    Thanks for that. And (I didn't spot this before) another congrads to a fellow up-state NY'er. I live in St. Louis now, but am originally from Watkins Glen...ever heard of it?

    Congradulations to Old School Cup Season I Champion Vancouver Canucks!

    The Canucks, coached by AIM disasterpiece07, swept the Winnipeg Jets, coached by AIM snoboarder3211, 4-0. Both teams were #2 seeds and played very impressively throughout the postseason.

    I wanted to give a special thanks to all the coaches that stuck around and toughed out what was a very trying first season. I was pretty new to the site and to playing NHL94 online all together when I started the Old School League. Honestly, since it's been close to 10 years since I last played this game, I still don't consider myself much more than a rookie. That being said, I'm unsure if I will do another season of OSL. I've practiced and I still cannot improve my skills. The time and effort it takes to be competitive is something I don't have. It sucks because this game IS a lot of fun, but all the fun seems to slip away after numerous defeats and wins that are few and far between. After the feeling of being run over by a mack truck in the form of the NY Islanders (coached by AJ), I decided that I'm a long, long way from being good enough to want to compete with the coaches on this site. All that, coupled with the fact the season ran a month longer than I wanted it to, is my reasoning for possibly not coming back at all.

    If enough people are interested in participating, I would consider administrating the league at the very least. Also, having to drop almost half the league because they couldn't finish their games makes me leary of trying this again. So basically if I get a good responce to wanting to continue with a season specifically for those who are independent of the elite leagues for one reason or another, I will oblige.

    The finals can be played at any point from now but need to be completed by next Monday the 18th.

    Post results in this section only. Also, anyone is free to post thoughts or predictions on the series.

    ok so here's my take on things. I feel like in order for this playoff to be legit a true winner must be crowned. For that to happen all series should be played completely (WAGS MIA withstanding).

    I'd really like to see EA and Carse work out their series and meet me in the finals.

    Let by gones be by gones. I'm ok with waiting till Sunday or so to find out who it is.

    Michael, if EA agrees can you reinstate the other Conference final match up?

    I will reinstate him if he agrees, but I've already given him that option and he's not interested.

    If I don't hear anything from him by the end of the week, the current finals are set in stone.

    Hope you didn't think I was coming down on you. I'm sure that there was a reason that you weren't able to get back to me. Hope everything is back to normal these days.

    Just to point out, I was trying to take care of the series. I IMed Carse a couple times to play. He only responded back once that he wouldn't be able to play that night b/c of his never ending connection issue but he would be able to play the next day. I thought I was going to be able to play but it turned out I wasn't. So I will accept some of the blame for not getting it done on one night where I did say I was available to play.

    It comes down to that I'm tired of arguing with this guy and especially being accused of holding up playoffs AGAIN when it was Carse who again had connection issues last season and held up the playoffs. And I'm tired of trying to schedule games that no one is around for and then getting blamed for a league getting held up.

    I have put nhl at too high of a priority and have made a lot of sacrifices to make things run as smoothly as possible from my end just to have it thrown back in my face that I am the reason things aren't going as planned. Guys like Carse are disruptive and disrespectful. Even more so, they take a lot of the fun out of playing in a lg.

    Michael, most of what I've mentioned doesn't have to do with your league but simply said, I'm not going to play Carse so I guess that means I forfeit my games.

    You did a great job commishing this season and I like the way you stuck to your guns. If you host another nhl94 lg, I may join up some time. Thanks for all your work to make this happen.

    I appriciate and respect your statement. After all that's happened, once the finals are over I'll have to do some thinking about when (if at all) I do Season II. I've become very frustrated with the game itself (not to mention the pesky netplay) and I can't seem to get any better.

    I will take this as a formal FF from EA and Carse will advance to the finals. I will post the updated playoff format on the league site as well as a new post in the Old School League forum.

    I asked for deadlines and I never got a response from Michael.

    Carse, I requested for us to play last Wed... Surprise, you're connection wasn't working. So instead of IMing you a bunch more times, wasting my time and you saying that your connection isn't working (like it seems to go most of the time with you), series is yours, I'm out.

    I didn't give you a deadline because you guys seemed to be taking care of the series on your own. I was unaware of Carse having issues. If you want to forfit and give him the series, thats up to you. I personally would give you the victory since it's his issue not yours.

