Is this thing really on?
Thanks for the invite, but i need to withdraw my name from the hat.
I really like the concept here, but I'm still debating a return and the GDL or Evan's 20 game sound like the best options for me right now. I only have time for one.
-
I'm debating Evan's 20 game league or the GDL season 3. No time for both.
The 20 game league seems to better fit my schedule, but I'm hoping the competition will be top notch. Any vets plan on signing up?
-
No biggie. I dont really care where I fall in the draft. That's the beauty of the format. With the snaking picks everyones gonna have a good team.
-
Depending on when and if this thing starts up again, I'll be back...
Where do I fall?

I was scoping out Ebay for keychains for my bike and stumbled upon this...

How sweet is that?

Replace Evan?! lol
Evan - Keep up the good work.

Hey guys, the domain name www.nhl94draft is about to expire. It will turn into a pumpkin on June 8th.
So bookmark the site's correct url: http://65.36.133.56/nhl94_draft/index.asp
Or better yet, someone re-register the domain. So I can find the site when it's time for my return.

Breaking the glass is sweet. I don't really think it has anything to power at all. I've broken the glass on some pretty limp wristed backhand shots that were about as fast as a snail.
My favorite is when a slow lob bounces of the top of the goal and smashes the glass. Good stuff!

I'm not in the league, but I've played a season with it. I thought it was cool at 1st, but realized mid season I was going blind. A nice light shade of gray is nice.

I thought the timed release of games was sweet in season 1. It added a certain amount of tension in the stats /points race. The stats would be all lop-sided releasing all the games at once.
Also, in some cases you would finish your season series with an opponent in one hour. That's just boring. It was exciting to play someone whose skills are still developing early season, and then meet them late season for a barn burner.

Sup homies.
If there's some skill in the "20 Game" league, you might find me there. Personally I'm a huge fan of the draft format. But it's a bit too fast paced for me right now.
As ussual, I've been doing some traveling for work. Instead of stayin at the hotel's playin' NHL I've been venturing out a bit. Check out some pictures I've take recenty

It's good to see season 2 is kicking off! But I heard there have been some bad early picks...
Need some draft tips? Hit me up. Consultation is free.

Both Chicago and Vancouver came into the series extremely cold and rusty, but chicago came away with the series.
Habs is easily one of my favorite people to play. He's got a well rounded offensive attack with non of that cheap s**t. GGs.
-
Habs - Sup man? I still haven't seen you online. My schedule this week is tight all this week. I'll be in Texas and most likely unavailable until the weekend. If you're still alive, how does Saturday sound? If you are alive, at least give me a shout next time your online.
-
Habs - I haven't seen you online at all in some time. Let me know when your good to go.

While we are on the topic...how do people feel about repeatedly using the "shoot" button on defense in an attempt to get back at three times the speed of sound?
It's definately just part of the game. Especially in a non-line changes game. Imagine playing against the likes of Roenick or Mogilny with a coach that has mad deking skills... It would be blow-out city.
Other times defensive AI just isn't that smart. Being able to "speed burst" your way back kind of compensates for the sometimes chaotic AI.

Draft Players - Lets be sure to post game results on the board to keep everyone updated. Since there is no tree this is the best way to keep track of where we are at.

The Montreal Canadiens are in. Looks like we will be playing the Pittsburgh Penguins (MATT H) in the 2nd round of the playoffs in the Wales conference. I'm assuming the lowest seed left after the first round plays the highest seeded bye team in that conference. Can someone confirm that?
You are correct. Low seed plays high seed.

I spoke with Dmitry earlier today. He's really pressed for time right now.
In a nutshell, keep the games rolling all the way to the finals. And also don't forget to continue to email the save stats to Dmitry.
Game on!

yes, the name of the genesis emulator for xbox escapes me at the moment, but it will play the edited BINs (and even the NHL94 Sega CD ISO if you get your hands on it).
The one I use is called NeoGenesis.
-
is it possible to play BIN files on the xbox or ps2s that are modded?
the genesis games on my xbox are not bin but rathee .smc
will it still read the NHL 2007 update?? cause im going to get my friend to put it on?
I've got a modded xbox. You can definately play the updated or hacked roms.
Are you sure you are looking in the genesis directory? .smc are SNES roms. .bin are sega roms.

Perhaps someone should release a NHL94 honor code.
Matt - you got me thinkin...
Let's put something together here. I'm not saying to ban certain scoring tactics, but some basic NHL94 online courtesy guidelines. This isnt the official guide book, but here are a few of my suggestions:
Wait until a stoppage in play to edit your lines or pause the game - Don't ruin the flow of the game. Please wait until a whistle blows to change your line. You might not realize it but your opponent may be starting his "move" before he's even crossing the blue line.
Extended Pauses or Breaks - A game of NHL94 is pretty darn quick. If your phone rings, either multi-task (talk and play) or return the call later. Again don't ruin the flow (especially in league play). Call the person back, chances are your 2 minutes from finishing anyways.
Instant Replays - Most of us have been playing the game for 10+ years. We've seen it all. We've done it all. We don't need to see it over and over. Please refrain from replaying every day occurances. We don't need to see that your goalie scored on himself, or that pass hit the back of your skates. I'm sorry but I just dont care to relive that.
Don't pull your goalie unneccesarily - Some people pull their goalie when theyre down some goals. Sometimes early in the game. I simply don't get it. Is this a surrender? By pulling the goalie you just ruined the fun factor for yourself and your opponent. Man Up and put that goalie back in there. Or politely IM your opponent that you've had enough.
Say "GG" after every game - I'm sure this isnt going to fly with everyone, but think about it. We are damn lucky to be playing this ancient game with some good people. Every game is a good game. Certainly beats playing the CPU. So even when your online opponent goose egg'd ya 0-12 say "Good Game."
Any other ideas?

I think there should be another option: Yes, it's part of the game, but it's not part of my offense.
That is my personal stance on it. Back in the day, with the homies it was considered a "b-i-t-c-h" goal. And out of respect for eachother we did not do it. I dig pretty much all you guys, I'll show you the same respect.
There is no need to ban it, but it's still a b***h goal.
Snaking vs. Non-Snaking Draft
in General Discussion

Easy Solution. Based on your list draft list, have people take turns choosing their draft position. After the positions have been determined, then draft players.
Im a fan of the snake. In the non-snake, if your last pick, you are just F'd.
