  1. As I said in another topic:

Just so everyone is clear, June 9th, have over 25 games in. And thats bare minimum, and not a guarantee that you won't be replaced either. It's time to buckle down and get your games in, it's been far too long to let anything slide anymore. Anybody looking to get in the league, send me a pm, or post in the waiting list. The league needs to get back on track as a whole.

If you absolutely cannot find any coaches and you ARE on a lot, do not wait until the 9th to tell me. Talk to me ASAP on AIM, let me know who you can't find. Likewise if you're gone until or beyond the 9th, talk to me now. I might still have to replace you; we are terribly behind, but I'll be open to letting you in again next season (which won't be all that long), as long as you come and talk to me.

Last call here guys. You have all weekend.

I can't stress that enough. Bare minimum get 25 in, but that's on the edge. Unless you have a lot of games against some coaches who've been invisible for awhile, 25 might not cut it. It's time to get back on track. Again, anyone with under 25 games left, unless theres by some ridiculously bad luck 10 or so of your only games left are agaisnt those AWOL coaches, will be replaced. Get your games in this weekend.

  3. Furthermore, to say no progress or improvements have been made is ridiculous. The bidding system, after the fiasco that it was the first time around, has been completely overhauled thanks to good work by Shifty and Smoz and it will all be done through the website now, making it much clearner, less cluttered, and no more chance of somebody editing a bid at the last minute.

The league is fine. It's the fact that certain coaches off the bat put in no effort, causing others to get tired of waiting for said coaches and they themselves start to slack off a bit. It's unfortunate, but hopefully the replacements will put in a strong effort and get everybody back into it.

  4. 1 - I did start and run this in my spare time, and I do what I can to address issues as quickly as I can.

2 - Shifty gives up his own time to work on the site, give the guy a damn break. He does what he can, and it's not like the site doesn't WORK. When he gets told theres an issue with the functunality of the site he fixes it ASAP. If you're complaining about the looks of the site, I have nothing to say to you.

3 - The reason why the games haven't all been released is the trade break, which as I recall most people were for having a period DURING the season at which you could mix up your roster a bit before playoffs roll around. The only way this can happen is for there to be a deadline set where everybody should have an even number (or at least very close) of games played. That's the best way to do something like that or you'd have a constantly changing rom and database issues. That is your long winded explanation.

Also, why would releasing all the games suddenly cause a spark that makes ALL the games get played. It will make MORE games be played, that's just common sense, but it's not going to make ALL of them get played. The problem lies with some of the coaches.

4 - Not sure what you mean by this. Got a question? Send me a PM or talk to me on AIM.

I'll admit the whole time release thing just doesn't work out well, so releasing games in big chunks is a better way to go. So I did that, but I still want to have the trade break and most coaches are for that idea.

No, the issue lies with inactive coaches right off the bat, which, as Ice said, slows the league down, and even after they get replaced the other coaches have already been slowed down because of it. It happens, hopefully we can get through it fine.

I congradulate you on having your league almost done the regular season and onto playoffs, but quit pestering me about mine.

  5. Alright, so the deadline for 25 games was yesterday, and in general I saw everybody make an effort to get up there.

There are 5 out of 16 coaches that actually made the deadline, which isn't exactly ideal, but theres a number of coaches that are very close to it, and one of the issues that probably contributed to not everybody reaching the deadline was that some of the coaches have just dissapeared. So, heres whats up:

Wittgenstein(HFD) is out. I have not seen the guy in ages and he hasn't replied to any of my messeges, so it's time to replace him and keep the league rolling. Because i'm iffy about not having anybody that I know for sure is reliable to be an active coach, especially when the team you're taking over has 1 win in 13 games, I will be the one taking over this team. Hit me up if you have games, i'm available lots. My plan is to close out the season and then let another coach take over.

Sonixx - You're falling behind pretty hard and I will be replacing you soon if you don't get some games in. You started out as one of the most active ones at the start of the season, and you have lots of games played in GDL so it's a bit confusing.

Thank you to all the coaches I contacted about lagging behind, you guys put in the effort and got a big chunk of games in.

That beind said, here's what we got left to do before the trade break.

Everyone has roughly 33 games to have done. This is the last and final deadline: June 9th. Very tentative, as I have no doubt we can have the schedule all but done by that point. After that the final 10ish games are released, and that should take maybe a week to finish. Then we got the playoffs going, and please god let's all put in the effort to get this done before summer is in full swing.

I'll set myself up as coach for HFD when I get back from work today, and anybody on tonight can start asking me for games then. Let it be known that a week from now if certain coaches haven't picked it up and played some games, i'll be replacing.

  6. I'll stick to my method for predicting games: NHL 94 with 2008 ROM

Last time it predicted both winners correctly, got 4 out of 5 games right in the DET series, quite good, but a mordibd 1 for 7 in the PIT series. This time around it predicts...