    It's your call EA...let me know so I can update the site.

    I've had a minor crisis that I've been dealing with which is why I've been dormant at running my league.

    I know this is your first time running an online league and things have been a little rough, but your participation hasn't exactly been setting a good example for everyone else.

    ACTUALLY, we are waiting on the Detroit/Winnipeg series to finish so we can get to the cup series. I don't know why they haven't finished. I'm not going to hold the vets hands anymore and scold them for not finishing up. They're big boys and know that they have a series they have to finish

    My participation? I played my games and got eliminated. I think you're barking up the wrong tree. :) How about calling out EA and Carse for holding up the playoffs?

    Its comments like these that are making me loose what little interest I have left in pursuing another OSL season let alone wanting to improve my skills enough to be at least be competeive in on-line play.

    That Super Tecmo Bowl ROM is calling my name from my laptop....

    Me and carse will get our games done within the next few days. Its been tough to fit everything, (GDL) in. I do apologize for the delay.

    Its cool to see everyone gettin there games done:)

    Montreal and Winnipeg:

    Guys, your series needs to be completed today. If not, you will both be DQ'ed from the playoffs and EA (Detroit) will advance to the Old School Cup.

  16. Que Vs. Nyi Lag Issues

    I'm not a part of this league but I have been on both sides of this issue. There is no "whos right and whos wrong" because it's basically one word against another.

    Basically in my humble opinion, the only solution to this type of problem is for leagues to implement a rule that allows a brief time period to back out of a game due to lag or syncing issues. Once a coach has passed that time frame, they are obligated to continue playing or bow out with a FF. I know that might suck for those of you who are statistic-minded, but that may be the only solution.

    Also, I agree with Ice about making a strong push for coaches to utilize the P2P option. I almost never have issues with P2P except for the occasional de-sync which is noticable right away.

  17. Help! Probs With Gens Emulator, Screens All Black

    I cant see anything, but i hear the game. I deleted the rom and redownloaded diff versions of gens and its still all black with just sound?? Anyone know what the problem is??? I need my nhl 94

    I had a similar problem with my GENS a while ago. I even tried to completely remove all information from the registry after I deleted it but that didn't work. I ended up restoring my PC back a week and it worked again. Seems like an extreme measure for a game BUT this is no ordinary game...

    **By the way, don't mess with the registry unless you know what your doing. As a PC tech, I need to inform you of that so you don't f-up your PC.

    Old School-ers,

    Should I just go ahead and give myself the FF victory over Wags? I don't want to jump the gun, but I think he's done with us.

    Also, we're still waiting on Montreal and Winnipeg's (sebe and snoboarder) round 1 best of 7. I know I gave everyone 'til Friday, but it looks like we're moving along quickly and Detroit is waiting on an opponent for the "B" finals.

    No rush, but get it done as soon as you can.

    It was an incredible, random, intense series.

    I should've probably just let you sweep me, as the stress that took a toll on both of us probably took a year or two outta both of our lifespans :D. And if I knew I was gonna lose all the way till an overtime game 5.

    Still was a worthy experience to learn and grow from as a player. VGGs Ice

    Hold up....you guys know you're playing a best-of-seven series??

    After a long delay, the Gens Old School League playoffs have finally been confirmed.

    Starting Friday, 18 January all first round games can begin. You can do a couple at a time or all at once, but they need to be finished NLT next Friday 25 January. It would be nice to get them all knocked out quickly so we can move on, but I understand everyone has other commitments as well. If the deadline comes and the series are not complete, the leader will be delcaired the winner.

    Here is the format:

    Division A:

    #4 Chicago Blackhawks (augny78) vs. #5 Quebec Nordiques (wagsth) (best of 5)

    #2 Vancouver Canucks (disasterpiece07) vs. #3 Pittsburgh Penguins (minddefect) (best of 7)

    The winner of the 4/5 series plays #1 NY Islanders (angryjay93)

    The winner of the 2/3 series plays the winner of the 4/5 series vs. #1

    Division B:

    #4 Los Angeles (sdogg420420) vs. #5 Calgary Flames (hokkeefan2) (best of 5)

    #2 Winnipeg Jets (snoboarder3211) vs. #3 Montreal Canadians (sebe82) (best of 7)
