  1. Hello again, After researching with the genesis version, I think the PP adv, PK adv home ice adv ect is located 4 digits before the listing of each teams number of forwards and defense. ie. 02 10F8 , F8= 15 forwards and 8 defenders for this team. What I am unsure of is if 0 (the first digit) is for PP, or PK?

If someone knows, I would like clarification. If the first digit is PP then 2=strong, 1=avg and 0=weak. The second digit would then be PK, 2=insignificant, 1=avg and 0= strong, And the third digit would be home ice adv, 2=high, 1=avg, 0=low. I have no idea whether the last digit is used for road disadvantage.

I would really appreciate anyone with information on this topic.

PS. Swos, does your new updated 2006 Rom version, account for teams PP, PK , and home ice strength/ weakness?

    Thanks

  2. Hey guys, I need help editing the PPadv/disadv, PKadv/disadv, Home ice adv high/low, and Road adv high/low. A while ago Swos and Mitz posted a response to this topic on the old forum. There was a picture example using the Buffalo Sabers showing the location of the home ice adv high/low using the hex editor. This post is no longer on the forum, I am wondering if someone could find this post or explain it again. As far as I remember, the location of the home ice adv high/low used to follow the uniform colours and the number of attackers and defenders per team (E8= 10 forwards 8 defenders). I no longer remember the sequence of numbers which specifies 100% avd, 50% adv or 0% adv. Any help on this topic would be much appreciated.

    Thank You

  3. Hi all, I remember last year someone on the forum found the location of the Home/Road team advantage/disadvantages and the PP and PK adv/disadv, I think it was swos. Since I began playing nhl94, I have noticed that certain teams cover and defend better then others. I also noticed how some teams pass much quicker and accurately than others. So I decided to experiment, and I tried four teams and gave them identical type players. I used Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Los Angeles, and gave them the exact same lineup as Chicago. I found that with identical players, Toronto and Montreal were significantly better defensively then Los Angeles and Calgary. I also found that Calgary and Los Angeles players jump into the rush more often than Tor and Mon players, more wide open attacking style of play.

So I am wondering if anyone has found the code that is used for each team, that affects their ability to back check and attack going forward? This way, when making the updated Rom's we can make sure that each team plays similar to their particular style. Do you think that this code is located in each teams section after the uniform colours are listed? Anyone with information on this topic please let us know.

    Thanks

  4. Hey Guys, In the last little while I have had the benefit of playing NHL94 on Sega Cd. Donny was right, it is SUPERIOR to sega and snes gameplay.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to play burned sega cd games on playstation 1? does anyone know of a person who could install a modchip to make that possible. What is the associated cost with installing a modchip?

Also, I hope one day, wboy will be able to create a NOSE editor for sega cd. I think the online gaming community on this forum would benefit greatly from playing the sega cd version in their league play. It is much smoother gameplay, overall a better game.

Hey wboy, if you were able to remove the intro from the sega cd nhl94 version (video), would that give extra bytes (room) on the rom to edit full players names like in the genesis NOSE editor?

Thanks, The online league looks wicked!

  5. The most important position regardless of manual goalie control is the Goalie!!! Patrick Roy is by far the number one goalie in NHL94. Because he has 99 glv left 99 glove right, he is able to stop one timers that belfour or anyone else cannot. His 99 puck control also makes sure he does not give up rebounds, something belfour does.

What is this NHL.net draft? are you picking players from 94 to make a team? do all the teams have equal home adv--dis?

  6. I would say being hot or cold has a slight affect. You can take a look at a cold player's ratings and see some of the numbers have dropped. Opposite applies to a hot player.

I personally never pay attention to it. It's not like you would ever pull Jeremey Roenick out of the game because Ron Barr says he's cold. A cold Roenick will still dominate a hot Goulet.

Poor Goulet, how he has fallen from grace!!

I personally never pay attention to hot and cold. There have been times players have played worse with a hot rating and better with a cold rating. Every game presents something different.

  7. What happened to all the free space in the sega cd version you used to create more bytes in the genesis version?

Is it impossible to add a second goalie to the NYR, they only have one?

