going to have fighting in NHL 94 but angry moms got all angry about their 12 year old sons witnessing 16 bit graphics beat eachother up. If you search for "Fighting" you see Fighting, and Fight Instigator ... So was fighting programmed, and disabled for the final version of the game? or was this code taken from NHL 93 and they never took out some parts of it, or what? Is there any way to ever find out?

Wondering how to change the overtime length, and can it be continuous (Still sudden death, but if the period ends, go into another period)? Also, how do you change the period length options. I'd like 5/7/10 Thx.

Hi guys. I’ve been modding TSB3 for about a year now and I’ve gotten into the graphics, first time doing graphics at all. This question is about the graphics in general. I use tile layer pro. Is there an easy way to line up the graphics? I read that Sega has a pattern like each tile goes over so many places then the next tile moves over and so on. I’ve done some logos already just want to know if there’s an easier way of doing this or a better editor. Also thanks for letting us football fans join your hockey site!

Obviously not directly related to the NHL series but still an awesome sports game. Growing up Sensible Soccer was my favorite soccer game, and I've always wanted to edit it. Most of the graphics and some of the text are uncompressed inside the ROM, but the teams/players names and atributes, uniforms colors and some graphics must be compressed and I was never able to find a way to uncompress them. Now I know the RNC routine was used in the ROM. I've used RNC ProPack but the uncompressed data I've got was not what I was expecting: no graphics, no players or team names. Maybe the programmers used a different compression routine for the data I'm looking for? T…

I'm not a huge hockey fan. I am however, a big fan of NHL94 on the SNES. I'm also from Milwaukee. Therefore, to make the game a little more relateable for me, I wanted to make a ROM with the Milwaukee Admirals. I've done full ROM edits with logos/graphics/rosters of SNES ROMS before (Tecmo Super Bowl), though it's been a while since I've done some sprite editing. I've coded several editors both for the 30-Team RBI Baseball ROM, Baseball Stars, SNES Tecmo Super Bowl, and Tecmo Bowl's 32-team ROM, so I'm familiar with hex and all that, at least enough to make things happen. Knowing that, I have some questions: 1.) Is there set of basic formulas that you guys use to …

PP1: LUC/KRE/IGI/CHA/KRU PP2: LUC/CHA/IGI/KRE/KRU after the PP1 faceoff, can the player can hit the select button and choose the PP2 line and have the forward and defenseman switch places? would the guys take on different responsibilities? just curious. I don't plan to use it nor test it, but it's pretty much what the Bruins do to have Krejci take faceoffs and have Chara crash the net.

I feel like I'm pretty good with player editing and some of the easier graphics stuff, but pointers elude me. there are a few folks here that seem to grasp the stuff, but I require a bit of hand holding and/or direct assistance. if you can instruct me, guide me, join me in projects, I would gladly repay the favor as requested. I'm seeking help with: -changing fatigue and rest rates -setting player card pictures to match handednesses -remove uniform colors from stopping snowspray -expansion of roster space -expansion to 30 teams -getting goalies freed to roam further -replacing outdated center ice images with invisible, generic or new images -addition of one space be…

Hi, I just recently discovered this site and it's pretty awesome. I'm wondering though... ok, so there's a nhl94 2013 patch at pixel puck for 94 on genesis. Is there an equivalent patch for snes? I've been searching with no luck. I found NinetyFlow2013 but it's ridiculous. There are no stars underneath any of the players, I can't even tell who I'm controlling. I just want a version of nhl94 with updated rosters for snes. If it exists and anyone can point my in the right direction I'd appreciate it, thanks.

it's fine elsewhere, but the PHX banner doesn't display correctly in the brackets screen as seen in the following image: as you can see, the normally yellow border is blue and the two main colors are wrong. it is likely due to the fact that they are in the final slot, replacing an all-star team that never had to display in the playoffs bracketing. I guess I could their slot with that of COL or CAR, but I like those where they are. if anybody feels like they can help, please reply.

So since I joined a week or two ago, I've been hard at work developing my first rom (a proper and complete international rom). It's being done almost completely within statto's editor, which makes things pretty easy, but by far the most frustrating thing has been slogging through a million threads trying to find the relevant opinions on one topic: the attributes that are not immediately obvious. Namely: Off Awareness, Def Awareness, Checking, Stick Handling, ???????, and Aggression. Some of these I've found to have pretty easy answers, others I still have nothing conclusive. I'd like to develop one guide, preferably a pinned thread, devoted solely to the function of attri…
