  1. I don't like that idea one bit. If you turn it into a money league, then you lock out people like me. If the point is to attract new players, then you're already alienating people who just want to shut up and play.

I don't think Evan would ever ask anyone for money to play in his league. There are obviously guys interested in having some type of a money league/tournament but I'd be surprised if one ever got started.

  2. ASE 1st round series complete.

    Halifax 5 ThePimpImp 4 OT

    Halifax 4 ThePimpImp 2

Pimp had some tough breaks in game one...a couple lucky bounces resulted in goals which then, in true all star fashion, Pimp used all three goalies in game one.

Good series pimp...coulda went either way.

I look forward to playing shaka or kamakazie if they ever decide to play. I guess same goes for schwartz with puckhead and pyl85.

  3. i think you might have to keep things going longer like having a full season like 82 gms with the hardcore people cause you are going to lose people like me who get into the console gms online and such.i check in randomly to see how things are going but i have pretty much lost interest and possibly wont join up again and im assuming alot of these new members who show up on aim are just people trying to start new names .actually the only reason i may stick around is that ive only had my new computer for 6 months and paid 1500$ and still making payments so i gotta make it worth the moola B)

Well hopefully you don't decide to quit.....If you are using your computer mainly for video games like nhl94 perhaps you should try and sell it and get an older one. I just have an old p3 but it does the job....im sure you could find a good used one for cheap.

  4. I tried the SNES version out about a year ago... to me, it felt like something was missing... like it was incomplete... like I was kissing my sister.

Maybe I was just too used to the mechanics of the Genesis version at the time and didn't give it a shot, but I am wondering how other people who make the switch over feel.

P.S. How do SNES purists feel about the Genesis version? Do you have barely-witty but insulting comments to combat?

P.S.S. I do not have a sister, so I cannot confirm the feeling I had.

    hey matt,

I know I've said this in another topic but i'll mention it again. I just find the difference between that two is the manual goaltending. I just find that half second or so from holding the button down in Genesis to activate your goalie can make the difference from being making a save or being scored on. With SNES you only have to tap the button to activate the goalie. To me, that is the biggest difference between the two games and why I favor SNES over GENS.

Also the 'defence control' is a nice tool as well for SNES(I'm not positive but I don't believe the genesis version has it?)

btw....congrats on gens draft play off run...good luck next round.

  5. i just bought nhl07 and have spent two days on it and nhl94 still rules !!! they just try to do too much to the game with too many stupid add ons and cheap easy cross front goals and slow manual goalies and trying to manuver and stick handling sucks they should have kept the stick handling on right analog stick like nhl05.they are so stupid they should keep it simple like nhl94 and maybe improve other things like graphics and stuff it just makes me sick to my stomach how badly they make hockey nowadays good thing they have this site (nhl05 was about the best since 94)

    I couldn't have said it any better..nice!

  6. yeah pimp that's a good idea...or if you wanna fly to hali this week....the worlds largest pub crawl is taking place this weekend....a full night of beer drinking....first one to get thrown in the drunk tank wins home ice.

I'm willing to bet some of the capers already bought tickets for the event :D

  7. I pull the goalie and I don't regret it. There's no way back at like 5-0 for players like me. No need to keep getting humiliated, right?

I would only support this if a mercy rule was in place for any league games. I've been pushing for a mercy rule for a long time, and I think this is as good a time as ever to propose it for total mismatches.

I think a mercy rule to be put in place is a reasonable request..they have one in the ball hockey league i play in....once a team gets up by 7 goals the game is called.

  8. Skating straight up (or down) towards the goal, if you press up (or down) and hit "B" the puck launches from your player's stick with the speed of a supersonic jet, on a line so straight and true that scientists calibrate their instruments with it. It frequently leaves a puck-sized hole right around where the goalie's groin used to be, on its way to tickling the fancy of the goal judge.

    LOL....nice work.

  9. Give people a chance to set their lines - Sometimes people who don't juggle their lines themselves are in such a hurry to get started they hit start as quickly as possible to get to the action. Allow the other person to set his lines please. If after a few moments it looks like neither person plans to set lines, someone just go to the Edit Lines menu and select out of it, to signal to the other person that he can start the game.

perhaps to add to your comments....

For SNES..If im not making a line change..I'll simply type'GL' to let him know im ready.

I've made the mistake a couple times of hitting start before the other guy gets his line changes and I've asked if he wants me to re-start the game if I'm hosting. If he doesnt care then we keep going. It's fair enough to request a restart otherwise you might get stuck with Goulet for three solid minutes....

but then again...maybe you didnt want to change Goulet.

which would then open another thread for another discussion altogether.