Regardless of the bytes situation, the NOSE editor is incredible! especially for orginizing, uniform changes, and all the other small changes. I know it is way less tedious than the hex editor, especially with the ratings bar, telling you how good the player becomes as a result of and increase in their overall stats.

  8. hey wboy, I am extremly impressed with your NOSE editor. I was wondering when, or if the editor will be ready for SEGA CD. There is a huge following on this forum that edits, burns and plays sega cd games. If there is a way to make NOSE iso compatable, that would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks Soccer1

  9. Swos, can we do anything about the location of the blueline censors?

It would be cool to have that extra room.

I think the trapazoid on one end is fine. We cannot see behind the North net, but it would look cool behind the south net.

And the thank you fans would look great!

I also tried to make the color of the glass slightly lighter to look transparent. I think the color I choose looks better. Maybe i can email it to you and see what you guys think.

  10. Ever considered making one of these programs for the Madden Series or NBA Live Series? Thanks a lot for this amazing NHL editor - I have been looking for something like this for a long time!

Wboy, NOSE is amazing!!. It makes editing so much easier.

I was wondering if you could add home/away adv/disadv and pp/pk adv/dis to the teams section. I know that in the game certain teams are better at home and on the road due to an adv or dis in the roster section. you can have 100%avd 50% adv or 0% adv at home and on the pp. Same goes for away and pk. I think that 0=0% 1=50% and2=100% adv or dis. If you could add that to the teams menu, that would completely change the way the teams play. Thank you for NOSE, greatly appreciated.

  11. Thanks Wboy... now I see the trapazoid, hehe.

My free time has been slim lately, but I do intend to make the crease tutorial soon. Once that's up, you might be able to figure out the trapazoid from the logic within the tutorial.

Maybe if we're lucky I'll figure it out myself, but don't hold your breath.

    -Evan

The beauty of the trapzoid is, in NHL 94 the goalies only can come out as far as the new NHL rules. The NHL 94 goalies can only come a certain amount out of the net. Hopefully we can find a way to graphically enter the trapazoid behind the net. I was also wondering if it is possible to move the bluelines out to the red dots (remove the red dots for faceoff. The red dots just outside the bluelines would extend the enzone like the new nhl. The view of the NHL94 rink would support the blueline out to the red dots, you would still see the whole endzone. Any further out, the camera angle would switch to the neutral zone. If the bluelines were moved out to the dots, the faces offs would be taken on the blueline. I am ok with that.

I appologise for the terrible sentence structure. I was in a rush

  12. Hi all,

Does anyone know how to move the bluelines out on the nhl94 rink? That would give more room in the offensive zone and allow for a bigger attacking zone. It would be like the new nhl, smaller neutral zone and bigger end zone. And the nets do not need to be touched because they were not moved out when this game was made.

Wboy is there a way to add this to your rink data like the updated chages swos made to the nets and crease?

Hope this is possible, it would make probably for a higher scoring game, even more then nhl94 already is.

  13. Sweeeeeeeeeet

Just wanted to let you guys know that I have been talking to my hosting company about running a kaillera server (which is how you play Gens emu games online vs other people).

They have agreed to host it, so once that's all setup, we can have exhibition games and official nhl94.com leagues.  The Gens emulator can be used to play the Genesis and Sega CD versions of the game only though.

I'll let everyone know when it's all setup so we can play some test games.

    -Evan

  14. We played on Sega Gensis

Like I said Yesterday Wopap is an impressive player im sure once he begins to pick up on some of my moves he'l make the adjustments needed.  Soccer1 your right it was unfair just to post the blow out score but i guess my ego got the better of me...honesty u showed some things i havnt seen ....as long as u improve your manual goalie u will be formitable challenge

I look forward to the next battle ...being the KING of the NHL 94 world I expect there will be those who will try and capture immortality untill then i will bask in my glory. Wopap being the most immediate threat to my Kingdom will be closly monitored .....I still have a seat for u Game 7 at the forum u better bring your A game Bro!

