  1. Matt, you're right, I did make a slight mistake... I think.

I'm assuming tie-breaker rules follow the NHL, so first we'd go by wins:

    Ottawa: 23

    Pittsburg: 23

    Boston: 23

No luck there. Then it goes to points earned between games played between the tied teams.

    Ottawa vs Pittsburg

    7 - 8 OT Ottawa Win

    3 - 1 Pittsburg Win

So Ottawa earned 2 points, while Pittsburg earned 3. Thus, Pittsburg is currently ahead of Ottawa/

    As for Boston:

    5 - 4 OT Pittsburg Win

    5 - 4 Pittsburg win

4 for Pittsburg, 1 for Boston. So techincally Pittsburg is ahead of both teams. So then what needs to be seen is who would remain above the playoff cutoff between Boston and Ottawa?

    Season Series:

    5 - 7 Boston Win

    1 - 4 Boston Win

    7 - 6 OT Ottawa Win

    5 - 7 Boston Win

7 for Boston, 2 For Ottawa.

So right now, if the playoffs started today, Pittsburg would have 7th seed and Boston would have 8th.

My bad Matt. If Hokkee and Mike lose all the games they have left and have none go to OT, you're still in the playoffs. So like Donch, pray hard :).

  2. Phew. Updated Standings by points per game so it's as accurate as it can be.

RED - Team eliminated from playoffs

GREEN - Team secured playoff spot (Though may be a different seed)

    Playoff Standings

As a bonus, for those teams which are not secured a playoff spot (and not eliminated), a quick rundown on what needs to happen for you to be in playoffs. I stress that this to SECURE a spot, meaning if you do it you're in the playoffs no matter what. You can still make the playoffs without doing what i've said, but a lot of factors play in, and i'm not going to go through all that; just the basics.

    Eastern Conference

    New Jersey

Win at least 4 out of last 12 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    Hartford

Win at least 2 out of last 5 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    Ottawa

Win at least 3 out of last 4 games AND have Boston lose at least 1 of his last 3 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    OR

Win all 4 of last games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    Boston

Win last 3 games AND have Ottawa lose at least 2 of his last 4 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    OR

Win last 3 games AND have Hartford lose at least 4 of his last 5 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    OR

Win last 3 games AND have Washington lose at least 2 of his last 16 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    OR

Win last 3 games AND have New Jersey lost at least 9 of his last 12 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

Note: Even if you win your last 3 games you can still be eliminated, so play hard.

    Washington

Win 15 of last 16 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    Western Conference

    Toronto

Win 6 of last 11 games to secure 7th seed or higher.

    OR

Win 7 of last 11 games to secure 5th seed or higher.

    OR

Win 8 of last 11 games to secure 7th seed or higher.

    Vancouver

Win last game to secure 8th seed or higher.

    Calgary

Win last 2 games (Including one against Dallas) AND have Dallas lose at least 1 of last 5 games to secure 8th seed or higher.

    Note: Gulp!

    Dallas

Win at least 5 of last 6 games to secure 7th seed or higher.

    Anaheim

Have Dallas lose all of his last 6 games (With NO overtime losses) AND have Toronto lose all of his last 11 games (With no more than 1 overtime loss)

Note: Pray to as many gods as possible.

    --------------

Phew, i'm off to bed. Hope this helps some coaches put things into perspective. I'm pretty confident I got all the information right, but there's always a chance I made a mistake, so if anyone catches one let me know.

  3. Oh so how do we resolve the four previous games we tried and had to quit because of your 90+ ping????

    You should talk boy.

Well, considering it was apparently working this 5th game, and you chose to play through the whole game, you resolve this by either playing the last few minutes of the game or loging the save state at the desynch that one of you should have made.

Out of curiosity, how soon did the other 4 attempts desynch and what was the score? If it was tied or you just agreed to restart fully, there is no problem here. Log the game.

  4. Don't forget to include Ties/OTL points in the win% (guess it should be called pts%)

Well, it depends. If you're doing win %, you don't need to take OT losses or ties into account, as you're just going by the number of wins he has. So if he won 20, lost 20 and tied 5 (total 55 games played), just (20x100)/55 to figure out the win %.

...So I read that over and realized that points per game makes a lot more sense. My bad.

