Just to keep everyone updated, here is whats in store for this upcoming season.
period length: 5 minutes
Penalties: on, no offside
Goalie: Manual
There will be 1 table in the league this time around with a 58 game schedule. Every team will face half the league 3 times and the other half 2 times, these teams will be picked randomly to see who faces whom 3 times.
16 teams will make the playoffs this year.
There will be a short preseason period of about 3-5 days. The trading period of the draft will be only 2-3 days. If there is a large demand for a longer trading period, the season can be pushed back another few days to accomodate this.
Were hoping the season will take roughly about 2 months to complete.
All playoff series will still be 7 games.
If anyone has any questions or i forgot to address something, just send me a message or drop a post on the board.

With the first pick of the draft, the Quebec Nordiques select Le Magnifique.
Vancouver is now on the clock.

We are looking to get this thing rolling on Tuesday, so get your draft boards ready.

If we stay at 20, that means only one new owner. I think the league can handle 2 more owners atleast, I'm not too worried about the skill level of teams going down too much. I had Chirs Kontos and Brian Bellows, and Terry Yake on the bench, all servicable players.
-
So how many balls will each team get? Will the teams that finished 15-20 get like 4 balls each or will we give say the 20th place team 20 balls and give 19th place 19 balls and so on? Personally id like to see a batch of teams get teh same amount because some games never got logged for whatever reason and it can be a bit shaddy to decide who gets the first pick and such. If youd like Dmitry, i can use Excel and do some random number generations to decide the draft order so we could get a draft list by tonight at the latest. If you want to do the thing with hockey girl though where you pick out of a hat though, i reckon ill just have to get some more patience in learning where i will be drafting next season.
-
So whats the draft order, is it going to be completly random, completly based off the standings or will we do exactly what the NHL does? also if we do have expansion teams, where do they belong in the draft. I volunteer my services in setting up the draft order no matter what format we pick to make sure everything is ironed out in a timely fashion.

East:
Pitts- Matthurray
NYR- vocally caged
OTT- mike
NJ-Magus
Buf- AJ93
BOS- gr81
FLA- Skool
MTL-Habs
NYI- Scribe
HFD- Ranatoro
West:
Chi- EA
LA- Kings
Van- DMAC

SJ- ED
ANH- Dadonch
These teams are basically set in stone since they fit all requirments of the first choice.
Pill and JJ both want Toronto, so they need to work that out between themselves or we can just give Pill Toronto since he did win the cup and earned the right in my mind to choose his team. Thus this would give JJ quebec i believe.
This gives 18 managers minus stumpy and backhander.
We have 6 people expressign interest in joining the league and we have all forgotten the wild card, dmitry re-entering the league. This leaves up to 7 people left on the outisde looking in and presents a new question, are we ripe for expansion?
I believe the next step in this process outside of a draft is determining expansion, is it time for the league to expand?

I dont know if i have the right for speaking for BHF here, but he has never been (from my experience) about winning championships. He just loves a good solid game where the competition is strong and he can be tested, winning just came with him being an excellent player. BHF is not vanishing from the community, he will still show himself when time permits him to be able to do so, but he is exploring other facets of his life that have been neglected due to the time he has comitted to this community. In time, BHF may find his way back to resuming is mammoth presence in this community, until then though, i wish BHF luck in accomplishing what he sets out to do with his life.

....who is tickenest he used to be one of best but is a nobody because no recorded stats on how good he was and another is tk who won another season but since he has lost is another forgotten good coach... like wtf
Fo sho hokkee, these guys are rat bums. I mean whose tickenest and that habs scrub? no one knows who these guys are, we always talk trash about them because they cant seem to win the big one, they deserve no respect.
If were gonna by that theory. Then whose that bum Angryjay93? i mean that fool got bounced by hokkee in Gens A fall and got bitchslapped by Pill in the draft league finals. Man, that guy should just forget about playing again because aint no one gonna remember who he is.

ya ya im over posting but no one fricken listens till it is dropped in their lap

I personally like the East- West format for the most part.
East:
Pitts- Matthurray
NYR- vocally caged
OTT- mike
NJ-Magus
Buf- AJ
BOS- gr81
FLA- Skool
MTL-Habs
NYI- Scribe
West:
Chi- EA
LA- Kings
Van- DMAC
CGY- hokkee
STL- Stumpy
SJ- ED
ANH- Dadonch
TOR- JJ
EDM- Pill
With the retirement of Backhander that opens up a spot and Ranatoro has yet to register which leaves 1-2 spots open for new players.
With the Pill and JJ situation,im not assiging them teams, i just put both in the West with teams they desire to allow one spot in each conference.
So right now we have 7 teams that made the playoffs in the East, 8 if Ranatoro takes Hartford again and 4 in the West, so now it seems the East would be stronger to the naked eye.
The West has potential though , DMAC is improving, hokkee is an established veteran who took over a team he didnt draft and competed well. Dadonch is developing into a good player as well who can do some damage. Also ED and JJ may benefit from their hard times last season with a better draft position, better draft tactics and improvement in play.
So if Ranatoro goes east, and say we let carse in the west we have a pretty good situation here. If people still arent pleased, i would drop Buffalo (since i dont care too much about teams) and JJ could take Quebec as he stated he would like after Toronto and i would take over Winnpeg in the West.
What does everyone think of this sort of scenario?