    GAME 1 PIT

    GAME 2 DET

    GAME 3 DET

    GAME 4 PIT

    GAME 5 DET

    GAME 6 DET

    DET in 6

So far it's 100% is predicting the winner correctly, so going by those odds and horrible logic, Detroit is guaranteed to win.

Now to put all my savings on them...

  7. No offense intended, but I find it hard to make the deadline easier on coaches who are far away from getting 25 games in. It's been quite awhile since the games were all released, and although I understand it's not always easy to get games in, and sometimes you just can't find the coaches you need to play, theres also the case of 3 coaches being replaced 4 days ago. Those 3 replacements (Bo, Flaming Bure, Hokkee) have managed to get more games in in 4 days than a fair chunk of the league. Hokkee has already met the deadline, FlamingBure is 3 games away, and Bo is still quite a bit away but he's been getting the games in.

Of course I won't be replacing half the league, but the thing is it it shouldn't come to half the league being under the requirement. Just get as many games in as you can. If you're at 20 you're not likely to be replaced, it's if you're at 15 or still under 10 that you've got to worry.

You can always talk to me if theres a special circumstance and you can't get any games in as well.

  8. As i've said before, the deadline is the 26th. At the end of that day, every team should have at least 25 games played. Any team not up to there will be replaced. I don't want to have to push it back again when we end up with half the league not being at the deadline, so please try to get some games in. You have the entire weekend as well. It's frustrating to see the interest start to pan off. If everyone meets the deadline, then the trade period will begin shortly after, to give you more time to finish those last few games.

  9. Starting today, 3 new coaches have taken over 3 inactive teams.

Coach - AIM - Team Replaced

    Bo - BeefJerkyRules6 - Buffalo

    FlamingPavelBure - FlamingPavelBure - Boston

    Hokkee - Hokkeefan2 - Los Angelos

Thanks to them for getting the teams back on track, and please, all coaches continue to get games in.

Coaches who need to pick it up

    Vocally Caged (Pittsburgh)

    Dmac (Vancouver)

    Sonixx (Toronto)

Cmon guys, granted we all know Hokkee is a robot, but in two days he's managed to have played more games than everybody except Chris and Carse, so 2 weeks to finish up the first part of the season is plenty.

The deadline is still the 26th. If everybody steps it up, it can easily be met. There will be replacements if everybody does not make an attempt to meet the 33 (ish) game deadline.

  10. Smoz, the ROM got changed, but the rosters were exactly the same, down to the spot in the roster on the rom. The only thing that changed was the teams position in the ROM, which I fixed awhile ago.

Problem is that there was an error in the ROM with alphabetical sorting (Quebec comes before Pittsburgh), and i'm assuming this is the issue with the rosters being messed up, as pittsburgh has quebecs roster and vise versa. I'll work on fixing this, the point totals and boxscores should come out fine.

  11. Granted a couple of teams will have to be replaced. I'm trying to get a hold of the teams that have barely played any, but of course it's not easy. I just want to see those that ARE wanting to stay in the league get more games played so it gets clear which coaches aren't even trying to get games in and those who just have trouble finding other coaches.

  12. So Crosby has .12 more points per game average, look at who Crosby has to work with? Ovechkin plays in washington and has had to play with some less than spectacular linemates, and he still got it done. Now that the offense is looking up a lot with Backstrom and Federov, I expect Ovechkin to rack in even more points.

I'm reminded of earlier days when Gretzky and Lemieux dominated the league. To me, Crosby is the new Gretzky, he's more of a play-maker than a goal scorer, light and quick, great hockey sense. Lemieux to Ovechkin is the obvious comparision, as Ovechkin is a very talented goal scorer, not so much of a play maker. Hard hitter and fast skater as well.

  13. Using a very sophisticated method with I like to call "NHL 94 with 2008 ROM", here are my predictions for the conference finals:

    Game 1 - DET (DET 4 DAL 1)

    Game 2 - DET (DET 2 DAL 1)

    Game 3 - DET (DAL 2 DET 5)

    Game 4 - DAL (DAL 3 DET 1)

    Game 5 - DET (DAL 2 DET 1)

    Detroit in 5

    4 for 5 (80%)

    Game 1 - PHI (PIT 4 PHI 2)

    Game 2 - PHI (PIT 4 PHI 2)

    Game 3 - PIT (PHI 1 PIT 4)

    Game 4 - PIT (PIT 2 PHI 4)

    Game 5 - PHI (PIT 6 PHI 0)

    Game 6 - PIT

    Game 7 - PIT

    Pittsburgh in 7

    1 for 7 (14%)

    Overall

    5 for 12 (42%)

Will nhl94 turn out to be an accurate prediction tool? Only time will tell :P
