    Simply an unbelievable series. Jay got the bum end of the deal, having many chances to put games away and being on the receiving end of some horribly fluky goals, the worst one coming in game 4 where Yzerman centered it, Bourque caught it and proceeded to put it in his own net off of Moog's flailing pad. Without that win, I doubt I could have pulled off a win here. Also of note is Jays amazing amount of interference penalties, usually not his doing. I had two penalties throughout the entire series, and Jay had over 10. I needed all the help from the NHL 94 gods that I could get.

    Great games, Great series Jay.

    Also, fantastic season. It will be a long time before someone has a streak that long.

  2. Although you did move the playoffs along, which is nice, it's hard to believe that (thinking about your track record) you did it solely to move them along. One has to presume you got pissed off and snapped and quit. If that's the case, nice cover story. If you actually were trying to move things along, perhaps i've misjudged you.

    But pulling the goalie? That's a horrible thing to do.

  3. Daemon, why you wouldn't just ask for a little bit of time to resolve the issue rather than flying off the handle and forfeiting the series is beyond me. An ugly end to a series that could have been great.

  4. Ah, thank you Jeff. I had actually made a save state and was going to do that myself, but got lazy. In my opinion that goal kind of iced the series for me. It gave me a huge boost of momentum. Leave it to Stevie to do the impossible.

  5. TCP...Now that's weird. Also, my aplogies Pimp, I thought he said you quit DURING the game. Still though, the comment wasn't exactly neccesary, although we can all understand how frustrating the game can be.

    Note that Jeff didn't forfeit his home ice advantage, we both just made a mistake. We both thought and agreed that I had the higher seed, so I picked home. After the game I realized the mistake, and now I feel like Jeff got jibbed. That home ice advantage could have swayed the series, but since we both made the mistake, we decided to just log it. My apologies to Jeff for that.

    Amazing series, game 5 ended with a incredibly fluky goal by none other than Stevie Yzerman.

    Great games and good times Jeff, hope to play you again with some more even teams :D.

  7. Gotta side with Alex on this one, quitting playing, especially with a comment like that, is a low thing to do. This is why players need to agree on playing the entire series before they start. No bailing out.

  8. Scores are all correct, although the order is a bit messed up. Should go.

    ggs. Schwartz is too creative with his passing, and I was scrambling throughout all the games to cope.

  9. A hockey pool is insanely simple EA. Much less complicated than fantasy hockey league. All it is is at the start, each team/person drafts players from the NHL. Then, the players stats from the 07-08 season make up the points for that person's team.

    Example, I draft Sidney Crosby for last season. He had 36 goals and 84 assists. Since both assists and goals are worth one point to a team, that means that my team got 120 points. And then i'd add up all the other players points on my team as well.

    It requires no management whatsoever by the coaches. You just draft the team, and let the season play out. Whoever got the most point at the end of the NHL season, wins the pool. Playoffs are not included. It's just for shits and giggles and bragging rights, although i'm sure we could decide on a prize.

  10. Suprised this has never been brought up (From what I can see). I'm wondering if any of the vets here want to start up a hockey pool for the upcoming NHL 2007-08 season. Obviously this would just be for fun and braggings rights. The rules are simple:

    10 Teams (May expand depending on interest)

    Each team drafts 10 players (7 Forwards, 2 Defensemen, and 1 Goalie)

    Draft is 10 rounds, snaking draft, with order randomized

    Draft will be done using a topic, and the deadlines will be relatively loose.

    As for points:

    Skaters

    goals = 1 point

    assists = 1 point

    Goalies

    wins = 1 point

    shutouts = 2 points

    Then the team with the most points at the end of the season wins. I know of a good, simple site for this.

    I don't mean to sound harsh, but i'd prefer this to be a vet only thing. This doesn't mean that you have to be a insanely skilled 94 player with amazing records in leagues. All I mean by 'vet' is that you've been with the community for a reasonable amount of time, and preferably have played in at least one league, althought this doesn't really matter.

  11. I have been known occaisionally to turn off the sound and put on some 'pump-up' music. Lot's of hard rock and such.

    I have to say, it does cause an effect. I got the puck with Sundin just when the very heavy chorus started up again, and I managed to dodge 4 checks and do a wicked deke. It really gets you going.

  12. Guys, it's clearly a self inflicted wound. He lost to the AI using Washington. Therefore, an offering of blood was required. To all you newcomers, if you lose to the computer while using Chicago, you must perform the ancient japanese ritual of seppuku.

  13. I think players who injure other players should not be penalized in any way but instead, should be awarded. That doesn't mean I like to see players get injured in real life but for this game's purposes, it's a highlight to injure another player. After a certain amount of injuries that players has given out, their weight should go down a level. While the player who gets injured continuously has to sit out, possibly receiving a season ending injury per Logan's previous email.

    It's a nice idea EA, but player's stats won't be affected by this league, only by their stats in the corresponding NHL season. Thus far, anyways.

    ggs. Detroits goal post was unbelievable in the series. Honorable mention goes to Yzerman for scoring while on his back to tie the game with 7 seconds to go.