I would also like yall to share the faceoff move that i introduced u to yesterday i wonder if anybody else has been albe to identify that move

  15. KGman, there is not much difference if any between you and wopap. As for myself, yes i did get blown out one game, but i am known for playing a stinker once and a while. The other two game 4-3 and 6-4, you were challenged quite well. And in time there will be less distance between us all. You and wopap are the best players I have faced, but anyone and everyone is beatable. I look forward to the next challenge. Ps Playing against you was a pleasure, next time I will use my regular team, DET, prob won't make a diff because Chevalde is so bad, but I am confident you will not be unbeaten next time. I enjoyed the challenge, and I look forward to a future tournament.

    Later, soccer1

I've been waiting all day for this post.

Yes its true, we 'mustarded' up enough balls to go play him.

Yes its true, I lost all games, albeit by one goal.

Yes its true, I have a newfound respect for Gary Leeman.

BUT.  KGman neglected to mention what he said to me last night, which was

"you're the best player I've ever played against"

which means next time, maybe at soccer1's house, there will be an ass whooping.  Who knows, maybe soccer1 will have his team picked by then!

    :)

  16. Wboy, amazing!! maybe now we can easily hack new versions of the game. I have been wanting to do an updated version of NHL 94 using sega cd. I wanted to use the 2005 PS2 hockey stats. I am just waiting to see if a burned copy will work in my cousins sega cd. Once I know the burned copies work I will start the game. Any help from anyone on graphic changes of banners would be much appreciated.

  17. That works great Evan thanks. Everything is working fine now. All I have to do is figure out how to burn the sega cd onto cd so I can play it. I'll look at Donny's site for that. If I get that working I am going to try and do an updated sega cd version to play. I'll try to use the 2005 player ratings from EA sports game. I'll prob need graphics help when I finish all of that for Banners and team logos. Thanks. Oh I also need to figure out how to eliminate the audio from Ron Barr in the startup menu. Because IF I do an updated verison and change what Ron says: if I dont eliminate the audio, he will continue to say the same thing (i.e he will talk about brian bradley on the lightning). Anyone who knows how to do this let me know. When I am done Maybe I can post a copy on this site. I was also wondering, if I get this sega cd verison done to play burned, maybe we can graphically put the nhl94 forum on the boards as advertizing, haha.

    Soccer1,

I downloaded all of the files from the nhl94 website to test out everything and make sure it was working correctly.  Turns out, the bios file I had up there was no good.  I have updated the downloads page with a new bios file that works great on my machine.

Here's the direct link for the Sega CD bios file: http://www.nhl94.com/multimedia/apps/us_scd2_9306.zip

    Sorry for the inconvenience!

  18. My favorite version is the genesis version. I have not had a chnace to play the sega cd, but the genesis version I feel is better playability then the NES. IT has smoother gameplay and skating.

Wboy brought this topic to my attention, here it goes.

Which game do you prefer, NES94, GEN94, or SEGACD94?

    what are the gameplay differences?

    what are the resolution differences?

    Which has the best gameplay?

  19. Lebeau is a good choice, but I wpould have to say ALEXANDRE MOGILNY!! he scores uncanny goals from anywhere (long shots, wrist shot outside the faceoff circle). I even think Jeremy Roenick and Pavel Bure deserve consideration. They socre unbelievable goals! Mogilny though can score on anyone at any time because of his speed and agility.

Hey you guys ... There is a lot of disagreement over the top player.  I'm going to catalogue the responses to get a consensus.  Before I do lets add one more category.... Who is the player that you can do the most spectacular plays with?  This will will be a tough choice for me.  Either Stephan Le Beau or Wendel Clark, hmmmm lets see Wendel can check a defenseman and shoot and score all in one motion..... but Lebeau makes impossible shots; double shoots when your stick is being held, and he can intercept clearing passes from the goalie and score in one motion, jeez I don't know Spectacular offense is what I love the most about '94.  OK,OK Its Lebeau we once got 36 shots with him in one game.  That's it MOST SPECTACULAR PLAYER is Le Beau!!