  5. I'm taking a break from the league. I'll be available for exhibitions, but I won't be playing league games again until Monday the 28th, which is in roughly a week. Let me know if this is a big problem, and if it is i'll keep playing, but right now i'm just not into the game at all.

EDIT: For the record, I might be available for the league games earlier, depending on how things go.

  6. Wags, cut this s**t out. He said he didn't do it puprosely, and you paused it and unpaused it several times during one of this scoring chances. That's just plain shitty. Skool has great sportsmanship, and from what most of us have seen, you have terrible sportsmanship. This, right here, is a damn good example.

  7. The vets getting the best players. You're kidding, it's a lottery based system, not skill based. It's random, thus perfectly fair. You can't just take away good players from good coaches because they know how to use them. Then only way you could do bottom teams getting first draft picks would be if all the coaches stayed the same, which hasen't happened yet. I prefer the random thing anyways, I got good players out of it, and it would be hard not to. Just make sure you take a look at all your options before taking somebody who's not the best can you can get.

  8. Personally, the beating I took at the start of the season from EA and Jay were just incentive to get better. Considering I lost by one to EA and 3 to Jay in my last two games against them, i'm content knowing I have improved. Besides, like I've said before, I don't take it as an insult if my opponent tries to score 12 goals on me in one game, I take it as an insult if he holds back and DOESN'T try to score the 12 goals.

  9. I figured I might as well give it a shot and try and help. If we're gonna go with first come first server, I went through the draft league forum and searched for people posting that they wanted in after the draft had started. It's arranged by date and time:

    dalstarsfan March 25th 1:27 PM

    Byatch1979 March 26th 12:54 PM

    zax450 April 12th 2:18 PM

    Wags13 April 12th 2:35 PM

    Kgman April 13th 9:48 PM

    stan April 14th 10:55 PM

    JacketsNash April 15th 6:30 PM

    BrownMagic April 15th 8:30 PM

I'm gonna keep checking to see if I missed anyone or somebody asked to get into the league earlier. Of course, somebody could have just sent you a messege on AIM to ask to get in before all of this, so of course this isn't close to being completely accurate. Hopefully it helps a bit though, I'll edit this if I find something I didn't notice.

  10. More realistic? Yes. Hopelessly annoying and frustrating? Very. This is NHL 94. AI Players get caught offsides too often and the ice surface is too small for this to work right. I don't mind line changes though, as that's a decent addition, but only if period time is 10 minutes.

  11. I've currently got games with Quebec and Hartford and don't really expect to get them out of a way for awhile, because I have honestly never seen them on AIM. As for Himer, he was on a week ago, i'm sure I saw him.

I say give them all a break. It's a spring break after all, and I know that i've not wanted to move at all during the day after some nights.

  12. sundin_mats250.jpg

Mats Sundin leads Calgary to 3rd in Central Division

#13 Is certainly showing why he was picked in the 1st round. In the past 8 games, the Flames have won 6, and captain Mats Sundin has ammased 28 goals and 31 points. Also showing off raw talent is Joe Sakic. Sakic, who had a dissapointing 5 points in his teams first 6 games, exploded out of the gate in the past 8 games to accumulate 16 goals and assists for 32 points. "I knew Sakic was a great playmaker and could put the puck in the net, I just couldn't get him to show up right away, but he's doing his part now." said coach Logan. The Flames currently stand with 13 points to tie for 2nd in the central division.

    3 Game Outlook

Gameday 8 @ Chicago (Having lost 2 against the Blackhawks already with a combined score of 18-6, the Flames will probably once again be run over)

Gameday 9 @ Chicago (Again, most likely going to be a gong show, but Flames fans can take comfort in knowing this will be the last beating handed to the Flames by Chicago this season)

Gameday 9 Vs Los Angelos (First match-up of the season. Calgary will have to shutdown the Kings very talented offensive lineup, which will be no easy task)

    Quick Notes

    -Mats Sundin is AWESOME.

  13. I think the way the league is run right now is just fine. Sure, there are some days when you don't have games, but I don't mind that at all, really. As someone said, the race for the playoffs at the end could be exciting, which would be awesome. I also like seeing how the standings are when the games are fairly equal, not when you have one guy done 47 games and one guy just hitting two digits.
